Blast Shield protects you from all explosives, not just IED. SitRep shows you SatComs and motion sensors and IMS and IEDs. Both are useful for more than just one lethal.

IEDs also give you way more time to get away than Claymores did.

They're perfectly balanced. People just use them since there's 80 ways to get into any spot on the map.

I can avoid all other explosives, and I don't need Sitrep. If I used them it would gimp me more than help me. And we seriously have different definitions of "perfectly balanced".

Any word on patch notes?

Not that I've seen, they're not exactly big on sharing information.

The IED is the best. I love it. It punishes rambo style play, extremely effective in domination. I have hundreds of IED kills from just tossing them next to a capture point.

I wouldn't say capping flags is a "rambo style" of play, and I'm not even that bothered about an I.E.D on a flag, it's more the ones just randomly put around the map. They're extremely hard to see, hard to hear and you get less than a second to react, if you're mid sprint you're dead no questions asked. I just feel they're way too easy to get kills with.

Playing on PS4. Only played about 4 matches so far, so these are very early initial impressions:

The maps I played do seem to be a bit too big. I don't think its fair to make a final judgement though until I have put a few hours into it, but I didn't love the maps I played so far. There were moments where is just felt like they kept going on and on. Just felt a little too big.

The game feels great on PS4 though. That controller is the shit. And I hardly saw any air killstreaks. Damage felt ok to me. Felt about the same as MW3. Maybe that was because I was doing pretty well though, despite having no fucking idea where I was going in those huge maps.

Right uninstalled it what a piece of shit is this software on PC. Unbelievable that this IW is saying nothing towards pc players and not fixing anything. Treyarch gets more respect from me overall then this.

To be fair Treyarch always put out a superior PC port. At least with them you get dedicated servers, audio options and an FOV slider. Plus their anti cheat in Black Ops 2 was fantastic.

Yes and just because of a small small team within Treyarch is dedicated towards the PC and for that i will wait for Treyarch for there new CoD. But i will play Blops 2 in the time being because that launch was great and fun from day 1. Ghosts..well just like MW3 just plain horrible.

Yeah, me and a group of friends cleared extinction last night.

All four reached
the end
with zero downs.

ah, I still haven't beat it yet! Everytime we start doing well something silly trips us up and it just devolves into insanity until we all die, lol. So much fun, though.

This game is ridiculously hard. Opposing players are much quicker at aiming and pulling the trigger than I. I had a great K/D in Black Ops 2 and now it's like 0.33

Is this game newbie friendly at all? I'm sure no game is really, but I've heard with BF at least you can score points with other stuff even if you are awful in terms of your K/D ratio.

The game isn't friendly at all. Maybe camper friendly.

This game sure tests your patience. I don't get how I can spawn and be killed in 2 seconds and have this happen more than once back to back. Jesus. I mean, it's not the norm. But it happens enough that it's really annoying. They need to space out the spawn points better or something.

Saw this video posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE73nAaYcwk#t=0

I wonder if this is the issue you have. What the guy says in the video makes sense for all the problems i have with the game.

Oh okay. Well then. This is interesting.

Started playing multiplayer today. I have devoted 6+ days in playtime into each CoD since 4, so I am a big fan. I'm sorry to say, this game is terrible.

The maps are horrible, you can't see shit, and when you do see someone, it's way too late because of lag. There are way too many buildings and high ground, so much camping and sniping going on, it's ridiculous. With that said, there is more gunplay, which is good.

UAV/Sat Com has been gimped beyond recognition due to the fact the default perk of off the grid makes you invisible to it - who will EVER turn that off? I love that it can be stacked and three gets you a blackbird-type UAV, but again, it's a pointless killstreak since everyone is immune to it.

The squad points system is only to reward hardcore players - if you don't play a lot, you are fucked and are fucked for at least the first 20 hours of MP. Since I game with people I work with, who don't play as much as I do, this is a gigantic turn off for them.

Overall, my first impressions are not great. I really think Infinity Ward is a disaster, I am eagerly awaiting Treyarch's next entry for the time being.

It's getting comical how often people accuse me of cheating and tell everyone to report me for wallhack. It has nothing to do with them running around making a shit load of noise, it must be hacks. I just demolished this lobby and this kid was freaking out at me, calling me a wallhacker, telling me I'd be banned soon. New CoD, same whiners.

THUD THUD THUD.

Just stumbled into a hacked game of domination. Now that soldier is top rank and no matter what soldier I use, I earn a squad point for every kill. So my game is ruined. Thanks Infinity Ward.

I haven't found too much difference between the MR28 and MK14. So I roll with the MK14 since thats been my slap in like every COD game.

MR28 -> IA2 -> MK14

Lowest to highest range, highest to lowest accuracy

SVU is kind of a special case. It fires slow, but it kills in 2 shots at any range, even silenced. A specialist sniper of a sort.

I disagree completely with the "Ghosts blows, worst call of duty yet" sentiment.

I think this game is easily better than MW3 and Blops2, I was right there with everyone initially, hating the maps - but after a days worth of playtime i think they just require a longer learning curve than most COD maps. Nearly all of them have slowly grown on me, and i find myself enjoying two or three of these as much as any maps in the series.

If you are hating the maps, do yourself a favor and just give it a bit more time, they will come to you and you'll learn patterns and pathing and you'll stop getting shot in the back / from random locations before you know it.

Honestly, I'm having a total blast with this game in multiplayer. I'm pretty terrible right now, but I'm having a ball. Maybe one reason I'm enjoying the game so much is because this is the first CoD game I've played since World at War. Also, the game seems to have an active community on the PS4, which is what I'm playing it on.

Most people who hate the maps hate them even though they know them well. I can tell you every good spot in siege for sniping, camping, or hiding in infected but that map is pure garbage.

What's the highest online players you guys have seen on PS4 version of Ghosts?

I think 40,000ish

But its not really a fair comparison yet because:

1) PS4 just released (obviously)
2) Its not out yet in other parts of the world (slightly less obvious)

That global population map that call of duty always has in the lobbies only lights up for areas of the USA, funny to see it like that

Well, Siege and Chasm are the only two i legitimately dislike, so i can't disagree with you on that one

Not the biggest fan of Octane either

So I haven't played Ghosts on 360, have been waiting to get the next gen version. But the things I'm reading are making me reconsider if this should be a day one buy for me?

I loved Cod4 the most, Mw2 and Mw3 were also very good. Would ghost be enjoyable? Is search and destroy in the next gen versions? (Read that it wasn't on 360 and that bummed me out, favorite game mode)

Basically, should I stick with Bf4 which I'm thoroughly enjoying, or move to ghost for next gen?

There's something really off about MP.. and I'm not sure what it is.

It's not big enough to where I can point to a bunch of things and say, yeah, they messed up here here and here, but there's definitely something wrong.

It just doesn't feel like COD... the maps, I'm not a fan of. Hoping DLC changes that. It's so heavily tilted against people who want to set up shop and camp or "monitor a section of the map that the entire game delves into much more run and gun style.

Spawns are not that bad (at least what I've run into...), spawn killing has been in the franchise since MW2 maybe earlier. This game doesn't seem any worse or better. Spawns usually get tuned after a month of collecting all the game data.

The upgrading of weapons just seems so convoluted. Instead of unlocking attachments you have to spend SP, which slows down everything to a crawl (and it takes ages to hit max level cap compared to MW2 which took a week of solid play). What's worse, is that if you spend SP on one of your squad members, that means you still have to pay to unlock the same thing on the other member.

At first I really welcomed the change, everything is "unlocked", you just have to buy them instead of grinding for a week to get a certain weapon. In practice, I preferred the other way. Grinding a weapon unlocks it's weapon attachments.

There's definitely a few things it does a hell of a lot better, one of which are your character seems like they're soaked in butter sliding through the entire map never stopping (maybe unintentionally making the game quicker and the spawns more messed up). So the sliding and jumping over cover feels good.

The weapons sound amazing and have a strong punch to them. The perk system is really nice and works well. Dual render scopes is a pretty awesome feature to have.

Not at all, i don't even notice it and im a complete and total OCD douchebag when it comes to performance
That's weird, considering there's others in this very thread that say it causes deaths here and there. Quite the disparity amongst players.

So I went in and played some MW3 matches and then back into Ghosts. I feel like you have much more of a fighting chance in MW3 and in Ghosts you die way too fast + the shit spawns. I think if they could patch some slightly higher health into Ghosts and fix those spawns, it would be better. Just kind of feels like Ghosts is always on Hardcore mode(as others have said before).

Its quite weird, it just kind of feels like MW3 is more balanced in terms of the gunfighting. Hoping that IWs first round of patches makes things better.

MK14 -> IA2 -------------> MR28

Highest to lowest damage.

I'm gonna check out the IA2 tonight. I use a silencer so I think i'm going to have to stick with MK14 for damage.

I just got stabbed 7 times in a single match of domination, some guy was running around with some kind of armor and stabbing everyone. I just dont understand how i do decently well in all other COD games and just getting thrashed in this one. Nothing about it is making sense to me, its just BS death after BS death.

Maniac.

Man, I ran into a guy that already had 17 days clocked in MP. Even if it's a shared account between a group of friends to level up faster, how the hell is that even possible?

lol true. don't call it camping. More like, this is your "zone," which you "cover" and kill anyone that comes in.

Yeah, "monitor" is acceptable. ;)
Camping itself is actually pretty damn good in this game. You just have to do it as a team.

? You talking about PS4 version? Because the game's been out for a long time. Me and my buddies already have way more than that on 360 version.

Whoops, typo. I meant 17 days. PS3 if that matters.

And now people can get under the map on Freight. That didn't take long :(

Just saw a guy spend the whole match under there for a KEM strike.

I was getting WORKED last night. Matchmaking was all jacked up and taking forever, and we kept running into two sets of clans that were destroying us.

not even the PC version does have real servers?

i still dont get, why there isnt a huge shitstorm about this.

It does. I don't know why people keep saying this. MAYBE if you live far from all the servers it does P2P, but I've never seen a host migration and I've got over 3 days playtime.

It's not that I don't believe some areas are P2P, but I haven't seen it on PC even once.

I think people are saying this because of all the lag. Well, nobody is playing on PC. 20,000 concurrent players at peak time is really REALLY low for a twitch shooter where 1-6 bullets kill. AND keep in mind it's not one playlist that gets 20,000 people in one condensed location, this is spread over ~20 playlists, including Extinction and Squads, throughout the world, some of which might just be sitting at the Main Menu.

Relevant to this: "Finding the best experience" in the lobby means choosing the correct server, not choosing the best client for hosting a P2P match.

It would behoove Activision to give PC players unranked personal servers again and fix the technical issues, but I won't hold my breath. They did this to themselves.

Played a bit on the PS4 over the weekend. I didn't have high hopes based on all the talk on the net about how bad it is but surprisingly had a lot of fun. Took a little bit to adjust the play style but I do think it looks pretty good at 1080p. I haven't had a chance to mess around with squads or perks yet as I just wanted to get a taste of the MP.

By the way, I built this Ghost Perk Calculator on my site. Kind of a work in progress as I'd like to add in more stuff if I can find the time but it helps if you want to see what configurations you can do based on the point system.

Let me know if you run into any issues or see any problems. Thanks!

Is there something wrong with sniper rifles? I never use them, but I wanted to get the wookie suit and I'm missing shots that are 110% on the target.
