So to start, this is the first thread I've made on Neogaf even though I have like a 400 post count and have been on here since last December. In light of this if speculation threads like this one are against the forum rules please feel free to lock it/demote/ban me or what have you.
I would have posted this in a general thread about 3D World, but I chose not to cause of it's spoiler-like nature and the fact many members are on media black-out. If what I'm about to present is old news than please feel free to point and laugh at me. Anyways, while not mind-blowing I think Rosalina may be heavily present/maybe even playable in Super Mario 3D World. To make this easy to understand I'm going to list each piece of evidence numerically, going from known (1) to obscure/likely missed (3).
1. Green Stars and the Meteor Shower.
I'm positive all of you have noticed by now that SM3DW has Green Stars as collectibles and in the intro video a meteor shower can be seen in the background, what's interesting is that both tie back to SMG. The Green Stars being hidden within levels and the game opening up to a Meteor shower are both shared by SMG and SM3DW. What I find interesting the most though is why Nintendo would use Green Stars (an item that prior had been exclusive to SMG and SMG2) as collectibles when they could have easily just have gone with the bland star coins from SM3DL. I'm thinking this has something to do with Nintendo's vision of 'creating the ultimate Mario', both the Green Stars and Rosalina are elements from SMG thus in an attempt to pool together what's great about Mario, elements from SMG are returning. Considering the nature of these green star's I'm thinking they must unlock something, possibly levels or another character.
2. The Easter Egg in the Artwork.
As pointed out by GameXplain in this video near the very end (19:22), a secret can be found in the offical artwork of SM3DW. Most of you know this, but in case you don't in this piece of artwork
In the upper-right corner the Comet Observatory from SMG can be seen, it's hard to see from here since the image is so small but it's there. Now why would the developers just throw an image of the hubworld from SMG all the way in the back of the official artwork if they didn't wan't it found?
3. An Other-worldly stamp collection.
This is the Stamp collection from the game.
There are 88 stamps to collect, but in particular there are 8 that I want you to focus on. The first (the yellow ones) is a collection of 4 stamps that are easy to discern what is hidden behind them, these four stamps are the player icons of the four playable characters within the game, they fit perfectly...
Yes I know they're not in black and white, but they fit. There are however 4 stamps that remain (the purple) that are rather curious. I"ve taken the liberty of cropping them out and blowing up them so you can see them better.
The first one seems to indicate that Rosalina may be playable in some form as it is also a character icon but, at least I think, includes Rosalina. The second appears to show Rosalina after she has taken damage notice the crown, the hair in the back, and most importantly the star-shaped wand. The third is clearly Rosalina standing next to several Lumas possibly serving as a general stamp for Rosalina. The forth I'm confident is the Toad Brigade Captains' new Icon, as the one shown at E3 (the last time we saw the Toad levels) was a placeholder. Anyway I'm going to wrap this up before I go any further, If I had to take a wild guess though I'd say that collecting a certain number of green stars will unlock Rosalina as character or something, regardless what do you think gaf?
