COD:Ghosts PS4/XBO Comparisons show the same resolution (720p)?

Would IW risk this and lie to everyone about the Ps4 version being native 1080p? When it could possibly not be. Doesn't it even say native 1080p on the back of the Ps4 case.

Polygon could and probably did mess this up somehow.

What a mess

Interesting to see if reviewers still state that the resolution difference is noticable.
Edit: And there we go, IGN already did it. :/

I MUCH prefer the XONE screenshot. It looks way better. Clearer, brighter ... the lighting looks better. It's just my opinion but I am suprised that the PS4 doesn't really 'pop' after all the hype.

the xbone version looks kind of washed out and the colors look drab.

So the OP is saying that the comparison videos are comparing footage of the PS4 and X1 at 720p on both devices, and that they didn't use the PS4 in 1080p for their capture?

Not that the PS4 version of CoD isn't 1080p, just that the footage isn't?

The only conclusion not up for debate is that IW have delivered a car crash of a game, glad I'm getting Killzone over this steaming pile of shit...

Lol so you prefer the version IGN admits they recorded wrong with colorblind mode on (making reds pink and throwing off all the colors, not to mention how washed out it is).

They look the same to me... PS4 one is a little bit darker (helmet) and nicer.

Both look like crap TBH.

I mean PS4 dudes can buy KZ: SF instead, Xbone and PC dudes can buy BF4 instead.

Do not support the worst CoD game to date, people. And I am not talking about graphics.
I wouldn't say it's the worst game to date but it sure feels that way after years of CoD fatigue.

Game looks like hot garbage on everything. Why is this title even debated?

Because it's one of the biggest selling franchises of current gen that's just been a complete mess, fans (I'm not of them, prefer BF) deserve better on the whole, not just resolution but frame rate, optimisation, gameplay, the whole package.

I have a few friends who are by & large mainly CoD players & they've already traded ghosts in, for a franchise that's this successful it's player base deserves better than what they are currently getting.

I'm just glad I've saved £40 by simply not buying it.

Is the culprit here IW for lying or the capture devices not being setup correctly?

So the polygon "it may have been 1080p but I couldn't tell" might be accurate if the PS4s weren't set up correctly.

If this is the case, and it is not a problem with the video that we get to see, it would be the one of the funniest twists in resolutiongate to date.

Why are people getting mixed up, THE GAME IS NATIVE 1080P ON PS4 its the vs video that have captured ps4 running in 720p on the display settings output. Read people.

Games on current generation consoles have been able to render in different resolutions depending on the output setting of the console. It's not impossible that the PS4 version simply renders in 720p if you have the console set to that. It is however incompetent by those showing the game off if they didn't tell gaming press that it was being shown in a different resolution because clearly almost everyone thought they were being shown the game in 1080p.

Me too, but if you Watcj the video you will notice how it has a green hue and in some scenes it just looks unnatural. It's like IW decided to use the colors of the consoles to use for their hues lol

Which games do that?

To summarize, this really has little to do with the game Call of Duty: Ghosts.

I'm saying that something doesn't add up and I'd like to know why. If PS4 was confirmed to be 1080p and Xbox One confirmed 720p then why do the comparison videos and reviews look nearly identical? Is is something with the video capture, something with the output to TV or is there something with the PS4 version of COD:Ghosts.

When you post a comparison video or a review you better damn well have everything setup right or you're doing a huge disservice to your audience. If the PS4 was set to 720p then the sites need to state that fact up front. People with 1080p TVs won't be seeing that.

Why are people getting mixed up, THE GAME IS NATIVE 1080P ON PS4 its the vs video that have captured ps4 running in 720p on the display settings output. Read people.

But 1080p downsampled to 720p should looks different in aliasing to a native 720p. This is still not the case. Which means the PS4 version can do 720p (we assume it can do 1080p native too). The questions now are

1. Which version is everyone reviewing?
2. What does resolution do to the framerate?

Yeah, I'll be honest. I see no fucking difference at all.

Now, that is puzzling to me, because there should be at least a LITTLE difference between 720 and 1080 in those pics, but I see nothing.

Don't give me this bullshit that 720 and 1080 look exactly the same. So something is definitely off.

Giantbomb mentioned in their Resogun QL that they were capturing the game at 720p, which I assume means they had it outputting at 720p as well, despite being able to run at 1080; I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same issue here; capture equipment prefers/requires a 720 signal, so that's what they ran it at. But we'll see.

Im not sure it would look different at all, it screams of amateur hour, they really suck at this whole vs thing, check there other vs videos there a complete mess.

Nice bait.

EDIT: Wait, you were serious? Oh. My. God.

I agree. There were in such a rush to post the comparison videos no-one actually looked at the finished video and said "you know, there isn't any difference." It's a modern day emperors new clothes!

TSA even have a section where you have to guess which console it is! It is indistinguishable (though the presenter claims a big difference).

A little difference? Difference between 720p en 1080p is pretty massive, even with up-scaling.

You can see the difference between the PS3/X1 shots and the PC version running at 1080p, and you notice the resolution difference immediately, even in little things like glove textures etc.

PS4 at 720p native?

Explosion-PS4.png

PC at 1080p native.

The thing is though, IGN is one of the few outlets who actually say the PS4 version looks sharper.

The reviewer could have played the game at 1080p on PS4 and seen the difference and still not have obtained a correct capture. Maybe they were directed to different systems for capturing purposes, maybe it was captured by someone else entirely.

So basically a lot of people owe the Polygon reviewer an apology for jumping on his ass for not seeing the res difference which was not there to begin with?

whether next-gen, current-gen or PC, this game looks like shit so why bother? it's not a visually appealing game. people play it for the multiplayer, that's all.

Ok next question,
If the captures have in deed been done wrong, are we saying accidentally or deliberately ?

(Based on peoples perceived perceptions of I GN and Polygon)
