January US Playstation+ games leaked (Don't Starve, Bioshock Infinite, DmC, Brothers)

I dare say I wonder if some titles aren't hitting PS+ too soon, but maybe it drives subscriptions higher and Sony can pay out more.

Brothers has been on my list, but the last half of the year was packed. I've still got a lot to play.

Don't Starve sounds really neat. I'm hoping to grab a PS4 around February or so.

I don't think I care about DmC, but maybe I'll try it since I've never experienced the franchise at all.

I'm not a big Bioshock fan but WHAT?
Brothers isn't that like.. only a few months old? Bioshock isn't that old and heralded by many and DmC - well I love it but I do understand a lot of people hated onit

That PS3 list seems nuts to me for 1 month, makes no sense?

Game sales (especially $60 AAA retail games) are notoriously incredibly frontloaded, especially sales at full price. I would argue that after the first 3-6 months, the vast majority of sales that a title will get are going be sales coming from discounting the game through digital distro (Steam, PSN, etc.) or at a major retail store. So at "worst", they're losing a somewhere in the low tens of thousands of sales of discounted copies, and that might even be offset by the increased amount of people you can sell the full priced DLC to (like Bioshock: Burial at Sea).

I think May/June at the earliest before they offer retail games.

doubt it. ps+ has only been offering big games recently. it never had triple a games on ps+ when it first came out, and there's already 75+ million ps3 in the wild, plus the next gen has already started, so it's way easier to get retail games on ps+.

ps4 retail games? really doubtful. maybe in a year or so. ac4 will be free after ac5 comes out.

I disagree. The budget for PS+ must have seen a huge spike in the last years(especially with ps4 but that's just an assumption) so I think the money to fund launch games that had pedestrian sales (Injustice for example) should be there. But I guess we'll see. There is nothing wrong with some Indies for now.

How would some of you guys/gals feel if PS+ eventually went Gaikai? Instead of filling your HDD, you play the games PS+ offers though the cloud. I think that's where it's headed.

Not cool, that's what I think. I prefer to download once, play for as long as I am subscribed.

Bioshock : Infinite comes really early like a free game on PS+. Came out in August, next month is free game. I presume that in March will be a first BIG AAA free games on PS+ for PS4 ( Driveclub not counting ).

I don't see the difference between streaming the game and having it installed on your HDD. The only difference would be you wouldn't lose any HDD space, and you would still own the game indefinitely, or at least until you stopped paying for PS+.

Streaming is going to have lag which would make games like Resogun, fighting games and certain racing games useless for the service.

the ps+ money will go to infrastructure more than free games deals.

but now that indie games have come into the equation, it's more than likely that ps+ will feature more indie games than retail games (not that there's anything wrong with that), or the featured retail games will probably either 1) games that sold so much they don't care if they are being given away for free in less than a year or 2) games that didn't sell that much and could use the money.

Looking forward to don't starve. First game I will play on my ps4 in weeks. What a bad launch..

a bad launch because killzone, knack, resogun, contrast, nba 2k14, bf4, ac4, cod ghosts, madden, warframe, fifa14, lego marvel super heroes, nfs rivals, dc universe online, blacklight, super motherload, trine 2, and divekick don't suit your taste?

seriously, dude. just because you don't care for the games does not make the launch bad.

PS+ straight fucking crushing it. Finally, I will play a Bioshock game this gen. Finally, I will try the new DmC (provided this is legit, natch).

Been waiting for the right price for DmC - so free is perfect!
Will love to replay BioShock Infinite for them trophies!!
I'll give Brothers a shot, but in the demo I didn't care for the control scheme.

I'm not so sure about that. When I tried Gaikai just after we found out Sony had bought them, I played a demo of The Witcher with a 3mb set up and it ran very smoothly on my laptop.

You're much less likely to notice input lag in a game like The Witcher than those games that I mentioned. People notice input lag in MvC3 on the PS3 which made the 360 version more desirable

The PS3 only lags behind by 1 frame, but that's still a big deal. There's no way Gaikai is going to run perfectly for every single person that uses it, and that's something that will happen if you have a downloaded version. It'll run as the developers intended it to run so it's going to be preferable over a streaming solution.

do people seriously not just add everything tp the cart that's free and purchase them? people are saying I'll get this, this, and this. they are free people, just add them all and be done with it

I don't add games that I'm not going to play and have no interest in playing. Like I won't bother adding don't starve next month.

I also just bought Brothers in the Xbox sale. Oh well.

Nice to see Bioshock on there. Haven't played DmC but the discussion of it on the Giant Bomb GOTY podcasts (Best Surprise category) made me want to try it.

Seems like Sony is trying to show value and broad appeal for the program to people who may have just received a PS3 for Xmas.

Sucks about the Vita games, though. Surely there's something else afoot there?

Thought about buying Bioshock Infinite... glad I waited. Very good month for +. The only game I own is Smart As.

Great way to start the Vita new year. :/

Oh well. The PS3 ones are awesome anyway.

Why not try it anyway? It's free and you may like it once you've tried it. You're limiting yourself on something that will expand your gaming choices.

Yeah, while it's pretty young relative to other AAA games that have hit PS+ it's still unlikely to sell any more copies that aren't either used or drastically discounted at this point. And this creates more DLC customers, of course.

Pretty much any game that came out before September or October is "done" in terms of sales at any price point above $20-30, so the smart publishers will start putting them on PS+ and/or doing deep discounts.

The Vita games are shit. just give us psp/ps1 games pls.

Yeah, amazing PS3 games, shit Vita games. I'm not too disappointed, since I can't think of a Vita game that I want to play that isn't either too young for plus or something I already own.

And I'm not sure why they aren't already doing PS1 classics on plus. We've gotten some PSP games, but no PS1 games.

PS+ will go Gaikai but for the PS3 game side of things, I don't see the PS4 stuff getting there for a while, or if ever. What they need to do is add trophies for the gaikai ps1/ps2 games, that would be sweet

I don't disagree for the most part but doesn't mean it won't happen - these prices and deals are simply unsustainable.
A dominant PS4 would bring in massive amounts of PS Plus revenue which would make it easily sustainable. Sony is clearly positioning PS Plus as a major reason to own their hardware.

Damn, I hope I am able to use my ps4 again by the end of Lanuary. I feel like I've been waiting to try Don't starve for a long time.

I'm the same way. I only add games that I know I will play to completion.

I get wanting to play a game to completion, but I think one of the great benefits of PS+ is that it allows you to play games you might not have given the chance because of your perception of it, but end up really enjoying once you dig into it. Three examples of this for me this past year have been Vanquish, Spec Ops: The Line, and Dragon's Dogma. Nothing about those games really stood out to me-- Vanquish in particular seemed like something that would just endlessly frustrate-- but I added them to my account anyway when they became available on PS+ (didn't download them initially though). I ended up enjoying the shit out of Vanquish, really liked the Heart Of Darkness vibe of Spec Ops, and am currently freebasing the crack that is Dragon's Dogma. I would have never had those experiences if I approached PS+ offerings with the same level of scrutiny that I use when I'm buying a game.

Disappointed in the PS4 choice, but I'll play it nonetheless.

Are you surprised though? Of all the people in this thread I would have thought you would have known that this was coming esp. given that Sony has been putting it out there for well over a month now that Don't Starve was going to kick off PS+ on January 7th (for PS4).

It's not like there's a lot to choose from...

February's will be better with Outlast and Drive Club can't be too far out either...

Don't know about Outlast (though that would be great), but there is also Secret Ponchos to wonder about since that was also put out there as a launch window PS+ freebie. Either way we ought to see them both by March if they are still on schedule.

Likely been mentioned already but Don't Starve is CONFIRMED for PS+ on the PS4. During an interview I had with the Contrast devs, they told me Don't Starve would be taking their place in the program on the 7th of January. Resogun will remain free for the month of January.

and here I was looking through the PSN store earlier this week and seeing Don't Starve being added to PS4 section with a trailer and release date in which I was 100% on board to purchase day 1...

I remember reading posts on other forums around a month ago discussing the possibility that PS+ offerings would potentially start getting less impressive... This month is pretty amazing and puts any of those concerns to rest...

If anything, the offers will get more impressive because they want to convince all the new PS4 owners to sign up, and they have more cash flow to work with from all the new subscribers.

Haha, I just bought DmC and Brothers for PC a day ago. :(

I bought DmC shortly before it was announced for Europe but don't feel bad, you'll get 60fps and 1080p as a nice compensation. Also you can use a better controller than the DS3 (I know, debatable).

Sweeeeet. DmC!

I just bought Infinite on Steam like a month ago though. lol
Oh well, I'm more likely to finish it on console anyway, can't complain about free.
