I can't wait!! I got the Zelda XL bundle from my wifey boo for our anniversary and I'm counting the seconds until I get to tear into it!
You must have an amazing wife.

Anyway, I just finished my second dungeon, & this is only Day 1. At least I'm enjoying every second of it.

I'll start panicking if my

Just beat it in Hero Mode. 100%'d it again. In the final boss, I only got hit by those annoying
flame things
. It did become more challenging, just wish the dungeons were remixed.
Dont you need the strongest gloves for the ice palace? and the sand rod for the desert?
No.

Just finished the game. Loved every moment of it! I was hyped for it but it was even better than I imagined. The 60 fps was amazing. Definitely one of my favorite Zelda games.

Finished this morning with a clear time of 16:16. Only collected 60 of the octopus babies but got the rest of the gear so I'll call that mission accomplished. Link's Awakening still holds its place as my favourite Zelda game buy this comes in a close second.

I feel so lonely being the only one who doesn't think this is a great Zelda at all. :-(.

Are people really that happy with a super easy and very short Zelda game? Like, really OVER the moon? Did the standards drop that low?

This Zelda has the bestest music EVER!!! 11/10! :(

Not that easy for me.....

This is a bit OT, but I was wondering about the Zelda Oracle games which one are you supposed to play first?

Either. They're both great. I did Seasons > Ages and it felt pretty good to me.

Am I supposed to catch that thief or just buy the smooth gem back?

Difficulty and quality aren't necessarily linked.

Of course, it'd probably be best to have Hero Mode available from the start from now on.

There is at least one other person who doesn't like ALBW -- BassForever, I think his/her name is. For me, this is the first Zelda since Majora's Mask where I've had to really think to figure out certain things. I also feel like I'm actually exploring, uncovering secrets left and right. It saved this series for me. :)

I think it is very good but not great. Also, it is about as long as ALTTP... You have to understand that this type of game is much faster paced than the 3D games, so I think it's length is appropriate. As for the difficulty, I feel it is in line with the difficulty of most modern Zelda games... The series has not been known for it's difficulty in decades.

To everyone saying they 100%'ed the game, did you clear all the StreetPass challenges and get the Cucco reward (?) for 999 seconds?

If not, let's say you 99%'ed it. :p

I love this speed and precision. They took LTTP and made it arcadey.

I view this game as the Master Quest LTTP should have had 20 years ago. A very enjoyable remix of the classic.

Rupees everywhere! Rupees for everybody!

I have never been this rich in a Zelda game.

There has also been some serious inflation since 1992.

The game is ALOT prettier than website images would suggest.

Ok so im in this room in the swamp dungeon and im stuck. The door locked behind me, and I can't reach the water level valve or anything. I've literally been wandering around this tiny room for an hour trying to figure out what im missing.

The brown spot on the left wall can be hookshotted too and then you can merge on to that wall immediately.

I shot people I like more for less.
Thank you. Good to know there isn't a certain order.

If you want a little more input, Seasons has more fighting, and Ages has more puzzles. Ages is generally considered more difficult than Seasons, partially due to the differences in the main conceits. Seasons has a rod that changes the Seasons for an area, so most of the time it's just swapping weather until you can progress past an obstacle that's blocking you. Ages involves traveling between the present and the past and getting stuff done that way. While it doesn't really matter which one you play first, when you finish one, you get a password to input into the other game, which gets you access to certain stronger items eventually, and you also start with an extra heart and the sword if I remember right, so it can make the second game a little easier for you I guess. Granted, I haven't played either in like...10 years or whatever, so perhaps I'm remembering incorrectly :)

Game is great. I'm really glad Nintendo is just letting this game "be" without the heavy hand holding that have plagued their games in the past generation, especially in Wind Waker. Really refreshing and hope they keep this up. Also, not having a flying fairy telling you stuff every 5 seconds is pretty great too!

I'm doing that but
I just keep slamming against the wall. Am I not pressing A fast enough or something?

edit - nvm, got it literally my first try after posting this. thank you!

Working on it! About to finish on Hero Mode with everything else (including
the Super Net
), then it's Cucco city from now until I realize it's probably impossible. :p (The StreetPass thing is kinda impossible for me right now since I'm in Japan and the game isn't out here until Dec. 26.)

I finally put some more time into this... I'm absolutely terrified of dying and losing all my rentals, so now I've been carefully grinding rupees until I can buy everything and get rid of that fear. :\

Link should stick onto the wall for a half second or so. Merge when he is stuck.

The standard 'indoors' song thats an import from OOT is so fucking jarring. I'm enjoying all this early 90s nostalgia and then all of a sudden I receive the most generic song from OOT through my headphones. The only blemish on a perfect soundtrack.

Also was pissed that the LTTP item sound didn't make the cut.

You got it, but I may as well say you do indeed have to press A faster.

No prob.

I got everything in Hero Mode, so all that is left are those 2 things you've mentioned.

StreetPass challenges is kind of a problem since I've mostly been staying at home and studying the past few weeks and seem to forget to bring my 3DS when I go to classes lol. I don't think I will really focus on that.

Now the Cucco Endless thing is what I want to do. I've gotten to 382 seconds so far as my record. I should try more often though.

Whaaaa?? So there are still 40 babies out there crying for their mummy and you're just giving up on them? HOW DARE YOU! ;_;

So how do you get the second slot?

I am in hero mode, already beat the game, already got the master sword, have bought two items, have learned how to quick equip, and the fucking Ravio still has me with only one slot for my items!

What in the hell?

Serves them right for hiding under bushes and clinging onto walls. If they were all just lying on the ground they'd all be safe by now.

Just started playing the game and I am almost an hour in. The music is amazing and the graphics are so smooth and gorgeous! I can't believe people were saying that this is an ugly game. I did notice a typo though lol. One of the kids says "Then he starting chatting away"

I finished it today at 18 hours played with 18 hearts and all the upgrades. It's probably my favorite handheld Zelda, but it's a bit easier than the others.

Woah you beat the whole game without the second slot for items ? I didn't know you could avoid it !

Anyway, at the beginning of the game, when you're in Hyrule, right after the first dungeon (the one where you fight against Yuga and gain the wall merging power), go in the middle parts of the "regular" woods (not the lost ones). It's near your house and the guy with the flower bomb in his garden

You'll meet the blacksmith wife, which tells you she's looking for her son. Go up (one screen above where she tells you this) and you'll find the pouch, which is the second slot (for X button)
.

The game isn't super easy. I found the challenge level to be at a good level. The dungeons and puzzles weren't difficult but not complete pushovers. The game has much better pacing, but in terms of dungeons and general challenge TP and SS are better. I'm interested to see what they do with the Wii U game.

Even Skyward Sword let you make decisions about how to progress in the 3rd act. Then you got NSMBU where you can chose between level and worlds.

Oh shit, I need to get that!

I love how this game will just leave major stuff like this for the player to just stumble upon.

The game gets much easier once you get the armor, weapon, item upgrades and extra bottles which are all missable. Heck, even the item pouch is missed by people. Before that you do take a ton of damage and deal not as much.

There's a message from Aonuma in the Prime Guide Box Set.

It has been 25 years since The Legend of Zelda was introduced to the world, and it is still going strong. This was made possible by the fans who love the series. In the next installment, it is my desire to create a unique experience that is beyond your expectations. We are privileged to have your unwavering support. - Eiji Aonuma

I pre-ordered this package from overseas (non-UK EU country) and it said 2-5 work days. They sent it the tuesday before launch, and it arrived the following monday ;_;

I was willing to take the risk, so that's that. However the A0 poster was missing and I emailed them, got a response two days later that says "I can confirm we have sent it, you should be receiving it soon" still nothing. Add me to the list of "fuck GAME"

I remember there was an interview a while back that never got posted where Aonuma was saying that in the next installment he wanted to create a Hyrule nobody had imagined before.

"There are no limitations on what kind of place Hyrule can be, other than that it is a country where Zelda exists as its Princess. We now have many titles in the series, so we are seeing characters and location names from previous titles coming up again. We are using these when it adds to the fun, but there is no rule that we have to use these at all. We may even need to change things you might take for granted like Zelda being a Princess. I would really like the next Hyrule to be a setting no one has ever imagined before."

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20..._be_a_setting_no_one_has_ever_imagined_before

So what we can gather about Zelda U:
  • It will do non-linear stuff in a way similar to ALBW
  • It might have some kind of multiplayer component or messaging system ala Tingle Bottles
  • Wind Waker HD using sea charts like a GPS map is having an influence on Zelda U
  • Hyrule will be very different from in the past.

Just finished this.

Was that the best Zelda since OOT?

It was certainly the one I had the most fun playing. I couldn't put it down. "Just one more dungeon..."

It certainly had the most responsive controls. (60 fps ftw, just a pleasure to play)

It certainly had the best soundtrack. (dat post-Master Sword Hyrule theme)

It was certainly the least annoying. The absence of handholding and the necessity of making decisions was wonderful. Only a lack of item slots grated (2 ain't enough).

If this design sensibility made its way into Zelda U I'd be really happy.

My favorite things about Zelda games have always been exploring the worlds and discovering secrets, as well as fighting the random monsters around. The dungeons interested me only to an extent so I don't mind them being shorter and easier. It's actually nice to be able to get them out of the way so quickly so I can have a new item to explore more areas with.

Also, I much prefer short games now. I'd prefer a Zelda game around eight to ten hours, in all honesty. But one taking me a little over fifteen hours is no big deal.
