Watch Dogs delayed until the Spring of 2014 (after April 1st)

This is actually really good news for me. Was thinking I actually had too much already preordered so should be able to get through them before this drops. Sucks for those that either had this bundles or wanted it bad : (

Well, GTAV PC comes out sometime in Q1 2014, so they can reuse that ad, just change the dates!

Still want this game, though.

They played GTA5 and were blown away

Probably this lol

Watchdogs probably also had the usual UbiSoft bugginess and they need time to refine it.

I think this is pretty good news. Holiday seasons are bloated, and open-world games aren't going to touch GTA this year.

Right into the eyes of the next gen GTA rerelease.

SMART!

But this is fucked. It was THE game I wanted to play this holiday. I still havent pre ordered or anything but this is a bit of a kick in my next gen hype.

Not too upset. I was considering the Wii U version but hadn't committed. Come April, I'm sure it will have no competition on the platform. Kinda sucks as I was slightly anticipating (pending reviews) but at least all versions are getting delayed (meaning there's still the overall game for them to finish).

I will be shocked if this is the last delay for the game.

Ubisoft knows this game has the hype to become a huge franchise for them, so they will not risk launching a disappointing rushed game.

If you want to maximize sales you release a game on the Fall not Spring.

During the same month as several other heavy hitters in your same genre?

I'd wager spring will be quite nice sales wise. no major competition, and next gen owners desperate for new games to play.

Can you imagine the bugs this game had for them to do this? I mean fuck the game was not playable at all to the public at nearly any expo/convention the last couple of months. Walk off the beaten path and the game probably eats your soul.

wow...one month from launch, and then poof....it's delayed a good 6 months. I feel for folks who pre ordered a launch next gen Watch Dog console bundle.

If 360 and PS3 were holding them back, then why not just delay those? Let me say, my "wow" was because that is some serious speculation. Why would Ubi just do Microsoft this favor of delaying it for PS4 too? Seems pretty implausible.

As far as I know, the PS3 version of FFXIII was delayed because of the 360 version, so it wouldn't be unheard of.

I can't say I'm not disappointed, but this is probably for the best. If the game ends up better because of this, then fine by me.

Also glad to see that (at least initially) it appears people who preordered hardware bundles aren't going to be screwed.

I used to be interested in this game, and then they just started showing too much of it and it started to turn me off with how the hacking mechanic seemed to be the crunch of the game. Now with the delay I'm feeling even less enthused about checking it out. It'll be interesting to see how this game does with sales and reviews next year.

This was the launch game I wanted the most, so it's a little disappointing. Now I have to decide if I want to replace it with something else or not.

Right? I was like ok this is cool, but I was not blown away. I was more blown away with what R* has done with older tech.
Yeah, it really surprised me what GTAV pulled off on PS3, especially given the series history of looking like crap in favor of being an open world. Now GTAV got to have both, and even GTAIV wasn't too bad relatively! Watch Dogs meanwhile looked good, but not that improbable on current gen consoles or at least PCs that could curbstomp current gen consoles.

And thirding the QD sentiment. That really was amazing looking, and I can actually believe that can be the minimum of what QD pulls off on PS4 (though I don't expect that to be the standard due to differing game design aims among developers.)

Any answers on what this means for pre-order bundles from Amazon? I am going to be supremely pissed if my PS4 preorder goes down the toilet because of this shit. Haven't had time to skim the entire thread.

Disappointing - I was very much looking forward to this. Still, if the game is better as a result, I'm all for it. And now we wait for the inevitable cancellation of the Wii U version...

Uhmm so close to the launch. Something must be very wrong

I agree, this is much more than just a marketing decision. The game must have been is a pretty poor state to be delayed this much. I mean if it was a simple marketing decision it would have been moved maybe a month or two back. This much of a delay means the game needs serious work.

Pretty disappointed as this was the only next-gen title I was interested in playing this holiday season. =/

This sucks MASSIVE balls since I pre-ordered the game via the PS4 bundle through Amazon. However, props on Ubisoft for realizing that the game needed more work and deciding to actually give the game more development time.

I don't think some people understand how huge of a move this is, they already promised the game to be bundled with PS4's at launch. There is tons of advertising devoted to this, and they have now lost the ability to be a launch game which would boost sales. They literally just said "screw all that, this game ain't done yet."

Props, though next time realize this quicker.
