None of what happened in the chapter qualifies as dues ex machina, so accept what you said is wrong in this context and move on, just you were arguing some time ago that part one in Naruto and part 2 have the same quality and you were criticizing people for even thinking otherwise.

The hilarious thing is that definition describes what happened with Urahara in this chapter perfectly.

You guys are arguing about Bleach and for some reason Naruto gets dragged in as well, hahaha.

If you say something he likes sucks, he says something other people likes sucks. Doesn't sound familiar at all. *cough* *cough* One Piece *cough* He just perceives I like Naruto better on the grounds I don't even read One Piece, but he doesn't even understand the basis of the argument he's quoting back at me. I don't think Naruto's Part I was good, either.

Urahara showing up with the pills is word for word the definition you just quoted. Are you illiterate?

The shinigami did not earn their bankais back in any way, shape, or form. They were taken from them with zero effort, they were totally beaten without them, and now because Urahara showed up out of nowhere literally through a magic door with a handful of magic beans, they all get their bankais back. There was no arc, there was no suffering, there was no effort. It is a solution with no struggle. Urahara in this instance literally is the god from the machine. He appeared during the climax and just fixed everything for everyone with the push of a button.

The shinigami do not need to earn what´s has always been theirs. He came from HM. Urahara knows how portals between dimensions and that´s shown in the manga many times. He is the first one who opened a portal to HM. Urahara has made inventions in the past when he had opportunity to study the things. You are saying that Urahara has never invented anything and just showed up and solved even though it´s proven that Urahara is the smartest guy and best scientist in the manga. No suffering? Hitsugaya, Rangiku, and Soi Fong disagree.

Also, regarding this "technique being used twice," you are writing fanfiction. Urahara did not explain in any capacity the specific mechanic behind how this pill is absorbed, nor the way they were teleported to people. You are guessing at why they work, deciding your guess is canon, and using that to fuel arguments.
It´s by no means fan fanction. Urahara stated that he transferred these black pills, and we have seen this kind of transfer happen twice in the manga by Hacchi and Tessai. There´s already a precedent that this transfer technique happened already.

For the third time in five posts - it's. not. the. teleportation. Are you even reading what people are telling you?

The shinigami do not need to earn what´s has always been theirs.

I do not agree, which is the foundation of where we differ here. The shinigami, in an astonishing display of ignorance and short-sightedness, all unleashed their bankai at the same time, knowing full well that the enemy had some method of suppressing them. "We'll only find out by using them, der!" And then they were gone. It was a huge tactical error, and they were soundly thrashed because of it.

How do they redeem themselves for this blunder? They perfect other skills, thinking they can compensate. The other skills are not good enough, and they are defeated anyway. Their best effort simply was not good enough. They have earned defeat, fair and square.

Then Urahara shows up, undoes their initial blunder for them, and now they get to fight at full power again. Great work, Shinigami, you have learned nothing, because you were bailed out by Urahara at the last second. Your seemingly unsolvable problem was suddenly and abruptly resolved by the contrived an unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability, or object.

I am all for defending things against silly attacks. This is not one of those times. Maybe next week it'll all make sense, but right now, much of this is gibberish and/or just lazy.

The fact that its explained in a way that fits in the plotline doesn't make not abysmal storytelling. Urahara still popped up with a solution to everyone's problems.
Explaining a plot point > not explaining one. I'm not sure what you don't get about the concept. Yes it's abysmal, but it isn't anything worse than abysmal. I reserve F grade for the lowest of quality stuff.

Bleach
Urahara to the rescue. I didn't realize the pills would make the shinigamis hollow. I guess it's a natural extension of his research from all those years prior, but still kinda weird. Whatever, as long is it speeds up these initial fights and gets back to Ichigo.

Naruto
I totally forgot about Kakashi sitting in the other realm. Anyone else expecting him to land the finishing blow on Obito? Or perhaps saving him at the end? I assume Kishi showed him as a reminder for things to come. Is that final panel showing a merger of Susanoo and the Kyuubi? If so, that might be cool. So long as it doesn't get worfed like everything else so far.

One Piece
Sanji is such a badass, but Dofla owned him hard. Finally getting the official name of his fruit is nice, but we all figured it out years ago. Law is looking like a real boss this chapter. Flashback incoming, but we know he's going to lose this fight. Dofla is for Luffy to beat. I'm expecting Law to get captured by that admiral and we might end up with a mini rescue arc where the SHs save Law from capture and then continue on to take down Kaido. Luffy has set his mind on that goal, so I don't expect him to waiver at this point. Even if that wasn't Law's real intention, he's gonna get wrangled into it. Dressrosa has been a lot better than Punk Hazard IMO. PEACE.

When we saw Madara cloak the kyuubi with his susanoo in the flashback vs Hashirama, that was totally just to foreshadow this upcoming Naruto/Sasuke teamup. I'm surprised we didn't pick up on it. Or maybe people did, and I just didn't notice.

Bleach
I have nothing much to say that hasn't been said, and I don't want to add fuel to the already hellish fire.
I just wish Hitsugaya died. That's all I wanted.

Naruto
I still can't wrap my head around Sasuke and Naruto just working together.
I hope there is some actual development soon.

One Piece
I would like to see a flashback. Hopefully, next week we will get one!

Nah, this is definitely a new low!

Why can't we all just get along? ;_;

Becuase there's a difference between a deus ex and a plot hole, but both are terrible storytelling devices. Not caring about a deus ex so long as it doesn't create a plot hole is pretty much an arbitrary standard.

We are like a weirdly connected but dysfunctional family.

In a way, I guess even "You're stupid no you" arguments that we so often have in here is a sign that, hey, we actually do get along with each other, although in a weird sort of way, hahaha.

When did I ever say I did not care about a deus ex? My entire review was about it, afterall. It's crap, I know. But the chapter itself doesn't warrant an F quality grade. Naruto does because most of the pages contain derivative content where basically nothing happens outside the normal speeches about how awesome Naruto is, which has been a part of the manga since day one. Kishimoto put no effort into anything but the art in chapters like this, while Kubo did have to actually think about why he's using a deus ex machina and give us a pretty decent explanation for it. Kubo put effort into pulling a fast one, and no that doesn't mean it's good, it just means that it gets a higher grade than an F.

Secondly the concept of deus ex machina being instantly bad is laughable. Deus ex machina can be used effectlively in the context of the story. Since the characters in question never got a story arc, the deus ex machina is in no way warranted whatsoever. If Bleach had flashbacks of all the characters about how they got their bankai and maybe stories about them getting attached, or something along those lines to suggest that they really need their bankai back. A deus ex machina like Urahara just did could've been built up and be perfectly fine, but it wasn't as it came up INSTANTLY after the Shinigami got their bankai taken away and went away to train for a bit so they can fight without it.
I'm thinking of moving from the Naruto show to the manga for good. This show is like 40% filler and flashbacks.
So is the manga.

I don't dislike anyone on ManGAF. I enjoy reading everyone's posts, but sometimes, I wish people could be a bit less serious.

Same here. Its fun to poke fun at stuff or share an opinion but when it gets serious then it just ruins the mood completely.

Beam do us a favor and stop getting into these arguments with Grimace. At the same time the others could show some restraint and not throw fuel into the fire after it gets started. >.>

Often times I actually feel like people in here are not actually as serious as their posts make them appear like.

Or maybe that's just because I am a laid back sort kind of guy.

He's not illiterate, however you're oblivious and clearly havent been reading the chapters like you should. It was stated in an earlier chapter that Urahara was working on a solution to the stolen bankai problem. The only thing "unexpected", and I find using the term here to be quite dubious at best, is him showing up at exactly the right time, though this could have been expected as well, since he's had a history of showing up exactly when he is needed the most.

Hey look everyone's fine and it seems like even Outarou is going to survive. Kind of disappointing, even though I expected it.

Now to see how this annoying insect will finally go down.

Don't know this for sure. Luffy wouldn't do so well against him anyway I think based on their skillsets. From a post on another forum about it:
Not sure how he'd overcome the issues with a fight in the air (clear skies battle maybe?), but I think Zoro is a better match for Doflamingo. The reasoning is the attacks used by Do and the strengths and weaknesses of Sanji and Zoro when it comes to haki.

I would say that Sanji has the best observation haki based on his two years of training. As such, he can see attacks coming, but in most cases can't do anything about blocking them unless it's blunt damage. This is seen I the most recent chapter when he knows the attack is coming, but gets hit anyway. I think his armament is fairly strong, but is more focused on attack than defense. He's closer to a glass cannon in that he still takes a good deal of damage because he's not the best at blocking it with haki.

Zoro, on the other hand, has a fairly weak observation haki (direction lol), but he can make up for that in terms of what is visually in front of him. He still has it to an extent, but not nearly at the level of Sanji's. On the other hand, I am betting that his armament haki is well balanced between attack and defense based on training with Mihawk. It doesn't hurt that his swords are for both.

As such, against the types of attacks that could come against him from Doflamingo, he may be better suited in a fight. The only real issues are the flying and the puppetmaster technique that Do uses. Not sure if you could beat it off with armament haki or if king's is the only one that would be useful.

The last piece there really only works if Doflamingo's 'control' attack actually works differently than his current regular attacks. Sanji could see the whips coming, but not the stings that held him in place. Think about that one for a second.

My rule of thumb is to step away from the thread for 12-24 hours when big 3get posted. The thread is pretty great at all other times!

Can you imagine how hard it can feel sometimes being a fan of Naruto on wednesdays here? Hahaha.

Sometimes I feel like I am all alone.... :(

Show me one example of me comparing Bleach to Naruto. ONE. If you can't, then shut the fuck up.

What I was saying is what I quantify as an F chapter. A = Excellent, B = Great, C = Average, D = So-so, F = Shit. I don't think the complete package of Bleach this week was "shit."

I'd love to hear your example of a "effectively used" deus ex machina,.
Any built up deus ex machina works. The dragonballs in Dragon Ball are huge dues ex machina, but the arcs where the characters go on journeys to search for them, overcoming obstacles to attain them. That's all it needs. There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with the idea of something comes up that magically fixes certain problems, just how it's applied which Bleach did it terribly.

You are alone! You need more Naruto no jutsu in your posts to make us agree with you. ;P

Nah, I don't really want people to... "agree" with me since yes, I can recognize people like different things and people have different tolerance about stuff they don't find entertaining.

It doesn't stop me feeling a tiny bit ouch though, every time Naruto--or a person being a fan of it--is criticized in very scathing terms such as "retarded" and the like, hahaha.

What the fuck are you saying? You talked about Naruto like three times in that response when nobody asked for your opinion on why Naruto sucks. Don't deflect, I don't care about your opinion on Naruto. Your random aside on how you grade chapters has basically nothing to do with what I asked you; please go back and read the question asked.

The dragonballs aren't a DEM, because they're explained from the very beginning. Do you understand the question being asked of you?

That quote just reminds me how Oda dropped the ball with the timeskip/training. Weakest part of One Piece for me. Dragon does not give a shit about Luffy nor does Robin while training with the revolutionaries. And Zoro training with Mihawk hampers their rivalry for me.

The stupidest part was the fake Straw Hats. Forced unfunny 'comedy' only good to pad things unnecessarily.

I can't understand how anyone read Swagomoto as a series. One chapter was ok but now it is just.. well stupid and silly.

Edit: wait.. the dragonballs deux es machinas? What? They would be if the manga was just about fighting from the start and suddenly someone dies and all are like search the mystic ball who grant wishes, and would have not been mentioned ever before. But they are explained in the beginnig if they would be DEMs so would be devil fruits
