Walmart Topeka KS.

40 Ps4s only putting 12 up for sale. They won't put them in the case because they don't want people rushing in asking for them.

At least 2 xones. Both out in the display case. Guess no fear of mobs lol. Not sure if they have any in the back. Both are day one editions if anyone wants that black box.

Portugal here. Got mine yesterday, the guy at the store said they got just enough to satisfy the pre-orders, none for walk ins, and they probably won't get another shipment till next year.

All this tells me is that Microsoft's retail strategy is a lot smarter than Sony's. As a result of smart planning and concentrating on tier one countries like North America, they actually have the supply to meet the demand and are therefore in a very enviable position. I wouldn't be surprised to see them sweep December's NPDs. Sony is learning a tough lesson about what good is having a more powerful, cheaper system if you don't have enough of them to sell and they're really starting off this generation on a bad foot.

Ps4 seems to be sold out everywhere in the UK. Only place I can find is a really expensive rroughly £550 bundle at GAME that comes with a few games, 2 blu-rays and 12 months of ps plus.

Xbox one seems to be in stock in quite a few stores online.

Yeah. Interestingly, Amazon has a definite date of Xbone replenishment (Jan 8), whereas there is no future date at all on their PS4 listing.

And hilariously, I typed in Xbone into the Amazon search bar purely by accident and it still came up with the correct listing. I'm sure Microsoft are loving that nickname.

My local Wal-mart had 30 here in iowa. Asked at bestbuy and target both said they would have some, but no details when I asked yesterday.

Best Buy has Xbox's on their website as of 9am central time this morning.

My store has 62 Xbox's in-stock which we will be selling this morning. No PS4's at any of our Best Buy's in the district. I'm being told next Sunday as we have about 77 on order.

Yep Sony shot themselves in the foot, should have ignored the UAE and Asia because no-one cares about those places, there's a reason why global saturation became a meme on Neogaf.

I am looking to order a xbone from amazon but would like it before Christmas.
I would rather buy it from amazon because of their CS, I hate dealing with anywhere else due to their shitty service should anything go wrong within the first year.
I have had to many excuses from retailers before trying to convince me it's not their reason to exchange but to go through the manufacturer.

I feel bad for people that are searching for a PS4 to buy. It looks like a lot of people are going to be waiting until after Christmas. These early morning line ups have got to suck.

Yeah, this was the first console launch I ordered off Amazon. My PS4 adventure was leaving work, stopping by and getting some lunch, then coming home to it sitting on my doorstep.

Sure beats hanging out at Circuit City literally all day to get a 360, or freezing outside of a Target to get a Wii. I am over that nonsense.

UAE ps4s sold out across the country here. The launch was big. Sony projected massive blue holograms and projections on our offices. We had to approve their marketing campaign at work which was pretty funny.

The UAE is a growing sector and MS didn't do a good job. We still don't have a release date here for it.

Because you know, it couldn't POSSIBLY be that there is more demand for the pS4, right???

My city's Gigantti got 5 PS4 + Killzone bundles last friday of which 4 were pre-ordered and the last one was pretty much sold immediately it hit the shelves. Apparently their next batch is coming in during week 8 or 9...

I think it's too early to tell. Having a worldwide strategy where you have more markets to sell your product is not necessary a bad idea.

Yeah. Let's just ignore that the rest of the world exists like M$ loves to do. What were those Sony morons thinking when deciding on global launch?

M$ strategy might keep the boat afloat in the NA, but it surely cost them the rest of the world. A pyrrhic victory at best.
With the rest of the world going after PS4 the NA will surely follow sooner or later. So it would seem that M$ is getting spanked here...

My store hasn't opened yet but we have 110 Xbox One with 130 more on the way and district wise we have 1730. (I rounded numbers down) PS4 is sitting at 1260. Good luck to everyone out there looking for their consoles.

Actually I'm not sure if we have PS4 for sale this weekend. It doesn't say we have them in store. This might be for next week. At least the PS4. We do have the Xbox One though. With a lot more on the way.

Sitting in my car at Target. No one in line and store opens in less than an hour. I imagine there are lines at Best Buy and maybe even Walmart due to advertised supply (I haven't checked), but Target hasn't advertised the PS4. I wasn't sure if Target would have any PS4s, but I'm not gonna wait in whatever line is at Best Buy for another 3 hours. Saw an employee arriving for work 10 min ago. I asked if she knew if they had PS4s this morning. She had no idea but said I could ask the manager when he came to let her in. The manager said he "believes" they do. It wasn't a definitive answer, but then I asked, "So if I wait til opening I should be able to get one?" And he said yes. Good enough for me. Even if they don't have any, I need to buy other necessities anyway. I'll continue to sit in my car until shortly before opening as long as no line starts to form. I've seen a few cars slowly drive by, checking out the entrance. It could be for any reason of course, but I wonder if any of them are looking for PS4s and assuming no line meant this Target doesn't have any this morning. There were/are a ton of cars in the parking lot when I got here, but with no one in line, they're obviously employees unloading/prepping a huge shipment of merchandise, which made me more hopeful they'd also gotten PS4s in.

In case people are wondering why I'm getting another PS4, I posted in the troubleshooting thread that my PS4 developed the constantly ejecting disc and beeping fault just the day after I had a chance to get one during the Amazon restock. Of course I wasn't expecting my PS4 to break so I didn't bother buying when I had the chance. Just unlucky timing. I could/will send it in to Sony if I don't get one today, but I'd rather get an instant replacement and return mine instead of waiting for a turnaround if I can.

Sounds like you work for Best Buy. Our district has about 800 (rounding) Xbox One's in the district available this morning while expect about 600 PS4's for the district next sunday

Agreed.

None in any of the Best Buys in Chicago. Next week the store on Clark will get 30 plus. They open at 7 am. Why am I helping you get a PS4 before me!?!

Anyway, I doubt Gamestops will have them.

This is balls!

I'm trying to get another PS4 for my household and holy crap is this annoying. Spending all fucking morning waiting for retailers to open up so I can buy a product I should have been able to buy anytime this week. I understand their legally obligated to hold SOME stock for Sunday, but don't hold all of it for fucks sakes.

Seriously such a stupid thing to do. Oh but I understand why, aside from the legal aspect. Gotta create that false-hype and demand. Need to make it seem like "WOW THEIR SO MUCH DEMAND FOR THE PS4, EVERYONE WANTS ONE I SHOULD GET MINE NOW!". Of course your stock sells out in minutes when you make your buyers all wait for one specific day to get their product, and of course there's more demand than supply when Sony can't send out a decent amount of stock to you.

So annoying.

For giggles, I asked around this morning. The Best Buy I checked in on this morning never received any. Same story in the 44th St-Midtown Manhattan store. They're both talking about the next Sunday, which is the last chance for a lot of people scouring the land for these boxes. Pre-dawn lines and everything. So I'm giving a lump of coal this year.

Sunday is the biggest sales day, primarily because of the whole no work thing for most.

But I agree. Maybe they'll let us buy some beforehand?

HAHAHAH NOPE.

Who cares about selling 2M+ in the rest of the world!?! We have that December NPD to think about against XBONE in one territory!!

The irony is even with your logic I don't see MS outselling Sony in December. But it sure sounds like a nice fantasy I guess.

Okay 5 more minutes and there are only 10 people in line. All but one are getting PS4s and one was initially getting an Xbone but was unsure. She said the kids want a game system but didn't know if they wanted a PS4 or Xbone, but she figured she'd get them an Xbone because there would be more variety of games instead of just COD because of Kinect. Then she asked me what system was supposed to be better. I was diplomatic and told her it really depends on what games the kids want to play. If they like Kinect, obviously that's only on Xbone. But there's also games that are only on PS4. They never had a PS3 nor 360, so there's no history to take into account. I told her if she can pull it off, I'd just get both right now and return whatever they didn't want. Because it sucks opening up the system you didn't want especially if she has a chance to get both.

It's awful for consumers. I actually tried yesterday at BestBuy "Hey, I know you guys have PS4s in stock, I know you're holding them till Sunday, can you sell me one?"

"No, sorry sir we can't sell them until the release date."

"The PS4 came out a month ago."

"The release date for us to sell these is December 15th."

Ugh. You have it in stock, sell it. Save some for Sunday, but if you have it in stock, and a consumer asks, don't fucking lie to them and say "Oh, we don't have any!"

I'm not trolling. :( Just expressing my anger for this dumb practice being used for the PS4 stock. Only thing you can consider "trolling" is maybe me saying Sony can't send decent stock. I'm not sure what their stock numbers, just doesn't seem to hold up nicely to demand.

PS4 is NOT on Wii's level on demand. Give it 2 more months and the supply will catch up. But as of now, Sony isn't doing as good as a job as I hoped. :(

This way of thinking is why the rest of the world don't respect USA... you think only your country exist? Geez...

This strategy will cost a lot to Microsoft worldwide. A LOT.

Europe, Asia, Africa and America will be clearly Sonyland this gen, specially if that Q3 2014 launch is confirmed...

Man dat hype train. Even when people fail to get one, they just keep trying. Im getting flashbacks to PS2 era launch.

And thing is about the One, nobody really knows if people are buying it or not. It could be sitting on shelves with no buyers or stores just have so much stock they are able to replenish the shelf from stock room after what sells in the case. So many variables going on here.

Time will tell the story eventually.

Sony is supplying the world. They are supplying more than 40 countries as of this week, including Asia. They are not trying to create false hype.

You don't know that it's not on Wii's level of demand.

Really don't think MS has a choice. Need to win America to please those investors. Doesn't look good when your product can't win home games. Peoples stop attending.

Is "empty boxes" going to be the next form of damage control? Never heard that one before.

Well....

my best buy had 6 Xbox one boxes
But...
they were all EMPTY boxes [and I did ask about empty boxes]
they did not have any stock on hand
never assume

and this

some need not assume the boxes they see have content in them
I was picking up a tablet as a Christmas present and saw about 6 Xbox's on display
at best buy

they were all EMPTY.. just for display only [ I did ask]

so if you see a box there, do not assume they are there for anything but looks

Is just an example of retelling a a riveting tale. Of course this won't be repeated in sales thread over and over now.

It's odd. Like, only four of us were at BB this morning, but nobody wanted a One.

Yet BB got a bunch of those in today.

I'm going to go back and return this, so I'll see if they sold those.

Yeah, they didn´t had a choice because they never planned a 2013 launch, as I said back on march. But even considering this, the distance between PS4 and Xbox One will be shorter that PS3 and X360 on USA... that IF Microsoft can keep the distance (I think Sony will cover the supply worldwide by march). But they lost England... and that will hurt

It's not so much a choice on the supply side as it is on the demand side. They don't need to send units to Spain. Kind of a harsh reality. The UK and the US need units and most of the EU I would venture to guess does not.

Obviously they do not have the option to send 500k to Asia.

I think the complete opposite - having stock sitting on shelves in just a few launch markets just doesnt seem that smart compared to selling every one you make pretty much as soon as they are shipped to retailers irrespective of the market its sold in...

Ultimately MS will do better in US, but at what cost? Everywhere else, including new markets, are going to see Sony products first months ahead of what MS can provide.

Its hard to say which of the two is producing them more quickly, but having stock sitting on shelves just seems counter intuitive on MSs behalf when there are far more markets for them to target - they really seemed to be worried about losing 'majority share' in the US...

Display boxes have been at Best Buy since before launch. Same as PS4.

No carrying handle = no console inside

P.S. PS4 is sold out everywhere I've been since 8:30. Last Walmart I checked sold 40.
