11./00. [3DS] Bandai Namco Games Presents J Legend Retsuden <TBL> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.11.07} (¥4.980) - 15.920 / NEW <60-80%>

Seems like a pretty good result. Wonder if Bandai would have been better off releasing this stuff separately on VC?

It's been said time and time again...the Wii U in Japan isn't getting any games and so it's forgotten. The few games Nintendo puts out simply isn't enough or often enough. In the States at least third party games can fill in the gaps, but that isn't happening at all in Japan. What third party is really doing anything for the system in Japan? None of them, really. There's no way it can survive on Nintendo alone. It's just not gonna happen.

Yeah Nintendos WiiU software output really is a new low for this company.

Not sure how it is in Japan, but here in the US I saw more evidence of the WiiU's issues at Best Buy. A couple were looking at the Zelda bundle and a sales associate was trying to explain that it isn't an expansion pack for the Wii.
The guy said "you mean it's like a Wii 2?" They had no idea.

And now to wait for Super Mario 3D World to work its magic...

I don't know what else Nintendo can do with the Wii U. Slashing prices won't mean anything without the software to back it up. Wii U wasn't ready for a November 2012 launch. They should've delayed it, although I know that would give it other issues, it would've been better overall for the system.

I think the Wii U is going to stabilize between 10K - 15K (excluding Mario launch week and other big games). Is a reasonable number.

Sub-10K next week, then some Mario effect and Holiday period should keep it at reasonable levels.

New year collapse again though I expect.

if Nintendo can keep the sales at 15k a week (with jumps on big game releases) that ok sales under the circumstances. they just need to stop it going under 10k

It really isn't, though. 15k a week is around 780,000 a year. With a given console life of 5 years, that's around 3.9 million sold total in Japan.

That's downright nightmarish for Nintendo, at BEST. Anything under that (and we all know it's going to end up well under 15k a week on average from here until the end of its life without DRASTIC change from Nintendo) is downright scary.

It's been a week.

And the Wii U has been out for a year now. If it had any sort of competent leadership, Nintendo would be having blockbuster after blockbuster coming out this holiday season.

Bullshit.
It's the second best selling platform YTD, no? That's not 'terrible' when the rest of the market sells low numbers.

It hasn't even sold a million yet this year. What position it's in is irrelevant consider that the only healthy platform in Japan is the 3DS.

So Exstetra sold over 3 times better on Vita than 3DS? I guess the game has nice graphics and people want to be able to actually see them?

And now to wait for Super Mario 3D World to work its magic...

3D World will cause a big jump. But the problem is I don't think anymore that it will cause sustained momentum.

What has happened so far is that a big release causes 1 week of relatively high sales and then it just falls back down the next week. Very big problem since big releases are so far in between.

Yeah Nintendos WiiU software output really is a new low for this company.
They need to open new studios, acquire new studios, forge more (and TRUE) unprecedented partnerships, and/or do a massive hire, because it's pretty inexcusable how they handled the Wii U launch. Trouble with HD development of not, they dropped the Wii in 2010, they've had plenty of time to work on games. Wii U debacle shows Nintendo's mismanaging things in house. Thought they would learn from the 3DS debacle but guess not.

It sells enough to keep the 3rd party developers interested. That's good enough.

It's still not a healthy platform, and numbers are still terrible for the Vita unless you live in another universe than me where a company quarter after quarter decrease their forecast, is a good thing.

The guy said "you mean it's like a Wii 2?" They had no idea.

And last week in Toronto, I saw a dad letting his kid pick out a new game from the Wii U rack. I think we have enough evidence of the Wii U's problems without going into anecdotes.

I don't know what else Nintendo can do with the Wii U. Slashing prices won't mean anything without the software to back it up. Wii U wasn't ready for a November 2012 launch. They should've delayed it, although I know that would give it other issues, it would've been better overall for the system.

I don't believe they can do anything. They didn't have a strong idea of what they were doing at first, they weren't properly prepared at launch, and they haven't been able to ramp up support as they've needed to.

If Nintendo manages to make a whole bunch of improvements, Wii U might be able to serve as a stepping stone for something later. But I can't imagine it going from where it is now to a success.

Bullshit.

Uhmmm... no. It's a terrible number period. The rest of the numbers show how poorly the Japan market is doing overall. Doesn't change the fact that Vita's numbers are very bad, man.

I know BF 3 sold better, and that COD and BF have decent sales, but it´s sooooo weird seeing Battlefield 4 topping the Japanese chart...

If Nintendo can manage to sell 5 - 6 Millions in Japan. Actually, i think is going to be a great success from Nintendo. Considering the Wii U position right now. So i think 10 - 15 K a Week. Is a good number, Without big releases, is a reasonable number.

The problem is that I don't think it will even sustain 10-15k after the holidays. Especially once the PS4 hits the market giving it more competition.

Time to get as many studios as possible, however way you can, NCL. You NEED their help. Then use the WiiU as a stepping stone to something else.

On the plus side, at least the bundles gave it some of a buffer from crossing streams with the Dreamcast...

Well, there's that. :lol

hes saying how the 3ds has never met a forecast
That's do to Nintendo's incompetence. The same company that expects 9 million Wii U's sold by the end of March 2014 (and won't budge on it!). 3DS is still a healthy and successful platform regardless of not hitting this company's dumb expectations.

The problem with all this is that they should´ve done it years ago. It´s already too late for the WiiU now but if they plan to release another console they Need to drastically increase their development capabilities.
