I too wonder how timed-ultras will work in W mode. Especially Rose's U2. They could reduce the damage on the orbs, but damage really isn't their point so you'd think W mode would be good for her. But if they cut down the time orbs stay out there, that'll actually give player a reason to pick U2 exclusively.
With Juri the less ultra meter you start with then the less time you get. W mode would presumably restrict this.

literally there was one thing i was looking forward to for hugo, and that was hammer frenzy as an ultra. maybe you get clap or lariat fadc ultra, maybe you don't, but certainly you at least get some differentiation between hugo and the other characters

can u2 at least be comboable so hugo can do wall throw to u2 or somethno i don't even know why i asked that is certainly not happening

i have no idea what role he plays in this game

I'm so worried about timer scam with Elena. Just imagine being up in life, but losing cause she got that ultra off at the last second a half-screen away.

I'm not so concerned; there's a timer scam now with the ultra animation (always was there) if you have a life lead. If you are behind on life, it's not really a timer scam; Elena is still exposed while the timer runs down if the healing is to have an effect.

Key word, "half-screen away". If you time it right, you could get some healing in before the time over, and do it at a distance that most characters need a second to dash up. It wouldn't work on Dhalsim, Seth or Makoto, but that the fuck is T. Hawk gonna do about it?

you're totally right, and i get that they can cheaply import a character from sfxt so they might as well do it, but why spend that effort only to make him a sucky copy of existing characters?

Because Capcom. :( I hope Combofiend and the rest of Capcom is taking some notes, I want Hugo to be good.

I mean, it's just a new parameter to take into account when playing against her, I really don't see the big deal there.
It's not like she's going to try and win every round this way. And it's not like you can't do something about it for 99% of said round.

Watching those videos dimmed my enthusiasm for Ultra again.

Still hate the direction that the SFxTK characters take the art, and the S&M stuff with Poison is offputting.

Probably not, only supers have 0f properties (Gief, Akuma), but of course that's not a hard and fast rule.

I assume you knew this of course from the "heh"

but no, i hope poison u2 is instant! and that's def possible. gief, hakan, hawk, and now usf4 honda all have instant grab ultras. hugo's could be too, and i haven't heard confirmation yet but i heard boxer's grab ultra may be instant in usf4 as well. so it's possible!
 
I wonder what is going to happen to Hugo as time passes. I thought Hawk was so slow and easy when playing Bison or Sim. Now he is a gigantic jumping mixup jerk that I am legitimately scared of. Same goes with Hakan.

Will Vega ever become ST-fabulous again? Let his normal wall dive attack be faster, two hits (lol focus attacks), and give him much better recovery at the end. :3

- Can now FADC his DP, but only on the first hit, whether it connects or is blocked.

- Ultra 2 is now a double half-circle back motion.

- His Forward Medium Kick now has 11f startup, instead of 13f.

- His Crouching Heavy Kick is now 8f startup instead of 9f, and has 20f recovery instead of 24f.

- His Focus Attack has longer range.

- Heavy Shoryuken now has different/more(?) invincibility frames, apparently changed from being 9~10f to 6~7f.

- Light Demon Slash now does 110 damage (down from 120), and 130 stun (down from 150).

- Heavy Demon Slash is now -6f on block, instead of -8f.

- EX Demon Slash is now -8f on block, instead of -10f.

- Medium Demon Palm is now -4f on block, instead of -6f, but its first invincibility frame has been removed.

- Electric Fireball (all versions) now have 2 frames less recovery.

- Ultra 1 now does 375 damage when not cinematic (up from 350), and now has 9f startup instead of 11f.

I think they actually may have.

Frequently, when some sort of news breaks or leaks via GAF or a GAF insider and Eventhubs posts it as coming from an "anonymous source." So either they literally believe and post anything that comes across their mailbox, or they have a thing where they don't like sourcing GAF.

Whatever, fuck Eventhubs anyways. I used to champion the site and now they've gone and made their site as user-unfriendly as could possibly be.

- Ultra 1 is 5f start up now, and can be used as an autocorrect. It also does 450 damage and has 15 frames of invincibility.

- His hurtbox on wakeup has been reduced.

- Crouching LP is now +5 on hit.

- Crouching MK has had both its hitbox and hurtbox increased.

- His Super seems to have a larger hitbox downward, so as to not whiff on crouching opponents.

- His air grab reaches farther than before.

- Flash Kicks have received one additional invincible frame.

- Ultra 2 does 350 damage.

- Reverse Spin Kick now has a larger downward hitbox, making it likely that it'll hit crouching opponents.


All buffs. I am pretty happy.

Means do ex hayate instead.

IIRC IA ex axe kick works without having to jump cancel but it's really hard.

Thoughts on Zangief from the USF4 Loke Test. st.mp was nerfed. SPD range nerfed. EX Banishing start-up from 13f to 16f making it not connect from normals. That's pretty rough. How shall I make use of LP Banishing being -2 and EX banishing knocking down (attacking from above will be difficult).

He mentions another property of LP Banishing Flat changing but I don't know what this is referring to. I'll look it up and update after.

Most characters didn't seem to have their basic play style changed on first impression but it feels like Gief was changed under the radar. With LP Banishing being -2, if the opponent mashes out a fast throw, only Ultra 1 will beat it.. This probably only really create a negative situation for him. -1F probably would've been better.

With the addition of delayed wake-up, defensive options have really gone up on all fronts. I think the defensive characters might take center stage this time. Because attacking from the air can be dealt with using delayed wake up, attacking from the side (ground) might be a better candidate this time around. Thinking about it like that, grapplers might be quite handy

Getting a chance to play Hugo today, I'm feeling quite fond of him and pretty satisfied. I'm looking forward to the release and my motivation is pretty high

General changes to slash for Oni are appreciated. Nothing huge but nice.

Surprised they didn't lower damage/chip on his DP.
