It really was. Well-shot by Tim Van Patten. Harrow was great, but it did feel like about time for him.Beautiful ending though.

.Well that was god damn depressing

It hurts that it ended this way, but given his line of work I think it's a fitting end. They could have had him make and end it with him and his family...god dammit
That's a proper fucking finale.
S5 is already in the works, but I can't imagine they'll go too far beyond that. Winter has an ending point in mind, and six seasons might be about it for the show provided it gets renewed next year.how many seasons are there supposed to be?
What year is it now and when did prohibition end?S5 is already in the works, but I can't imagine they'll go too far beyond that. Winter has an ending point in mind, and six seasons might be about it for the show provided it gets renewed next year.
Frank Capone died in April 1924, so we're a little past that. Prohibition didn't end until 1933, iirc. What year is it now and when did prohibition end?
Excellent connection. Well done. That last ending bit was a wonderful homage to An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge.
Doyle still alive!
http://www.marcusgarvey.com/pages/video-galleryI gotta admit it was over my head. I forgot who garvey is.
I'm almost certain the he is a fictional character, and going to be one of the last people standing. Doyle's avoidance of death feels like an inside joke among the producers of the show... all things considered.Doyle still alive!
The way I see it, they didn't have too many directions to go with his character at that point. He either settles down with that family, which while it would've been a nice ending for the character, it wouldn't have made for good television necessarily and he'd probably exit the show anyway. Or he could have embraced the assassin thing and kill more people, which at this point wouldn't be that interesting either. So I think the ending they went with was pretty fitting. Bittersweet - he accomplished his main objective of saving Tommy, but he doesn't get to have a completely happy ending after all the terrible stuff he's done. Really sad that he had to kill that girl though, probably destroyed any will to live he had left. That last ending bit was a wonderful homage to An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge.

I'm sad to see him go, but now that I think about it they probably didn't want to keep Richard around as the all around badass. It was a good way to go out on. I'll miss him.
Yeah RIP MaybelleThat was incredible! I had to pause the episode during the big club onyx scene, I was in shock. Once again Tim Van Patten proves he is a great director. RIP to one of my favorite TV characters ever.

Yeah I can't really say I'm a fan of his acting. Sometimes he nails the creepy thing really well. But it seems like outside of that his acting can be pretty mediocre. Regardless the character's dead now so I guess it doesn't really matter. While I enjoyed Knox through most of the season, I didn't really feel like the actor handled the emotive peaks near the end very well.
Every parent's nightmare -- seeing your child die in front of you. I don't need Boardwalk Empire to come up with nightmares for me, frankly, but that one was especially vivid.Fantastic finale. But Maybelle's eyes still moving about after the shot is going to stick with me. Ugh.
