That wasn't trade-marked as soon as they finished the previous Half-Life game?
Why didn't someone else take it?

Rosti looks at trademarks on a daily basis and didn't want to make a thread and asked me to.

First pre-order image is up!@#!#!@!!@

Ok...so it's something I put together in 2 minutes in photoshop :p

Didn't Rockstar renew "Agent" trademark recently? Trademark renewal means nothing for me. I need better proof, that Valve is planing to release H-L3.

This thread is hilarious and I hate to rain on the parade, but while the original Half Life was a game changer, Half Life 2 was a pretty hit and miss FPS :/

Why do they need to file a trademark for the third entry when "Half Life" is already registered?

As a simple but charming internet-expert I can only suppose that Sony trademarked Infamous and The Order as close upcoming releases - hence, Valve did this as well.

//edit...humhum, the quote makes no sense. But I take it as it is, now.

Apparently according to others ITT this wasn't a renewal but rather a new registration. It seems rather telling that they would do this now, after all their announcements.

Opinions are nice, but Half-Life 2 set the pinnacle for FPS games when it was released as well.

It doesn't hold up as well now, but the bar was set for the time.

They wouldn't dare make it SteamOS/Steambox or whatever it is exclusive now would they...? would they...? lol

They might try a few months anyway but I bet PS4/X1

So trademarking HL3 kills Gaf - what happens when Valves announces the game officially?

Jesus people murder GAF why don't you. It's just a damn trademark it will probably be a year until we actually hear anything tangible.

EDIT: NM didn't realize it hit the top of reddit. sorry continue as normal!
