Wii U Games 2013

i just have concern that any console version of metroid would instantly be 3d. the ds had a 2d mario from nintendo after 14 years and the 3ds had a traditional isometric zelda from nintendo for the first time in 20 years. there's less expectation.

I agree, and the reason it would most likely be 3D is that its 2013, and games should be in 3D now. Of course I realize my opinion is a minority one at this point.

I am in love with 3dw, but also lego marvel seems fine!
and I've got also batman. can't wait to try it out!
I was ready to download AC3 at 9€ but the eshop wasn't.. :p
with that I'll get a second discount code, so I'll pay rayman just 10€!

Origins. I've found a good deal, 35€ shipped. I've already played City, on Wiiu because I missed it back in the days and I found a great deal for that, shortly after the release

I'll post impressions later!

And if I've never played an Arkham game (outside of demos)?

If you've never played any of them, then think about the Batman games as action games with great combat. Both games off free roaming around the city with a lot of extra things to get into (side missions, collectables, etc.). I had a lot of fun with both games as they can either be played as stealth games or straight-up action games.

So... is Origins any good?

Vermillion Rayman Origins is amazing!! The GOTY when it came out. A seriously incredible game, significantly better than Legends, and not to be miss--ohhhhh, Batman: Origins...I see...ah...no idea, sorry, haven't played it. I'd listen to Aostia, though, he has good taste!

This isn't true at all. The level design in Legends is far better.

It is absolutely true. (As true as either of our opposing opinions can be, Colonel.) Although the level design in Legends is more open, the game itself is easy to beat and master. The remade Origins levels are much easier to master than their original counterparts. The Challenges are an excellent addition to the game but there is not enough variety to them to sustain ongoing interest (I am proud of my one Diamond cup though). Also,
the final world is bogus. It is based on cheap gimmicks. The final levels in Origins were based on skill and learning the level. The final levels in Legends are not based on these things in the same way.
I still think Legends is a good, solid game, just not GOTY material like Origins was.

Well I've certainly broken the bank on purchases over the month including Boxing Day.

Right now I'm having lots of fun in 3D World, just now got to the 5th world.

As for games bought, oh boy, most have been on Wii U. :)

BD alone got me:

Wii U:

Splinter Cell Blacklist $5
Ninja Gaiden 3 RE $20
Mario & Sonic Sochi (standalone) $30
Wii Party U $30
Batman Arkham Origins $30
Super Mario 3D World $35 (just bought a copy a couple weeks prior for $50 which this copy will be refunded at)

3DS:

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon $15
Mario & Luigi Dream Team $15 (bought this almost a month ago for $25 which this is being refunded at)

Black Friday deals:

3DS:

Fire Emblem Awakening $25
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D $20
Shin Megami Tensei 4 $30

That should be it...

Great haul! Are you sure those stores are going to give you more back for the games than you paid for them?

The games were from other stores and obviously the ones I'm refunding are still sealed. :)

Example, both of the cheaper copes were from Superstore while the first M&L were from Toys R us and the first 3D World was at Best Buy, also if I recall, if they were from the same location I could just bring back the receipt to get the difference, they do so also if you have proof of the competitor doing the drop, however the latter would be difficult being Boxing Week.

It's common to do this. :)

woah bro where'd you get Splinter Cell Blacklist and NG3 for those prices?

I think SC:B had an error which had it priced at 4:8x at BB/FS so that's one. Too fucking bad it was sold out. You're lucky for jumping on that -_-

How about NG3?

You're in Canada right? Best Buy (should still) has Blacklist for $5 and EBGames has NG3 at $20. :)

Fake edit: Yep!

Price matched Blacklist at Walmart and bought NG3 right at EB.

I was originally under the impression that Arkham Origins Wii U was a good version. Now it seems it's buggy. Just how buggy is it? Things that have been patched?

Same with Splinter Cell. Was it's issues ever patched? If so I'm hoping I can find it at a lower price since I doubt there is an online community still.

man where do you get all these fantastic prices?

man where do you get all these fantastic prices?

Let me try to group them:

All Boxing Week deals in Canada and should still be active:

Wii U:

Splinter Cell Blacklist $5 Best Buy
Ninja Gaiden 3 RE $20 EB Games
Mario & Sonic Sochi (standalone) $30 Best Buy
Wii Party U $30 Best Buy
Batman Arkham Origins $30 Best Buy
Super Mario 3D World $35 (just bought a copy a couple weeks prior for $50 which this copy will be refunded at) Target

3DS:

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon $15 Target
Mario & Luigi Dream Team $15 (bought this almost a month ago for $25 which this is being refunded at) Target

Price Matching is possible at Walmart and The Real Canadian Superstore (this store is often together with Loblaws), but for Superstore, BRING THE FLYER, Target's flyer has Super Mario 3D World, Mario & Luigi, and Luigi's Mansion in it, as well as Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros 2, all aforementioned 3DS games here are $15 and as mentioned 3D World is $35. Walmart does websites as well, but Superstore requires the flyer.

I'm going crazy haha. I'm actually thinking to buy multiplats on the WiiU now..

Splinter Cell and Batman... Argh.

That's not such a bad idea. The biggest concern is that the third party publishers might drop the WiiU versions alltogether in the nearest future.

KingSnake

The Birthday Skeleton
How is Sonic Transformed better?
hmm. how about Batman and Splinter Cell?

Splinter Cell has big loading times and the framerate drops in the cutscenes but has no screen tearing like X360 version and better resolution than PS3. Also the gamepad use is nicely done with weapons and modes available at a touch.

Forgive me as I seem to have missed something, but...what's with the gold-bordered "recommended" games on the Plaza?

By default, the Plaza shows tiles of the most active games/apps. That's why it was flooded with stuff like Youtube and chat communities like Smash Bros. The "recommended" tiles give Nintendo the opportunity to highlight games without having to stick to that standard (one of mine is Pikmin 3 which stopped "trending" long ago). A good idea that I didn't notice until you pointed it out -- The Plaza had become so stale and predictable that I had stopped looking at it. I do hope they highlight some eShop games, new releases, or at least non-1st party stuff in the future.

Ah so the recommended ones are just titles Nintendo has chosen to bring to the Plaza and highlight? I thought the reason Pikmin 3 was there again was because a lot of people got it for Christmas? If this is indeed the case, they could have chosen some more obscure titles :/

Rumour: a French games journalist from the Gameblog website tweeted today from Japan, where he currently is, about an unannounced 2014 Wii U third party exclusive he's aware of:

He seems pretty excited.

After the Minecraft reveal... I'm not expecting anything worth hyping for Wii U. Let alone a high quality game.

really? I usually see a decent amount of third party titles on mine.

They're usually stay on the plaza a week or two after release. Beyond that.. they disappear to never come back. I saw games like Injustice, Splinter Cell and Batman Origins ONCE amd I use my Wii U almost every day.
I assume it changes in every region tho.

Right now I have:
Nintendoland
Pikmin 3
Super Mario 3D World
Wii Fit U
Sonic Lost World
Smash Bros Community
Wii Sports Club
Wind Waker HD
New Super Luigi U
Art Academy Sketchpad

Only 1 game out of 10 is not developed by Nintendo.
great relationship with third parties my ass lol
