I've already played the game once, and I'm rebuying it mostly for the fun of it and to boost my gamerscore a bit more, since I failed to do so with the Xbox 360. If I was as invested into PSN's Trophy as I was with Gamerscore, I would definitely buy it on PS4 instead.

Also, by Voice Commands I mean more than the in-games "Fire", etc. I mean being able to just come home and switch to this whenever I get bored of Battlefield 4/Peggle 2, and be able to snap Netflix and catch up on some shows while I mindlessly replay this for the Achievements. (bolded this because this is my main reason)

Framerate is important to me, definitely more important resolution, but since I've already played this game, I care a little bit less.

You should stop caring about your achievement/trophies. They're bullshit invented to exploit people's natural instinct to hoard food and resources.

If you have eyes and are not blind, the 60fps version is the one to get, or don't get either version since you've already played the game.

It really hurts me on the inside to see a fellow human being so misguided and taken advantage of by clever companies and their evil schemes.

Please don't let them manipulate you like this. Eat the red pill.

ps: if you're wealthy, disregard everything I said and do what you want with your money.

i feel like if we keep making a big deal about the framerate differences MS will throw money at publishers to "maintain parity". Does anyone actually think they won't do that?

I find this hilarious, but I fully expect in a year games will go back to being 30 FPS most of the time while devs just use the extra horse power on the PS4 for higher quality graphics.

The variable framerate excuse is simply BS. The XB1 has a variable framerate, the PS4 is 60fps with Dips, 99% of 60fps games have dips. "locked" framerate is quite simply bullshit, there is no way to lock a minimum framerate only a maximum, so in actual terms, the PS4 is the only one that has a locked framerate in the sense that it is locked below 61fps.
There are console games with locked framerates - notably in my experience Forza 4 and Forza Horizon. Neither seemed to drop a frame. It can be done, at least to the point where a dropped frame is a complete rarity.

Variable framerate can feel shitty at times, even if the minimum is 30fps. Or it can be great. I'd rather we weren't hearing about dips, because those dips will always be downplayed pre-release.

Don't the majority of console games run at unlocked frame rates? Vsync is too expensive, no?

Most console games are capped at 30fps (meaning that the framerate will never go over that mark), but they're rarely locked at that framerate. Actual locked framerates are very rare on consoles, especially during the last generation. Nearly every game advertised as 60fps had some framerate drops. CoD for example doesn't run locked at 60fps on any console. And that goes for this generation as well.

I didn't touch this on last gen? Is the game good? Might get it.

Really plodding intro, absolute poopy narrative wise. After the intro the pacing picks up, really easy game to get into and it becomes really fun to play. But seriously, the story and characterization is out of a early 80's nature survival action movie.

Guess which one that tag does.

I don't think he's really ashamed. Console warriors go big or go home.

correct me if i'm wrong, techni-GAF, but isn't it possible to both have an UNLOCKED FRAMERATE but also have NO TEARING?

i didn't think vsync forced the game to RUN at the same rate as your monitor's refresh rate, only paced the frames to sync up with them, even if the game isn't able to maintain a locked rate... (ie: interpolation if it dips below the refresh rate, and dropped frames if it goes above)

Microsoft's gaming division actually doesn't have infinite money. And given that the PS4 is selling more consoles than the Xbox One, if it were to leak that a publisher were intentionally gimping the PS4 version of their game, there wouldn't be a Gamestop magazine rack left upright in the entire world.

I don't think Microsoft would do such a thing (it would be insulting to the professionals that develop these games) and third party publishers have to compete with first party and independent developers.

Pretty crazy. As someone that owns both systems, I'll always be buying my main third party titles on PS4.

Having played the Alpha of Titanfall, I question whether they can hit 60fps. It definitely didn't feel consistent/smooth to me. Granted it was an Alpha test. And rumor has it Titanfall is 720p. Oh boy if they can't hit a locked 60 (or at least smooth variable fps) at 720p, it will be a shitstorm.

To the guys saying that posters have said framerate is more important than resolution and are now saying framerate is not important, please quote them as I like to keep up with who is disingenuous.

I only think this is a big deal in as far that it's a regular port that shows quite a disparity in power of the two competing consoles. I don't mind framerate that much.

I think speedy blue dude is one of them I remember him bringing up cod ghosts ps4 framerate problems as more significant then the resolution difference for some other game.

Sad thing is, I still will probably buy an Xbox One, solely because I like the controller and hope Halo 5 is good. Damn my love for Halo.

Like I'm over the age now where I need the best, whether I'll notice these things. As long as Xbox One is getting Halo and gets at least some form of these multiplatforms I'll be happy. There's no way, with both having paid services I could support buying both as it is. I rarely play much.

Edit: damn, top of the page. I just can't believe how the cheaper console, is quite more powerful. If I was recommending a new console to a brand new gamer, no clue about gaming, I'd say get a PS4.

There's nothing wrong with that. Get the console you know you'll enjoy the most....then get the other one down the road when it's cheap and has an incredible backlog. :p

listen to the mad man
"A game is more immersive when it has less clarity:p"

says every person who thinks that HD images/video are too sharp/clear/real.

Right but I'm not sure how someone can say that 60fps doesn't matter, 30fps is fine, when 720p30 was already "fine". The whole point of this is that it's the upgraded, definitive edition.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Someone should tell him that having unlocked framerate is GOOD for controller response as running at or close to 60FPS practically guarantees lower input lag than running locked at 30FPS. Then again, he wouldn't probably admit that even if all the lag measurements of the world would be shoved in front of his face.

Neogaf is a very, very poor indicator for any sales, period. Since there ARE droughts of games for next-gen games, I expect DE to sell decently, especially on PS4.

I played it on 360 and I thought the game looked great and ran fine. Bought it on a Steam sale and it looked even better but I couldn't bring myself to play more than the first 30 minutes over again. Considering the current gen versions are $15 or less now, I hope no one who has that option pays 60 fucking dollars just because it's 60fps on PS4.

No. no, noooo, you've got it all wrong! Once Microsoft allow their top Tier developers to pass out their trade secrets, unlock the stacked die which holds the dGPU, get the cloud calculations going, and update their drivers, there's no way the Fogstation Fogur will be able to withstand the Xbox One's (all in one entertainment) massive 4.2 TFLOPS!

Lol. Sounds like a misterxmedia post. Back on topic, as long as there are no jarring framerate drops (doesn't seem to be based on observations) then I'm happy. I would just hate it if it was running all nicely around 60 frames and then I turn and look at a bonfire and it drops a lot.

This news makes me smile. Not because the XB1 gets the shitty framerate, but because this is probably going to mean better framerates for the multiplats I will buy.

Might be able to stave off upgrading my graphics card for longer than I thought. :D

Heh. Either way, he was never wrong. Both versions do run at 30 frames... minimum. PS4 just gets double the performance.

I'm relatively new to Neogaf but need to ask this question, are shills not auto-banned on here? Or are they just left to do their thing for the entertainment they provide? Reading some on these makes me almost feel smart.

It's good for informing posters then don't know him or his post history before they have huge arguments with him.

The backlash happened like a week or two ago. The game would have been printed before that. It would take a patch for the frame rate to be unlocked

You're right, but it'll be interesting to see if the game has a day one patch. It's also possible that the demo people played recently was already patched.

Anyway, doesn't matter how or why they did it, game has a higher frame rate on both versions now, like it should've to begin with.
