New Destiny screenshots

Compressed screenshots end up looking like actual gameplay on screen. Look at some Halo 3 "screenshots" and tell me it actually looks that good. They completely rid of the jaggies.
Yes you have a point there, although halo 3 is running at a lower res than 4.
Compressed screencaps until we get higher bitrate version:

Lighting is great.

Okay, thanks. Halo 4's IQ doesn't match that in any way, shape or form.

This is what it really looks like (pretty much):

I don't know what to tell you friend but I have halo 4 up on my screen right now to compare and it definitely looks better than that shot. Could just be that I use a nice monitor but it looks magnificent, not quite as nice as the destiny screens but not too far off either. Anyway isn't this game quite a ways from release? Plenty of time for improvement.

1:1 direct screencaps.

More "fair" gameplay vs gameplay first-person shot, Destiny looks better than Halo 4 but not by much.

I think if you were to mix together screenshots of both of these games many people would have a hard time telling the difference. Destiny looks like a typical cross-gen game, nothing impressive imo.

A whole generation after and they still can't match their old bullshots. I love their games, but I know to never fall for their pre-release hype, specially when it comes to graphics; they are the masters of bullshots.

The shots posted by Wishmaster92 on this page are not bullshots at all, they are 1:1

Halo 4 may look great for a current gen game, but it came at a very heavy cost. Halo 4's campaign was far too linear and restrictive for a Halo game in my opinion. (kept you contained in set boundaries of the level with no room for replayability like the previous Halo games)

The graphics were never what made Halo special. And hopefully Destiny has the massive scale we imagine it does and even bigger sequences than Halo 3 ever did.

Don't think there would be a point to compare the 360 version of Destiny with Halo 4 even considering the sheer difference in scale.

Considering the projected scope and depth of the universe they're creating, the visuals are understandably not up to par with some of the announced graphical showcase titles for next gen. But you can't deny that art direction tho. Beautiful.

Initially thought those screenshots were gorgeous and all next gen like, but after people have posted some Halo 4 screens, man, there isn't much difference visually.

I mean sure Destiny is bound to be leaps and bounds better under the hood but side by side with Halo... Meh.

Is it just me or do these look next gen?

Fucking amazing to think it went from Halo 3 to this on the same console

This is why I am so excited for Halo 5.

Anyway, back on track, does anyone know what the expected next gen release date is for destiny? I thought it had quite a while before release? I say this because of what seems to be a lot of negative criticism of the shots released so far. They should have plenty of time to polish everything up by release. Besides the footage we have seen so far has looked really nice. Also current and next gen versions aren't launching at the same time are they?

Im not buying into the hype of Destiny. It looks cool so far, but it doesnt grab me yet.

Its certainly grabbing me, would love to see this release on PC.

I have a feeling we will see it eventually, no way will Activision want to leave profits on the table.

I'm really anxious about a PC release for Destiny. If Bungie goes completely silent and there's no sign of one happening, this game will be a major factor in my decision whether or not to get a PS4.

This couldn't be less of a port beg since I'm fully willing to let Destiny be my killer app, I just don't want to re-teach myself how to play shooters with analog sticks...

not bad at all for an early game, even impressive, remember Resistance: FoM or GRAW and years later Killzone 2/3 and Halo 4... we're in for a treat ( I hope ! )

There's just something about Bungie's art that never sits right with me. Maybe it's just the character design. I'm not sure. I will play the shit out of this game though, don't get me wrong.

For me it's a bit the opposite. Playing with WASD over analog stick movement isn't nearly as comfortable a lot of the time, even if aiming is more precise. Strain especially starts to build up over extended periods if I need to use shift to run a lot or something. Not sure about those game-pad keyboard monstrosity things, might get one to try some day for certain genres.

But yeah if there's a PC version, I'd probably get that, otherwise it could easily end up being one my PS4 killer apps.

Best of both worlds: Launch Destiny as non-Steam game, use Steam Controller with immaculately customized controls.

This game is SO FUCKING GOOD LOOKING.

But I really don't want this only for the graphics :( Let's hope it can appeal to me in any other way...

Something about the lighting is off to me. Like the creature shooting a big beam of light out of it's head. There should be light everywhere. But it only really appears on the guy in front.

As an Activision published game, Destiny would, most likely, be Steamworks.

You shouldn't have to launch the game through Steam for the controller to function, you are probably thinking of streaming compatibility through SteamOS. The controller will be completely native, just launch the game and configure the controller.

I would still play with M/KB

I believe I had a weird moment and started thinking about Titanfall for some reason.

But yeah, Steam Controller will work with everything regardless. Hopefully you can do mixed layouts for games that support mouse+controller simultaneously, i.e. assigning the left pad as an XInput left stick, but assigning the right pad as a mouse. Even if that's not possible, I'm sure someone will come up with a good acceleration-free method for translating between pad usage and virtual analog sticks.

Well, there is the difference of that the Destiny part can easily be played with multiple people and I'll assume it has more open areas (but I cannot be sure of that) since Halo 4 kind of sucked in that regard.

I'm really looking forward to this game.

In fact, my whole family is. Everybody I know is buying a PS4 mostly to coop on this.
