Because console gamers will pay it.

Wow, TLOU is so good that even someone of the glorious master race of PC gaming has accepted it.

Tomb Raider should have an upgrade option at the very least.

Buying it for ps4. Haven't played it yet and it's certainly cheaper right now to play this game in basically the highest Pc settings on my ps4. Plus it's apparently a good game.

Although only a handful of features support it, voice control on PS4 works perfectly as intended.
Yeah, voice commands on PS4 have been working very nicely. I'm happy that devs are willing to support the feature on both consoles.

Holy hell, what is this? Why? Default Lara looked amazing, what's the point of this other than being able to say "we upped the poly count on Lara x 1000" or something?

They probably want to match the face for Tomb Raider 2.

I'm not getting the new look either. She looks more toonish in the definitive version to me.

New Lara looks fine and it's very likely this model is the one we'll see in TR2 so it was inevitable anyway.

Game looks great, will gladly pay $60 for it :).

For anyone who doesn't want to, well the original version can be had for very cheap, just play that.

Original New Lara failed as a woman by letting her eyebrows grow fairly natural looking. She's been replaced by New New Lara, who understands the importance of precise threading.

Am i the only one seeing an older Ellie (TLOU) in the right pic? Left is more a woman. Right 17 year old teenager.
I'm not seeing that at all. The right is closer to a woman I might actually see in the real world as opposed to the left.

But it was okay to pay premium price for Wind Waker HD.
Double standards are cute.

One is an amazing game that originally came out in 2003 and wasn't in HD and no one wants to play a 480p game upscaled to 1080p, the other is an okay game that came out in 2013 that was already in HD and is on sale right now for like $12.99 including all the DLC.

And in both instances you could easily just play the original for less money. It's no different since both games were redone extensively(based on this interview).

Please don't buy this. We need to stop encouraging developers to go with this route of design-by-committee, me too, uninspired game design.

People would jump all over a GTA V Definitive Edition for $60 for Xbone/PS4. I wonder if the problem here isn't the price tag or the improvements but the game itself.

Good point, and that includes me. GTA V is such a big game and one that I think everyone would love too see running on better hardware. I sold off my copy solely because I want to experience it on PS4 and think we'll see it at some point.
I don't think TR was ever a game where people were clamoring for a next gen port. On top of that it's not a very long game. I enjoyed my time with it immensely, but will not spend the money to go through it again.

So when I read the bits about the effort put into making the game use the touch pad and kinect I immediately thought back to debs saying "it won't be on Wii or Wii U because, gosh darn it, we just can't think of something unique to do with the remote or touch screen."

Other than that this seems like a very Square- Enix thing to do, focus heavily on bumping up the already good visuals and little else while still selling it for a premium. At the very least when this comes out I should be able to get the 360 version for cheap if I every want to try it.

I've been waiting to try this for over a year, but I get the feeling this will be a PS+ game eventually. I can wait.

Face one seems more adult looking. She's attractive in both models but I do prefer the 1st. But the new model has more polygons?

As much as I loved the reboot, I see nothing about this "definitive edition" worth more than either a cheap digital upgrade or a $20 disk purchase at best. I really don't get why they keep trying to sell it to existing owners as something worth a second full-price purchase.

I'd be far more open to it if they were adding new parts of the island to explore, or new weapons and tools, or maybe adding more tombs or something. Yet even with that I wouldn't pay $60.

The subsurface scattering makes her look redder, yay!

not seeing any noticeable improvements from the increased poly count. Like I'm sure someone will chime in and point out something but it's probably not something they'd notice if they weren't staring at a still frame and definitely not a $60 improvement lol.

This is like a standard magazine shoot photoshop job: They made her eyes bigger, nose smaller, and made her lips more luscious.

But I gotta admit, the only reason why I'm complaining is because there is an original to compare it to, and I find the original one more attractive.

I enjoyed the 360 immensely, but I am not going to play through the exact same game again, with the exact same set pieces and story, no matter how purdy they make it look, and especially not at a $60 price tag.

They should allow you go bring in your current gen version and get the enhanced next gen version for $10.

I purchased the game for $4.99 on the most recent amazon sale. It was superb! I'll for sure double dip on this one on the ps4. I'd say my price point will be $20. Also, I'm surprised that the price on the original dropped quicker than an assassins creed game.

Still looks horrible. They added more jaw to it on the second picture. Prefer the first one looks more natural.

Left pic looks loke she is on drugs, which is probably because they didn't get the eyes right.

Besides that the differences are small and in no way justify the thousands of quotes of which most say they totally broke it.

One was a remake of a 10 year old game. Another is a re-release of a game that won't even be a year old by the time the re-release comes out.

Are you for real?

This wording confuses me. CD have seemingly remade far more content than Nintendo did.

All they did was change the lighting engine, right?

All you CAGs...lol.

Makes sense to release it at $60, if even just for a week. A good number or people, who have and haven't played it are looking for another reference game for their next gen consoles.

Fear not CAG. The last gen game dropped to $30 very quickly. This one is likely to as well.

This is a good thing. As its how pricing to demand and to move supply should work. Those that can't wait pay a premium to get it first. Meanwhile us that can wait get better deals for our patience.

Its better than sticky pricing IMO. I remember when games never got much discounted in their first year.

Small? I played the game and the difference is huge seeing those pictures. It just looks horrible it just does.

'We thought about a budget release, but then someone said "Hey! Why not charge full price for people to pay for our teams Next Gen Port Practice™?!" And we thought heck, lets go with that!'

looking at the list of companies doing this, why the fuck aren't they doing a Sleeping Dogs Definite Edition instead?

SD at least has dlc.

Just make it run 60fps and have pc assets (+ some additional touchups on some textures) and all those dlcs.

$60 is a tragedy, but thankfully, I won't be getting my PS4 until Second Son comes out, so it has a good 2 months to drop to $30 or less.
