Capcom developer posted some info about the PC port of RE4.

Feature wise, the new PC version is based on the Xbox 360 version, which in turn is based on Wii/GCN versions.

Many of the texture assets have been redone (not everything, mind you) from the ground up, as you can see in the screenshot gallery on the Steam Store page. I've uploaded a handful of side-by-side comparison shots for good measure just to give everyone an idea.

The game has an option to toggle between original and HD texture pack. HD texture pack is approximately 5GB while the standard pack weighs in at 1.6GB (they're in separate directories). After excluding common redistributables such as DirectX and Visual C++, the game itself comes out to about 11GB.

Similar to the Xbox 360/PS3 version, most cut scenes are rendered real time and in-engine. Some cut scenes, such as those from the Separate Ways content introduced with the PS2 version, were only captured in video. Aside from that, movies such as the opening CGI movie are naturally upscaled from the original 2005 release (again, same with all other versions).

Graphics Option - Game allows you to select whatever resolution your Windows OS supports. That said, the game is optimized for 1920x1080 (16:9) format running at 60fps and has been tested as such, but it seems to work in higher resolutions as well. Anything beyond 1080p has not been formally tested and therefore not 'officially' supported by Capcom, but I've had it run fine on 2560x1600, 2560x1440, and 1920x1200 settings. Your mileage may vary. In-menu, the game will also have anti-aliasing options up to 8X, three shadow quality settings, aforementioned texture quality toggle, full screen on/off toggle, motion blur on/off toggle, and one other 'fun' graphics option that I just won't mention at this time so as not to ruin the surprise. There are other graphics options not surfaced via the in-game menu, but I'm sure many of you tinkerers will find it without problem. Standard disclaimer: any tweaks you make outside of the game menu aren't officially supported by Capcom ;-)

Would buy day 1 if I wasn't on meth atm. Might still buy just to show support (dragons dogma please capcom)

Did I say meth? I meant Marvel Heroes :p yes it's that bad, it's like vanilla wow days. Don't ask me why, it's my 15 year old self dream game I guess

Remind me not to mock people that only play one game all the time (like Dota for example) ever again

I'll buy re4 eventually

I never really understood why people like it so much, but maybe it's me just liking re2 and 1 so much that I can't accept any other gameplay

but it didn't do it for me back in the ps2 days

Those HD environment textures still need some work. Like, a lot higher res. those SD textures are what I expect on a gamecube/wii game.

I think RE4 is loved because of the first few areas and the "zombie" attacks on the houses. It really was special at the time and I can't think of any game that got close to that same style of terror.

From there I'll contend the game is pretty ordinary except for the inclusion of several amazing boss battles.

Contrast that to the much maligned RE5. The attacks are no longer special, because they have done it all before...and the boss battles sucked. Other than that it is pretty much the same thing.

You shoot a guy into his stupid knee and suplex him to ground while 2 giants throw rocks at your in a room filled with lava while a guy while a chainsaw chases you.

It's arguably the best TPS out there and it influences TPS games to this day.

I love classic RE and love survival horror/locked cameras/tank controls more than anything but RE4 is TPS perfection

So I got invited to the streaming beta. Yay, I guess, although I don't really need this feature.

In other news, finals are over.

I just checked my mail after waking up, and I got in the streaming beta! Yay!

Oh, wait, I have no internet back home right now and I won't probably have for a couple of weeks.

And my finals are close.

And I haven't even started played Runner 2 and Deadly Premonition, my two most wanted games yet because of my internet problems.

FML :(

On the bright side, you'll have more time to focus on finals, right? Is there nowhere else you can go to get internet for the time it'd take to download them?

Yeah, I know I'll be able to focus more on them… Problem is, I've only got two this semester, so I'm not going to be studying all day for them.

Right now I'm at a library, but this is an old Mac that can't run those games, even if I switch to my Windows partition :(

My update of the 3 games I'm currently playing:

Tropico 4: I have 6 hours according to Steam and the way I describe it is deja vu... is practically identical to the prequel. I've seen more new content in some DLC than this sequel, the graphics are not perceived feel like going from a Game Cube to a Wii graphically (I know, bad joke ...

), the music is exactly the same. Still a very fun game but it is the same as the third. Actually after finishing the first mission I closed the game to see if I had not confused and had played before.

Being such a large country is a pain. So we decided we want something in return. We are imposing a tax of freedom in every country of his caliber.

Pay is strictly voluntary and will only have a small effect to be included in the list of countries that will soon invade.

Send 2,000.

Spelunky: This is my new vice, is a drug, I'm 27 hours I finally just now just exceed $ 221,000 for the first time and well I want more because, was in a perfect game and made the most stupid mistake and i need to play it again because I know I can break that record.

But still Gaf people are crazy :( 500,000 - 600,000 ? :(

Dead Island: I played with 1 friend and 2 people over the internet, the game is monotonous, soulless. Have you ever felt when youre playing something and just want to end and uninstall it and put the game in the ¨finished List¨? It happens to me with this. Mediocre game.

And is a buggy game
