That's impressive, too bad the game is a broken grindfest mess.
Nope, and I hated XI due to that.
Anyway, great news, I hope they also work in anti aliasing.

No it isn't a grindathon, some people just didn't balance out their activity properly. If you run story quests and only story quests, yes, you'll hit road blocks. That's why there are fates, hunting logs, optional dungeons, guildheists, and all sorts of other means of gathering quick XP. You'll need to partipate in these sorts of things anyway, for in game cash, loot, and all sorts of other things that'll aid in the gameplay.
Basically, you have to play the game like an MMO, you can't just skip all the side stuff like in most JRPGs.
I had to come here to find the people that didn't like FFXIV. But then I'm not an MMO guy, so that might be why this game works for me. I don't care much for endgame content so I'll probably play until I max level and finish all available quests and quit until they add some more side stories/quests and main story content. They're supposed to add content on a semi-regular basis, so there you go.

Does a single sub get you access to both the PC and PS4 version after you buy the base game for both?
Then MMOs must not be your genre. Unless, of course you come from those that you can only reasonably level up by questing. Quest xp and hubs are downplayed in this game compared to most, but Hunting Logs and Fate parties are 100 times more interesting to than random fetch quests. Eastern MMOs typically rely more on group killing for xp gain and this is the best example of mixed ways to level that I have ever seen in a game.
Chains
HuntingLogs
Fate parties
Dungeon grinding
Quests
Levequests
Guildhests
Not many games offer half as many options.
While leves could use a slight buff in terms of the reward you get, it isn't bad xp at all. It comes out to about 8000-9000 xp per leave, verses 1100-1200 for a similarly leveled fate. There are also dungeons of course,
which regularly give you 1k+ xp per enemy killed starting in the mid 30's
Seriously, leveling in this game is a breeze.
Which FATEs only give you 1100-1200xp? None of the battlefield leves give better exp than FATEs. Tradecraft, however, can be exploited where you can receive 300k exp from a single leve.
This is a flat out lie. I beat every guildheist and dungeon available to me, I cleared out hunting logs and participated in any fate on my way. I still ended up having to grind out fates at level 42. I honestly don't comprehend how people are arguing otherwise.
Also it's got nothing to do with being an MMO. In GW2 I never once found myself stuck grinding the same group events for 5 hours and I was able to level up my fighting class by doing activities outside of killing mobs, dungeons and fetch quests with things like crafting or platforming sections. As it stand FFXIV is balanced to have you grind the same fates constantly in 2 late game areas.
Eh, I'm still going to wait. I want my experience to be the best it can be. It is hard, but GTAV has been helping it hurt less.Yes, it's been 100% confirmed.
On-topic --- the game will be less grindy when the PS4 version is released. Anyone disagree?
I personally really like the game, I think it's a damn fine effort, actually feels like Final Fantasy (cept Summoner) and has held my attention far, far more than I ever expected a WoW-type MMO to do again but some of the fans seem to have trouble accepting that it has a pretty solid amount of issues right now.
I just hope that their patch schedule isn't too bad. I also wish that for all the stupid shit they ask Yoshi they'd start asking him about class design quirks. I have a lot of complaints with the class design above anything else (Summoner and Bard broke my heart!) but I'd be at peace at least if some of the stupidity and useless abilities were ironed out. Lots to do, drastically improve ARC pet micro and allow macroing, fix a lot on Warrior, tweak WHM mana costs, etc.
I don't see how. I would love to hear a scenario where it would be.
Would you care to elaborate on that?
I'm glad to hear. I want to play this game really badly, but I'm going to cultivate my desire until the PS4 version gets for sell.
Also, what's this about the "binding coil" I keep hearing about ? Apparently that's what's making the platinum trophy a bitch.
The scenario where you're comparing a zero-month old MMO with a six-month old MMO?
It's funny I keep hearing about rushing to level cap but is there anything else to do in this game?
They are no mini games
Crafting = you need gil and to get gil you need to grind
PVP = Coming soon
Dungeons = wait 2 hours in queue to get in then get an error or a party member bail on your team leaving you stranded only to repeat the same process again.
Grand Company Quest = Need to do a dungeon1 to continue, can't do dungeon1 because gears are too weak and need to grind another dungeon before I can even think of starting the dungeon1.
Relic Weapons= Don't get me started.
And about leveling another class most quest aren't repeatable, so if you want to level another class but already used all the quest in the area guess what you're going to have to do? Yes that's right grind FATES.
OT: I run the game fine on maxed setting 60fps on my rig but my brother plays on the PS3 and it's almost unplayable if there's a lot happening on screen. so I'm very impressed if the PS4 turn out to run like my rig.
Nothing to do? There are 8 classes to battle, 8 classes to craft, and 3 to gather. You're telling me you have NOTHING else to do?
It's one month old. I still don't see a scenario. This upcoming patch only adds dungeons it seems (as actual playable content). I would maybe understand your point if you mentioned a year from now, maybe after the first expansion.
The highest PC settings is nice, but there really isn't anything graphically spectacular in this game that would warrant having it.
Nice game regardless.
Nothing of note has been added since its zeroth month, hence referring to game as released. However, Yoshi-P and cohorts seem (at least) to be engaged with player feedback. The 'grind' is as pervasive a complaint as any I can think of. I genuinely have no doubt that the game will be less grindy than its original version in six months' time. You can be absolutely certain that a major version update (2.2?) will accompany the PS4 release.
That's impressive, too bad the game is a broken grindfest mess.
Well for the record, I'm not complaining about the grind. It's necessary in every MMO i think. I'm more concerned about the actual content given and how easy it is to conquer it. All signs point for this to be a strictly end-game content type of game, but even at that it just seems tedious rather than fun. Adding mroe dungeons to me just seems like adding more time-wasters.
I do hope they spice things up a bit and make give stricter penalties for dying, or make it more risky to explore some of the higher level areas. Even throwing in some level 60 mobs would be fun to try to solo just for the fuck of it. They should also not make it so easy to evade a higher-level mob.
The sense of danger is really missing in this game.
Its great to see the game doing well, the original release was released far too early and even became good on its own right.
BTW just how much was kept from the original version that was released, it would be sad if it all went to waste.

So you rushed to 50 on two classes, and now you're left with only the endgame, and you're blaming the game?
Yeah. Nothing to see here.
Wut? I get a free PS4 copy because I have PS3? That's good of them.
I guess. It's pretty dumb that buying the PS3 version of the game doesn't give you access to the Windows version. There's literally no reason that it shouldn't.
Buying GTA V on PS3 should rightfully give me access to the 360 version.
That's not quite the same thing, and there's already precedent for what he's asking for. With FF11, if you sa y, bought the game on PS2 or 360, you could play on PC as long as you got the client somehow, without paying anything extra. And that's actually how FF14 was during the beta, as well. If you got in on PS3, then you could play on PC with no extra work.Buying GTA V on PS3 should rightfully give me access to the 360 version.
