Call of Duty: Ghosts online multiplayer discussion thread

I noticed no one mentioned shotguns in this thread. I assume that means IW listened to the dumb haters and made shotties useless.

I think since MW3 the rate of fire has been limited (thanks to rapid fire modded controller cheats)

So yeah you can tap it as fast as you want but the gun won't fire faster than the max rate of fire.

That's correct, from what I've been seeing. No jams, but if you press the button faster than the gun's rate, nothing will happen.

I've played around with the M14 and the SVU, and their slower rate of fire really hampers usage (shame, because the SVU looks so cool). You need to learn the timing and space out your shots accordingly, otherwise you're losing time-to-fire in the moments between your spastic button mashes. Problem is, the proper rate of fire for each gun is so slow that you'll typically be killed in an even engagement with an enemy rocking an AR or SMG. I'm usually dead before I can even get a second shot off.

I even tried them both with burst fire, hoping that'd at least make them viable as a "kill the enemy with the first burst (and I'm screwed if I don't" kinda gun. Nope. The rate of fire affects the burst fire mode too, spacing out the shots and the delay between bursts. They're even less useful that way (and seemingly even less accurate).

The first marksman rifle, though (MR-28?), is pretty good, and it's my go-to gun thusfar. The rate of fire is high enough that I seem to get a one-to-one return on my button mashes, and it seems to still have all the power of the semiautomatics from older CoDs. It might not be quite the beast that the MW2 FAL was, but it's easily better than any of the semiautomatics that jammed.

Got a tracker sight and silencer on it. Works like a charm. It's a little dicey at range with the silencer, but I like the trade-off.

I dunno bout that. I had a guy taking me to school with one yesterday. It was getting frustrating :lol

Why do people complain about maps being too big? I like the bigger maps.

I'll never understand it. These maps are absolutely awesome. Not crampy, and I've yet to see a symmetrical map (fuck you BLOPS 2, and your stupid symmetry).

It's not that they are big (which is a plus) but rather that they are not linear, hip-fire fests like the BLOPS2. There are decent sight lines now, which make ARs usable again.

I like bigger maps too. It's still too early for me to judge because I haven't learned them yet, but my only concern is the deviation from the "three lanes" formula. MW3's maps were a mess, not because they were big, but because they had 80 entrances and exits which forced people to be hyper aggressive or more corner-campy than ever since they are afraid to move.

Also, for big maps, I feel like we're being spawned closer together than ever before. But it seems like this is always an issue when CoD games launch, so hopefully a corrective patch is on its way.

essentially, yeah. The maps are also a lot more open/large, so running with a shotty is risky anyway. I feel like the effective range on shotguns is remarkably lower than BO2.

Not really sure what gun I like the best yet. The MTAR is nice. I use it with the target sight or whatever (most expensive one) and it's pretty good. Range is a bit low, though. The Honey Badger is also nice with its built in silencer.

Yep.

I now, for the first time in COD in a long while, actually have classes based on what map it is lol

AR for long range, SMG/Shotgun for more close range etc. I get to switch it up now, it's great.

I'm digging the FAD at the moment, have a grip, dot site and the barrel attachment thing that helps with the damage drop off at long range.

interesting, I'll give that a whirl. I like having an offline mode (squads) where I can go to sort of test out new builds a bit. That way I don't have to spend rare unlock tokens on a weapon only to find I don't like it, especially since attachments also cost quite a bit.

Dead Silence, Amplify, Tac 12, Silencer, Agility, Steady Aim, IED, No Skulls, no secondary, no tacticals, specialist, etc is really good. With a headset anyway.

Hundred percent worse cod multiplayer ever.

Not one single map is good. So many different directions to get shot from which slows everyones game down.

Literally everyone creeps along adsing preaiming doorways and choke points. And because you die in a split second you have no chance to react.

If you're shot first you die.

Why they took out ctf and hardpoint from the competitive side I'll never know.

Such a shame because the smoothness of the game and hit detection feel amazing.

But, the bolded is what was wrong with COD (At least MW3 and BLOPS2)....

It's DAMN good that they slowed things down. COD can be a twitch shooter, without it being on acid. Also, symmetric, linear maps are the easy way out, and contribute to the game not being fun. If you like runnin n' gunnin with hipfire lasers and smg, this isn't your game. And to that, I say GOOD. Sorry, I'm not jumping you at all, but rather, those that want that kind of game.

Keep the maps with a consitent level of complexity, less corridors, etc. It's the ORIGINAL Infinity Ward way of doing things, and I stand behind it.

I thought this thread was for multiplayer discussion, there is another thread for all the other stuff.

Anyways, I'm on 360, played all COD's from COD4+ for approx 20-30 days playtime. I can usually tell if I rate the multiplayer much with the first few days, and I have to give it to Ghosts, it's a very good game. Whilst the maps are larger in scale they are giving me a MW1/2 vibe which is way better than any Blood kinda feel. Funnely enough it actually feels like W@W to me in the way the player control feels, don't know that it is.

Also, I'm not having the connection issues a lot of you are having, playing a lot better than Blops 2 or MW3, which is what I was most worried about :)

I like that things are slowed down. SnD is (was) my favorite game mode.

But I wouldn't say that these maps represent some old school philosophy. Call of Duty 4's maps were very symmetrical.

That were a few that were somewhat symmetrical as far as a side a/side b type of thing. But BLOPS2 maps are pretty much mirrored with a few insignificant details thrown in here and there.

Maps like Crash, Overgrown, Vacant, Chinatown, Broadcast, Downpour, District, Strike and Backlot are all classics.

Where as maps like Crossfire, Pipeline, Bog, Wetwork, Ambush, and Countdown were the ones that were somewhat symmetrical. Well, Wetwork and Bog were pretty damn symmetrical LOL.

Good to see that they lied and didn't fix quick scoping.

Because we need more assholes ruining the game for others by abusing autoaim.

COD's PC numbers will always be dwarfed by the console community, unfortunately, but I do feel that the insane amount of technical problems this game has is putting off a lot of people.

It's a shame, since the actual core gameplay is really good.

Something has to be done with the spawns. They just don't make sense at all. Its either that or people are camping the shit out of these maps as I'm getting killed from the most bizarre directions and corners.

ugh really am i the only one who is having horrible lag on pc? I mean i am stuttering like a madman and in killcams others look just mighty fine.

I have a question about shooting targets. If I don't use ADS and simply point at a player and shoot, I hardly ever hit them, even though my cursor is on them. However, if I use ADS and shoot at them, then I can generally take someone out. I'd like to know if this is normal behavior? Does the game favor ADS over simply pointing and shooting? It's really frustrating using a rifle, firing a shot even though I have the guy dead to rights and getting killed because they're using automatic weapons.

Feels like the game is not made for manual precision shooting and is made for ADS mainly.

Even though the game is basically unplayable for me, I've liked what I've kind of been able to see of the maps. Looking forward to patches that unfuck this shit.

BO2 maps pissed me off, way too small to be fun.

If it wasn't for the 6GB RAM requirement I think we'd see around 50 - 60k on PC, which is still pathetic but it would be a lot better than 20k. That being said, I have no problem finding a game ever, it's always pretty much instant.

I created a clan just for my mates but I can't edit the clan tag, apparently it has to be done via the app which isn't compatible with the Nexus 7 2013 for some reason.

I'm actually starting to warm to Ghosts, the first day of games I REALLY didn't enjoy it, but now I've adjusted to the slower gameplay, learned the maps and found a setup I like. It's still much, much harder to string kills together because of the map design, it's very hard to lock down an area so my KDR is the worst it has ever been, but in Ghosts I've decided not to care and just play.

I don't have either Black Ops 2 nor Ghosts, and I was planning to get Ghosts until I read a lot of the complaints about its MP. However, these complaints always happen when a new COD game comes out. I want to get one or the other during Black Friday, which would you guys recommend? I had thought Ghosts was getting dedicated servers on 360 which would have put it way above Black Ops 2, but that's not the case so I'm somewhat indifferent between the two right now.

I'd get Black Ops 1. Blops 2 was run by "target finder" LMGs.

Man - back in the day I could play Vacant all day and not get bored. They need to do classic maps DLC pack and I would buy in a heart beat.

This is normal. Bullets spread without steady aim (and still with steady aim, just to a lesser degree) from the hip. I would hate it otherwise.

Is anyone else getting addicted to those field operations?

I'm finding myself raging when I die before I can complete one more so then if I die while trying to get my scorestreaks lol

BLOPS 1 is the second best COD behind COD4 IMO. The ONLY issue the game had (at least on consoles) was hit detection. Old IW was clearly better at that. But the maps, gunplay, flow, etc, simply 'got it'. BLOPS2 tried to cater to a different crowd.

sickening.

Been really enjoying Extinction, so much so I've put over 20 hours into it alone. After you go through the 30 ranks you automatically go back to rank 1 but you can choose from these 'Prestige Relics' which you can add to your loadout if you want. There's 5 and it looks like you can choose one per Extinction prestige. The thing is they all make the game more difficult but you get more XP etc in return. I'm not sure what the point in prestiging is other than for the sake of it though. You keep everything you've unlocked and there's nothing to go for other than score. Saying that I'll still be playing it for a bit purely because it's fun but it feels a bit barebones so I hope they expand upon it a bit more with DLC. I'm enjoying it more than the standard multi tbh.

Really? I just seems like there's no skill involved at all. Anyone can simply snap aim at something, but actually putting your cursor on something and pulling the trigger requires more precision and would be more natural at the same time. Well, I guess I won't bother with rifles and stuff and just go with automatic weapons. Seems no point to bother with anything else.

I just had quite a shit time playing this. The game everyone else is playing (according to the killcam) still looks like so much more fun than the one I'm playing.

Adding and sending invites as I get the PMs.

Some are coming up not found. Make sure to:

1) Link your CallofDuty.com account to your GT or do it via the Call of Duty app. The latter is preferable.

2) Actually play a game of ghosts, mw3 or blops2 on the service. If you are waiting for the Xbox One or PS4, remind me then.
