The cables are removed in that picture right?
Yes, for some reason
Edit - maybe the psu vents upward too?

Ive always pronounced it "Ace us" for some reason instead of A-soose or ah-soose whatever it is. Its the same why I still call Ryu "rye yoo" instead of "ree yooh"And then he has the nerve to pronounce Asus wrong!
I am outraged.
I would like to buy that case.
What's under the gpu
I'd really want to have that case thank you please give it to me.
Pretty sure that's just part of the big plastic shroud that directs the airflow.
This video actually makes me feel better about the controller. Now I really want to play with one. It looks like I can control my game exactly how I do with my Magic Trackpad on my MacBook. (As I've said, I cannot use a mouse in a FPS game as a lefty that has always used a righty mouse but needs to control movement with my left hand, I cannot use a mouse in my left hand nor can I control movement with my right. My MBP's MT however works wonders for me.)There's a video here with a more experienced user showing how it can control fairly similarly to a mouse and how it offers better precision over using thumb sticks.

Now I'm very excited to use one even on my computer.
Ugh, those shitty blower cards are gonna be all but ubiquitous because of this.
This always sold it to me, along with Tommy Refenes being happy playing Super Meat Boy and Spelunky properly. Could do with seeing sensitivity setting and more strategy or even fighting games
Valve said they've being doing some experiments for fighting games.
There are definitely games that, although playable, arent good enough for the existing players to spend much time playing them with this controller, Coomer explained. There arent very many games like that on Steam, though. So when we say weve managed to accommodate the whole catalog, there are some places where, at the highest level, thats not complete, because of things like Dota. But the entire catalog, we still think we can call it playable. There just arent that many in that category. Hope said Valve has also been doing a lot of experiments regarding fighting games and will have more to reveal soon.
I'm one of those people who have been waiting for something like this, as I don't really trust my (decent but very limited) grasp of building a gaming PC-- as in, I've been waiting for nearly a decade for something like this to happen. I'm primarily a console gamer, but in hindsight only really because they're more convenient-- buy, plug in, play. And Nintendo.
I feel like my patience will pay off, but I'm still waiting to see the actual retail models, their power, and if they're worth getting over a custom built machine. If they're not by some chance then I'll finally take the dip and just test the murky waters, but I really hope these end up being a great solution for someone like myself.
The controller is kind of ugly, but if it works very well, so be it, and I'm sure it will get more visual revisions before hitting shelves. I have so many games on Steam that I've just bought simply because of the prices and for when the time comes that I'll actually own a powerful enough machine to play them on, and that time seems to be nigh!
no it was
but you know, Valve time :lol

pretty sure the X360 controller should work out of the box
also should have looked up the control bindings better, tab is probably trackpad click
And with modern PC components you don't need "shit loads of fans" unless you are heavily overclocking.
I really, really hate the obnoxious light on the front but the box looks really well designed inside. I'm looking forward to seeing some proper benchmarks as that is the one thing that would make me use Steam OS on a regular basis, even if I don't buy a Steam Machine.
After seeing all these videos I want it so badly especially with my huge library of games even though a fraction of them will run in Linux. I suppose nothing would stop someone from installing Windows.
Man, he really has to learn the controls before he posts his videos. Like take two seconds to see what each button does.
Also adjust the sensitivity settings.

With the poor image quality you get from streaming a game to a Vita or Nvidia Shield... Nah.If it's your TV box, you can always stream from a primary Win machine. That's my game; gonna have my main comp, with the a cheaper steam OS box to get my library to the tv.
I have been going back and forth the past few months whether I should stream from my beefy PC upstairs to my TV downstairs or get a dedicated machine like Alienware. I was thinking about something like Nvidia Shield to stream , but all of these Steambox threads now has me second guessing. I love the whole concept behind the OS and this machine from the taredowns seems upgradable, which is awesome. If it's your TV box, you can always stream from a primary Win machine. Now that is an awesome idea.It can have up to two HDDs connected so I guess you could have another one with windows on it.
