GTA Stock Market & Insider Trading Thread: Scratching that BAWSAQ itch

I am having the feeling that the shares differ per country. The stocks for HAL are (Current Price: 7.13. Price Movement: 0.06. % Change: 0.92%)

This is way lower then some of the numbers thrown around here.

If you want to reach the game's max money limit for single player (2.1 billion dollars) follow this guide I posted.

STOCK MARKET STRATEGURY

The only way you can get vast amounts of money quickly is by maximizing your investments before and after Lester's assassination missions, so some spoilers regarding those missions in the following link:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1VLK0HCFWmfb7uG4_tzurGGBVY1WZBxF-2iKRwNojZRs/viewform

I'm on the 7th investment opp atm, the only thing this guide doesn't take into account is:

1. When the stock hits bottom (and what is the lowest value)
2. When the stock hits its peak (what is the highest value)
3. How long it takes to reach 1 or 2
4. How long the stock stays at its bottom or peak

Basically you will be utilizing the bed save with Franklin a lot to pass the time so the market moves faster (some stocks will take 1 or 2 saves to bottom out/max out - others will take 12+ to hit peak as an FYI) Also you can invest will all of your characters, not just Franklin:

I wrote down a few of the expected highs/lows/returns just so you can better maximize your earnings (all of the other guides I've seen don't have any of these written in, some have maybe one or two expected results tops):

I think Debonair tops out at ~51% return at ~$1066 a share (or maybe I mixed it up with Redwood)
Redwood tops out at around 300% return (after it rebounds save one or two more times and it will explode to around 300%)
Facade maxes out at 33% return at $570 per share ($202 low point)
Vapid tops out at ~147% return at ~$500 per share.
Gold Coast tops out at ~82% return at ~$250 per share.

The thing to mention here is to have a save prior to accepting his mission WITH YOUR MONEY CASHED OUT!!!!!! and keep that save in case you mess up or sell too early/too late.

Because BAWSAQ, though affected by your offline decisions is still an online-tied/dependent market -- so if you miss the boat on a stock peak it will drop and keep dropping despite reloading a previous save post-mission, in this case you have to make a note of the peak price and reload the save before the mission and do it over and then sell at the peak you jotted down.

Also, if you played these missions already and didn't max out your investments with all characters you CANNOT replay them and play the stock market game, you would have to start a new game to take advantage of this banking strategy.

For me, right before doing the
Vapid Bus
mission I was sitting on a little over 400 million (1 billion after post-mission trading) and by the end of the
construction
mission I had 1.8 billion.

So if you're at that or higher you're in good shape (I did not get to do the
Aug insurance
double dip thing after the first assassination so I missed out on that money).

Right now I'm sitting on 1.8 billion on each character without having done the final ark investment.

There's a tab on Eyefind titled "Money & Finances", or something like that.

Cool, thanks! I've gotten more than a little annoyed that there are some things that the game doesn't exactly mention that I had to search for online because I was unsure what you were supposed to be doing in some missions and that. Game needs to explain things like this a bit better if there was some insight somewhere that it existed and where you go to take part in that part of the game.

Unless it's in the manual and I didn't read it.

Cool same for me.

Seems like HAL and PIS can only rise and rise when you compare it to all the other companies. Whiz is the 3rd lowest and that Current Price sits at 58.45.

EDIT: will see in about 11 hours how much it has risen in comparison to now. I got the stats from this minute.

Grrr, the fricking BAWSAQ is never open for me, and I've been told it's becuase I need to be logged into Social Club, but there's no option to log in anywhere.

And I think I am logged in anyway.

Dumped $20 million per character into PIS this morning (GMT) when it was still down at around 3. I'm probably going to ride this one on until tomorrow night and then bail out. Who's with me?

My characters are sitting at 1.5billion each. I'm not even sure what to spend the money on, but I guess a little insider trading couldn't hurt.

I'm just after the first flying mission with Trevor and I bought the airfield.

What stock should I buy at this stage of the game?

Question about the BAWSAQ site.

Value is the amount of money you dumped into it, right? And change is the amount of extra money you win or lose?

Reason why I ask this is because the Total Value is exactly the amount of cash I dumped into it.

Cool. Just saw that the guys over on reddit are going to sell in bulk at 10pm GMT on Monday. I'll see how things are tomorrow night first before I make any further decision!

Noted.

I'd imagine people may sell early so I'll keep an eye out.

I'm sure we can squeeze a few more mil out.

Why not?

Like Todd said "It's millions, how can you turn your back on more?"

Maaan.....still not complete with the story, but my Trevor barely has any cash....I think I have 2 more heists left, but I know I have only one more Lester mission, 2 if I am lucky. Last one I did was the bus mission. Not starting over either...guess I reallllly need to start stocking it up..

It's funny that /vg/ and GAF thinks they can outsmart other forums by selling early. Servers will probably be down Sunday night, it's going to be a cluster fuck if we don't wait it out until Monday.

Save as many Lester missions as you can until after the story when you get the maximum amount of earned cash, I posted a guide a few posts back that will help you maximize your profits on the investments for Lester's contracts post-game.

Yea I realized all Lester's missions were like that too late. When I got the game at launch, I took 2 days off work & put close to 33 hours on it - I did nothing but play the game and ignore the outside world. Over half of Lester's were completed in that time span, and once I learned of what they can do it was far too late. I haven't really had much time to play since (hence why I took the time off), and I wish I wasn't so gung ho about the game so early on :\

I know I have some time to go, and I did read your guide. That along with the remaining Lester missions should help out some. I haven't done ANY investing though outside of the Lester missions though, thinking of joining the Ammunation bandwagon everyone is on. And whatever else I/people think will work.

Probably should finish the game first though...

Playing the GTA V stockmarket has caused me to pay much more attention to my IRL stocks. Go figure.
Playing the GTA V stockmarket has caused me to pay attention to the competitors of the stocks I own in IRL and plan acts of corporate sabotage (Blackberry was no accident).

Awww yeaaa...
Gimmie that paper.
Pißwasser and BurgerShot could be potential targets right now.
edit: Sick OT
thank ya sir, Ohio-GAF gotta represent!

That OT looks so obnixous, juvenile and sketchy.
Perfect for discussing stocks I like it OP
/$
it is so gratifying when the masses understand the complexity & depth of my work /kanye

Anyone who plans to use the stock market to get a massive amount of money should be cautious that the game uses a signed 32-Bit integer (i.e any value higher then 2,147,483,647 will roll over into a negative value)

This is actually very easy to do on a replay or anyone who holds out the Assassination missions.

http://imageshack.us/a/img407/171/2ljb.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img690/5444/l95p.jpg

At the end game I had about 36 Million split between all three characters. Redwood Juror Assassination left me with 280 Milllion (Invest in Debonaire before Mission, Do Mission, Wait until Debonaire stocks raise, sell off Debonaire shares, invest all in Redwood, wait until Redwood stabilizes, sell all of Redwood stocks.

After the iFruit Assassination I had about 560 Million, and the Vapid Assassination it jumped to 980 Million. Gold Coast bumped me up to 1.6 Billion.

This is the point where everyone should generally stop. I happened to get that random hitchhiker mission after the story mode and my stock market stuff, telling me the hint about Tinkle Stocks, I decided to dump my 1.6 Billion into that. I figured why not.

smashed up my car and tried to fix it I was surprised to see the game told me I could not afford to repair it and noticed my money was in a negative value.

Have fun with the stock market but don't go too crazy.
many thx! quoted & added to the OP

So Hal is up to 7.10, I bought in at 5 so should I sell at this point? Worried it's going to crash, lol. Apparently the high was $50, how in the hell did it get to that at one point?

I'm new to understanding the Stocks in GTA V. I only have about 20mil with each character right now.

Is it still worth investing in HAL and PIS? They've gone up a bit but I wonder if I might be too late. Thanks!

Try buying some TacoBomb stocks, then go destroy their trucks (edit: Cluckin Bell trucks) and fuck em up a little! I did this but instead of TacoBomb i bought BurgerShot stocks and kinda worked! It did go 0.75 up in a few minutes and i sold!

Here is a table with the rival companies:
Screen_shot_2013-09-24_at_16.26_.17_.png

Spotted a couple of eCola trucks. Gonna blow them up and see if raine rises

So I want to save the assassination mission for after the main story is over but it won't let me do the FIB mission until I do the first one (pharmaceuticals). That's normal I guess?

I don't know but if you do it the stock you want to invest is Betta(I believe) which I believe is in Bawsaq

Just save before you do the assassination

I just sold all my PIS stocks. I made a 350 million dollar profit on them. Each character has about $650 million each now. More than enough for all the properties and any vehicles I want once garages are fixed.

Just going to relax and muck around now.

The real investing starts when GTA:O is released! Proper risk, no more multiple save files!

Ones to look out for and monitor closely after we all cash in on PIS:

Badger [BDG] - It's been plummeting all week. Once it starts to rise, it could be a solid investment.

Betta Pharmaceuticals [BET] - This is more blind hope on my part than anything else due to an outstanding investment when I couldn't understand BAWSAQ. Nevertheless, it has to rise again sometime, right?

Crevis [CRE] - After falling steadily all week, this one is better left for another week or so before deciding on investments, but we should keep an eye on it nonetheless.

Shark [SHK] - This took a steep fall today. If that pattern continues, it might be an idea to invest in once it starts to rise again.

Tinkle [TNK] - Another one falling steadily, although it's still too high to invest in just yet.

Vom Feuer [VOM] - This is starting to level out after a week of decline. If it starts going back up, this is definite investment material.

Zit [ZIT] - It's plummeting. If it starts to rise at all, throw some cash money in there and see what happens.

I'm not sure how GTAO will play into all of these fine ideas, so take everything with a grain of salt for now.

I don't think it did, it was $1 the day the game launched and stayed there for the first several days. Then it slowly started rising to where it is now.

There's a random encounter with a guy who will tell you to invest in this right away after you complete his event. I did and it rose almost immediately so I sold it to make about $60k profit real fast. I don't know how high it goes or for how long but that's the "easiest" way to manipulate that particular stock.

Sorry for the small spoiler but this is the stock thread after all. I gotta share any tips I get.

I'm very curious as well as to how GTAO will affect stock prices...

Hmmm, maybe we should see if Off-Topic has any stock gurus we can pull in here for assistance

I invested around 5 million into PIS. The profit right now is around 300‚000. Should I sell?

That seems like pennies for a $5 million investment. What good will an extra 300k do for you if you sold your stock and got $5 million back right now? I'd hang on to see how far it goes.
