How is X1 the fastest selling Console (PS4 being the Top Selling) if it only took 24hours for PS4 to break over 1million, where X1 took 9 days was it? what am I missing, or what angle am I not looking at this from. Seriously.

You need to learn about averages and PR spin.

Pretty much.

Why isnt Zelda U on this list?

Also, I refuse to believe anyone on Earth said a Megaman cameo would save a whole platform.

No one said most of that stuff. The PS3 chalkboard was real. Most (all?) of the things on it were touted as difference-makers by posters that I recall. The Wii U chalkboard is made up as a rebuttal to the real PS3 chalkboard. Don't worry too much about the accuracy of it. (Edit: It was Pristine_Condition who made the GIF version, and he did post it later.) NPD threads were made for GIFs! :D

"The Nintendo lineup of home systems have sold over 659.03 million hardware units since the launch of the NES."

This is gut-bustingly heartbreaking.

I certainly wish NPD would be more detailed in the software breakdown, but Nintendo's gotta put on an hour and a half Wii U blowout direct if they want to change things around for Christmas.

So all those people hoping that consoles were losing popularity and the market is going to crash were wrong eh? Just Nintendo that can't make a compelling home console, this NPD is great news for the industry. Congrats MS and Sony.

No.

Man, critical thinking is a rare commodity amongst videogame armchair analysts huh?

Hint: Think of all the factors leading up to this launch. One of which was the length of the generation. Think of the timing of the launch (holidays, black Friday etc)

Now, it doesn't mean the chicken littles were right either, but you can't call a long shot until things settle to the typically quite times of the year.

So if XB1 was fastest selling on average (PR spin)

Then with 16 days of PS4 sales and the highest sales per day being 101,000 or thereabouts

PS4 November sales must be less than 1616K which doesn't say much I suppose

That fastest number being built around days on sale is kind of cheesy.

Why wouldn't fastest be a metric used to determine how fast (time) it took to sell out initial shipments?

Fellow gaffers,
This is what is happening with regards to MS saying XBO was the fastest selling console in november: If you average 900k across 9 days (from the 22th of nov until the end of nov), you'll get an average of 100k per day, right? In comparison, averaging the amount of PS4 sold in november (lets say it was 1.2 M) requires more days because it was released earlier. So from the 15th of november until the end = 15 days. 1,200,000 / 15 = 800k.
Hope it helps ;)

NPD only tracks U.S numbers right? Why is Major tweeting November NPD then saying NA region?

NPD tracks Canada as well, so I'm sure MS is privy to that information. We just don't get those numbers, these threads are just US NPD.

Hmm, just noticed the "best November hardware ever" bit.

I have November 2008 at around 5.45M (if others have other numbers please add or correct).

So far we have XB1, 3DS and 360 at a combined 2.32M.

So the remaining hardware has to make up at least 3.1M or so?

Maybe the Wii U did okay? (Okay as in 300K and not terribad 150K)

Nintendo's announcement:

"We are glad to announce that the Wii U is the fastest and best-selling console with the letter "U" in it's name, during the month of November."

If PS4 isn't the top selling platform...
and 360 isn't the top selling platform...
and 3DS isn't the top selling platform...

what is the top selling platform?

There's a small possibility the 3DS numbers don't include the 2DS.

in that case, 3DS + 2DS might have beaten sony for the month.

Gotta say, for a console that:

1) Was apparently $100 too expensive

2) Has yield issues that will affect hardware production

3) Has a camera no one wants

4) Has a broken OS

The One seems to have sold pretty well.

Just cause Mario isn't in the top 10 doesn't mean it did poorly, nor is it indicative of the Wii U totally tanking...
I hope...

Let's wait for creamsugar to save us. I'm thinking the Wii U might've posted respectable numbers - relative to expectations, of course.

Take that, Ouya... and Saturn... and... uh... Jaguar.

If GAF goes down I'll know it's because the Wii U sold 2 mill.

I find it funny that there are no exclusives in the top ten.

Well those sales are all cumulative over all the different platforms so even if e.g. Killzone sells more than Battlefield 4 on PS4 it wouldn't show up because BF4 sales are added from all the 5 platforms.
