New Destiny screenshots

Some weak textures but loving the sense of scale and the art style.

I really hope the IQ is that clean in the final product.

I haven't been following this much, did they mention anything about vehicles?

Yes, there will be vehicles.

I'm still thinking Bungie isn't showing us everything. Obviously we haven't seen space travel or PvP, but I can't help but think there are some huge things they have yet to reveal.

At least I hope.

Do Destiny, Halo 3, and Halo 4 all run on the same engine?

There's definitely a common code base, but Destiny's engine probably diverged some time after Halo 3 came out and Bungie struck their deal with Activision. 343 is iterating on what was used for Halo: Reach.

THOSE SS looks amazing. are they in game? is it possible for the next gen version to look like that. Excited for the game

Got my code from amazon :)

Not sure concept art = vehicles. Unless they announced vehicles in a press somewhere and I missed it.
Vehicles are confirmed. I think the only footage we've seen is of a speeder bike type thing in the E3 demo.

The IQ looks great, but I imagine that's because it's a bullshot. Other than the IQ, it doesn't look technically much different than Halo.

I wish this was third-person, but I'll deal. I have no problem with first-person, I just like to see the character I'm playing as. Anyway, game looks great.

Some of you are nuts, this looks a lot better than a PS3 or 360 level game, plus the scale is ridiculous. I played Halo 4 and I didn't think it looked all that great.

The camera does pull out to third person for certain special attacks and it's supposedly in third person for hub areas as well.

I just hope the combat is good. One thing I can't stand about BL is the spongy, crummy aim down the sights combat. I know Bungie can do some gunplay when they want to but after Reach...I'm skeptical

(even Reach's combat is better than BL)

From what Bungie has shown, Destiny's combat looks only marginally more sophisticated than Borderlands. So hugely disappointing, especially coming from the "thirty seconds of fun" in Halo. I really want them to show something that'll change my mind.

Okay, so the same code base is consistent between the games. I'm sure the engines have diverged in an extreme way in terms of net code.

This looks like an extreme bullshot to me. Could just be because it is downsampled.

Compressed screenshots end up looking like actual gameplay on screen. Look at some Halo 3 "screenshots" and tell me it actually looks that good. They completely rid of the jaggies.
Uhh, no. The Halo 4 screenshot is terrible quality and definitely worse than the game.

Okay, thanks. Halo 4's IQ doesn't match that in any way, shape or form.

This is what it really looks like (pretty much):

That screen is really compressed. I'm not the biggest fan of Halo 4, but it looks a fair bit better than that.

It's cross-gen. The next-gen versions are always going to be held back to some extent.

This is a valid point that people need to realize. Last gen systems are going to hold the next gen versions back.

This game could be cool if there was a ton of barren landscape with absolutely nothing in sight. I want huge, alien worlds.

One game that came close to that feeling was Mass Effect. I loved exploring the random planets that had almost nothing to speak of on them. It really felt like I was in the middle of nowhere in space, just checking things out.

I really wish there was something... new going on with this game. I really want it to be something fresh but it just feels like a "this-meets-that" mashup. Most of the screens could have a Mass Effect 4 logo on them and I'd believe it. The E3 demo made it seem like a borderlands mmo... neat, but not really groundbreaking. Especially when Ubi drops The Division and presents basically the same features but with a day-z sort of scary dark reality feeling.

Sorry to muck up a screenshots thread but it really does bum me out. I remember looking upon each new Bungie IP back in the day with awe and anticipation, but Destiny just isn't doing it. :/
