The whole situation is pathetic. I've always bought Battlefield but I really regret buying this. They knew what they were doing releasing the game in the state it was and now it bites them in the ass. Won't buy another BF game I wish I could get my money back on this one.

On the PS4 the game for me has been pretty stable as of the December 17th patch. Despite some rubber banding in Hainan and Lancang Dam, the game has been more than playable.

Can't believe Polygon is going in but, I'm so glad they are. The "we are aware of the issues and are working on them" from DICE is such bull. They most likely have BEEN aware of them before launch and still decided to release the game. I mean, I paid $120 bucks and the shit still runs like garbage.

DICE may not have had as much choice in the matter as you'd like to believe.

Again, I look forward to all the gory details coming out in a Polygon/Verge expose. I can see the headline now. "Inside DICE, EA, and the Battlefield 4 disaster. The inside story."

EA doesn't care and they will do it again.

Not SimCity? That game was literally unplayable due to the always on DRM and other social elements.

It will be whatever big comes along, hopefully something good.

Mario kart 8, smash bros.

Makes me happy that because of a strange loophole refund I ended up getting premium for free, biggest issue on xbox one is joining your first game, after that it's smooth sailing. Like everyone's been saying great when it works, not so great when it doesn't work.

For all the criticism they have received, rightfully so for the console versions it seems and the launch, the pc version seems to be stable now. It hasn't crashed on me in a good while. The launch was terrible though, as I was crashing every 2 games and sometimes multiple times within the same match. I have confidence that DICE will get the game back on track, but I don't doubt that EA pushed them to release a game that was known to be incomplete. Wonder if those lawsuits have any merit, as they could open a can of worms. A sort of lemon test would have to be established for evaluating games that have launched incomplete and buggy. Was there harm done to consumers? No one's hard drive was wiped due to installing the game, the game didn't have a bug that completely destroyed the computer in any way. I think a lot of the outrage at the launch is that Battlefield 4 is a fun multiplayer game, and not being able to play it properly angered those who paid $60 - $100 for the game. They just wanted the game fixed in order to enjoy the game. The single player is a pain to get through, so people don't want to have to play through it a second time after their save game gets wiped. The game is not unplayable for most people, however it is frustrating.

Sadly, that's not going to happen. All they have to do is produce a single game people want to play that actually works and this transgression will be water under the bridge.

All they have to do is stick dinosaurs in a BF4 DLC pack and they'll be swimming in money.

Game issues that were supposedly patched by EA-DICE weeks ago that STILL REMAIN:

1. Audio dropping out at the start of large games.
2. Corrupt Single-Player campaign save files.
3. Sudden crashes between games to the dashboard/desktop.
4. Battlelog and/or Player Profiles (My Soldier) randomly inaccessible.
5. Terrible dedicated "Official Server" lag
6. Unreliable server browser results

I could go on, but I'd rather play more AC4.

With CoD losing traction, and BF going to shit, what are we supposed to be playing for hundreds of hours in the future?

Yeah, it is pretty funny how both big FPS franchises screwed up this year. CoD being just mediocre and BF4 having bug problems.

It is too bad no one else was around to steal their thunder. I guess AC4 benefitted a bit but it is not the same genre. Same with GTA V. Perhaps Ubi can swoop in with a good Tom Clancy shooter and steal marketshare.

Is the game on PS4 still broken? I just got a PS4 and am thinking of getting it.

MP seems to be working just fine for the last few weeks. SP save corrupption seems to still be an issue though, but can be circumvented with backing up saves to USB.

I don't feel sorry for anyone who bought this game. It's EA, people. What were you guys expecting?

Stop giving them your money and you might see some change.

3 and 5 I haven't gotten for weeks.
1 is on the same level as texture load in at the start of a game.
4 I havent noticed, but rarely use those features.

Issues I still get:

- Audio dropouts in the beginning of each match
- Massive, random rubber banding lag spikes
- During some matchmaking I seem to get stuck in a loading screen loop

No more crashes though.

Between this and the opening that EA is leaving for some other game to come in and take over the close combat multiplayer fps market due to Titanfall exclusivity, EA is just throwing away chances to dominate the biggest section of the games market left and right.

If some game does manage to steal the multi-console spotlight from Titanfall (remember, a PS4 Titanfall would be more than 2 years away from now leaving plenty of room for someone else to swoop in), I would think stockholders would be furious. At that point you have to fire everybody in a top level position. And I do mean everybody.

We can already see that as predicted the PS4 is far and away the better selling console. And now after all these years of bolting on useless multiplayer modes onto every game they could they finally have their COD killer. Only it wont be on the #1 console until March of 2016 at the earliest. That's just straight up incompetence.

People are reporting their SP saves are still getting corrupted. This has been going on since launch.

After the last "patch" I did a marathon session to finish the SP game.

After I did, I never touched it again for fear of it getting botched again.

I'd like to find all the unlockables and stuff in each mission, but I don't want to risk losing access to all the missions with a corrupt save file. So, for now, I just play the buggy MP.

Its much more stable on PS4 and PC, but, apparently, the Xbox One version is still running into crashing issues.

I don't know that I would call PC 'stable'. PS4 has been working pretty flawlessly, but PC is downright horrible. I'm lucky if I can even connect to 20% of servers anymore, and the game still crashes a lot. In some ways, the PC version is worse now than it was a month ago, if you can believe that.

The game has been running perfectly fine for me on PC, but on consoles I can only imagine it is still a shitshow. They really should have just focused on releasing on the new consoles rather than both old and new generations -- I feel like that is a pretty big chunk of the problem. So many platforms to support.. Can't ever end well.

That's the kicker for me. The game just doesn't run well. Still has rubber banding, lag, and other strange things going on. 64 player rooms run like shit. And it's so confusing since the Beta ran really well.

I tried to do exactly this but after 6 missions I took a 30 minute break to have some lunch. Woke the PS4 back up and my single player progress was wiped.

This was just a few days ago. If anything the problem has gotten worse.

I've only done Rush missions lately, and only after playing a few matches on a server to see how bad the lag is and adding the good ones to my favorites. I'll never use quick match again.

Titanfall isn't exclusive though - it's being produced for the PC, XB1 and X360.

I agree. Them hitching the Titanfall wagon console exclusive to Xbox is going to seriously stunt the growth of that series. Even on PC it's going to be hindered by being Origin exclusive.

Imagine a different world where Titanfall gets a full multiconsole release and is put on Steam with the full Steamworks treatment.

Hope it's not just iOS and Dota 2

Upcoming releases wise, Titanfall and Destiny? Granted they're both online only and Titanfall is only console exclusive to 360 and X1, but they could still become the next big things.

Took me about 6 hours total, since I like to check every square inch of the maps for hidden secrets and kill every enemy I find, but I did it in one sitting.

I knew if I took a break or went online for a couple MP matches, the save file would get borked.

I restarted the campaign twice before; I REALLY did not feel like cutting off that guy's foot again to only watch him drown in the car... LOL

Just wanted to complete the campaign to the get the handful of MP unlocks.

I'd love to know how much MS is paying/has paid EA for exclusivity. Since EA is a public company, why isn't that number disclosed to shareholders?

Serves them right. I hope they get fined millions. Mine actually wish EA would go out the game altogether.

Also wasn't it EA who said the the US Gov could take a leaf out of their book in regards to internet infrastructure? I'm sure there was a thread on here about it.

What a joke.

It will be the last Battlefield game I ever buy, for as long as Dice are EAs bitches.

My PS4 version works just fine. I pop it in most days and experience 0 issues. Sucks that isn't the case all around as it it's a fun game when it functions, which for me, is 100% of the time. Granted I bought it later on, about 2ish weeks ago.

As for those wondering what will come next with CoD/BF going down the tube: Destiny. It will be the next big thing.

Not that hard to imagine Titanfall or Destiny becoming the next big thing if they are fun and actually work. No better opportunity with COD going downhill, BF kicking fans in nuts and Halo lost between them.

EA has ruined SO MANY great franchises over the years:

Battlefield
Sim City
Madden
NBA Live
Burnout
SSX
Dragon Age

They are awful. So freaking awful. They take over these IPs and destroy them with rushed shipping dates and ZERO QA.

It seriously is like the perfect storm considering how badly all of the big shooters have dropped the ball recently.

Are they the reason I haven't seen another Burnout Revenge????

Probably your computer at this point, not many people reporting crashing errors anymore.

Verify your gpu has a stable OC, update drivers, and you probably need a reformat.

Xbox One. I still crash, get booted, server browser still kind of borked, battlelog still iffy, SP still crashes.
It's better than it was, but getting booted 50%of the time when playing Operation Locker when it took me 10 to 15 minutes to get in to a good game has taken it's toll. I hardly even try to play it now. I tried twice yesterday and both times got booted mid round in Locker.

I'm a long time BF fan, but this will be the last time Dice and EA get my cash. If I buy a BF in the future it will be used from Gamestop and it will be well after launch when the bugs have been fixed. I'm not so jaded over the fact that I'm out $120 it's the fact that Dice/EA knowingly released a game that is a total and complete pile of shit.
