Phew, managed to escape that Knight with the bow in Anor Londo, Bonfire finally! But wait, did Solaire just flirt it with me?

I can't take this.

Team Fortress 2, along with all of the Half-Life 2 games, just updated for me. They're probably prepping for the HL3 ARG.

Wait. Can i play dark souls only in offline mode with games for windows live down? Couldnt log into super street fighter and dark souls.

Shouldn't be a problem to use it offline. Obviously won't have the online features but providing you have GFWL client installed and your profile the key is linked to downloaded it will start in offline mode. Reinstalling to a new PC will sadly be a no no in the current state (at least the Steam downloaded copy) as I found out last night when I didn't have an internet connection. Worked fine when I redownloaded my profile from the GFWL servers but once they go down you'll be stuck with your current installations unless you try some creative registry edits (might be a workaround in the future). Saying that I do have a retail copy but I'm pretty sure during the setup it calls out to GFWL as part of the install and fails if it doesn't get a response. I'll investigate and get back if any info.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.
It's a trap.
My cunning isn't high enough.

In other news, the new Broken Sword is great! But I recommend waiting till the second part releases. It ends when things are, quite literally, heating up.
* It's clearly a Broken Sword game.
* Great atmosphere that slowly starts to get more creepy the further you progress into the plot.
* Fun, logical puzzles. On the easy side, though.
* Intriguing story that starts out as a simple murder mystery, but slowly develops into a conspiracy which in it's turn evolves into something even more sinister.
* Great characters and brilliant voice acting. A couple of nice returning faces as well.
* ...it's Broken Sword alright, so unfortunately it's got some bugs, too. But nothing as serious as the infamous Syria/Spain bug. George's volume went up five points a couple of times and there was this one time where I looked at an object and George commented about something that wouldn't happen until five second later. The worst bug is an instant crash around 43%, when you talk with an old woman (to avoid spoilers) the game crashes at the moment you can ask her stuff. The fix? Switch the U.I from Modern to Classic. They're planning to fix it in a patch next week.
* Visually, it looks better then expected. The 2D art is great, although it could use a higher resolution, and the 3D characters are decent most of the time. So, not always.
* Dialogue's are fantastic, some really well written stuff. George's dry humor is still intact.
* The game is really linear. I didn't mind and I don't know how it could, but I know some of you might.
* Trevor is awesome.

Took me around eight hours. As said before, I recommend it, but patience is key.

Is La Mulana the type of game I can pop in and play for 30 minutes, or will I need to invest a good few hours each time I play it?

I can't decide between starting that or The Witcher 2.

I want a game test key too :(

edited: I got stuck in Lunnye Devitsy, can move in circle only, I mean down in the water, up on the ledge down to the water at other side. Too funny, and only one key (A) seems to work in this game. I suppose it's not all what's to this game, is it?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Only have one more exam and then I can continue on with my Final Fantasy VIII playthrough!

Lucky! I'm thinking about quitting my job so that I have more time for gaming. My wife isn't too keen on the idea though for some reason.

I can't decide between starting that or The Witcher 2.

I would say La Mulana is pretty good for the short burst gaming session. Find a new piece of gear, save and quit. Beat a boss, save and quit.

I will say though that the game does not mess around and it's really frustrating in how vague it is. Witcher 2 on the other hand is just totally engrossing with it's story and eventually (after chapter 1 or so) it's gameplay.

when you get started on the game the puzzles are kinda easy to solve so it's manageable to do some progress in half an hour, once you get past the first half though you'll need to keep track of what you've done before so it requires a bit of investement
if the 30min sessions are spaced out it will be very hard to make progress in a reasonable amount of time

doesn't matter that much though because puzzles get so hard that most people just follow a guide

I once did that, quit my job and played Civ2 for about 3 months, it was glorious at start and horrible later on, horrible, believe me!
How can you live with yourself when you are bored by playing Civ2?! The only way to punish yourself is getting back to work :(
Only half kidding, was without a job for 3 months long long ago

Looks fun, and maybe I am just too spoiled by Indie bundles, but this is the type of game I think I would wait to get from a bundle

It's published by Adult Swim, a company which hasn't participated in any bundle offerings thus far.

Hmmm only missing Blood of the Werewolf and Slender. Might buy.

Having skipped the last time the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games went onsale because the bundle was taken off steam... (OCD in me, just wanted to buy the bundle, knowing it was there before)
...I'm glad to find out today that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. bundle is back! and hopefully will be discounted attractively during the Holiday sale.

Arkham City wouldn't count for this though right, as its only a title update? Because I would sure vote for that game.

No since it was released on 7 Sep 2012, (Early Access games count AND games re-released on Steam - example: FFVIII or Sir, you are being hunted.)

Updates don't really count as 'new versions' the only exception so far is DOTA2 since it was previously a beta and now a full fledged game.

Volgarr basically pricematched Tiny Barbarian. Dick move or well played?

Coincidence, probably. Surely Steam's standard deals (Dailies, Weeklies, Midweek and Weekend) are sorted in advance, presumably to the order of weeks.
