this is some serious drama stuff going on right now, I have no idea what's going on here with cboat, this guy, Gopher's implication, or anything else

weirdest night on GAF in ages

it's pretty much GAF insiders vs. MS marketing department, rn. LOL I expect more GAF insiders to roll up on this thread and continue to clock, and by next week GAF detectives will have exposed MS' new marketing tactic/ploy... >_<

So no need for a one before holiday 2015 then? Lets hope the price is down and the Kinect is out by then!

Isnt it bad news that halo got delayed?

Not really. It is getting replaced with a game that people have been wanting for years now. This will allow them to polish up Halo 5 and still allow us to get in some Halo. They can use it as a testing ground for the Halo 5 multiplayer.

2 is YMMV sure, but 1 and 3 are arguably the stronger titles. (I enjoyed R2's co-op.)

You do realize that Sony has never owned Insomniac and that Insomniac has always been an independent developer right.

If SO is a title with over the top shootbang and different graphical style that MS wants to tout? Good on 'em. They funded something I'm interested in buying.

3 is a titanic step down from 2 imo. Large scale multiplayer was :O

Insomiac is hit or miss. They made downright bad Ratchet and Clank games, but also really great Ratchet and Clank games. They made great shooters and they also made a downright awful one too.

The fact that we haven't seen ANY gameplay or new screenshots of Sunset Overdrive is why my expectations are of Fuze level.

I could see how this was a planned leak, especially given it's all coming from a junior member that was approved yesterday. No offense, ntkrnl. :p

I mean, MS could use some good news right about now.

no i mean is it Gopher's guess,or does he actually have information that tells him this? Why is Microsoft choosing some leaks on GAF then to reveal this information, why do they think this is necessary? What are they seeing? If it is them, in what ways are they being selective about what they're leaking? What parts of the picture are we missing?

Some weird shit going on right now. Feels like manipulation.

MS are seeing Best Buys and like stores no longer requesting shipments because they have thousands of xbones sitting in warehouses across the globe...

Cmon bro, you can't get "out-leaked" like that. Spill some of dem beans.
Hey now, it's not a competition. I've no intentions of leaking anything now. I think it's honestly better to keep things where they need to be until official announcements are ready. GAF's thirst is too much. Not that I don't like MS leaks, because as evident from the past year, they make for the most entertaining stuff.

you are interested in buyin and itooks like ass to me and i have ZERO interest in this title, or anything from Insomniac after Resistance 1.

Who cares? Bottom line is Resistance is a franchise Sony backed heavily and Insomniac couldnt ever really cultivate. And FUSE was the punchline to a joke. SO looked terrible at E3, and nothing special.

Im AL FOR new IP, but MS hasnt shown shit yet, and the one songle interesting new IP from black tusk was placed on the back burner for the new Gears. (Im actually happy about Gears, but bummed the game BT was working on is being pushed aside)

I doubt it's intentional. This damages their marketing rollout plan. There will be people who will wait till October, now that they know there will be a white SKU or November if they want the 1 TB SKU. Most of the game related leaks, except Halo 2 are not exciting enough to hype people up since they were mostly expected. Knowing Crackdown comes in 2016 or Halo 5 in 2015 won't do anything for MS in 2014. This leak, if true, will do more harm for MS than good. It's all exciting for us, but doesn't really translate to $$$ for them.

I think it is damage control for the Tomb Raider 30/60 FPS dustup. This will change the hot topic of conversation for awhile especially among the very NeoGAF types that would be hyping the Tomb Raider controversy.

You are right that the leaks are a bit tame but the shear quantity of them gives them weight. The $399 SKU is mostly a wash. The lower priced SKU will appeal to the cost conscience, but the inability to buy, sell, and trade used disk based games will have the opposite effect.

If this was intentionally released to block the bad news then there is no reason that it has to be 100% accurate although I think it mostly is. Microsoft gets a trusted source on NeoGAF to shape opinion without giving up too much. The source even admits that they want this news to get out. I'm not trying to imply that this is something wrong that MS is doing. It just gives them another way to release PR information.

I know it's not much, but for what it's worth I can confirm Fable Anniversary isn't coming to X1.

When I was at E3 I talked at length to some of the folks working on the title (I was getting a hands-on demo of it) and when I broached the subject, the lead just looked at me and said "Nope! Only X360".

I said, "That seems like an odd move. Why not do an X1 version as well?", and the guy just looked at me again and said "Xbox...360......only!" He seemed really annoyed at the topic. Not because I was asking, but because they might not have gotten the green light on the project.

GAF is crazy tonight, it's like all the insiders are trying to one-up each other and just dropping bombs left and right.

I feel like we've gotten two or three E3's worth of information tonight.

These leaks and the fact that you might see a $399 SKU this year do nothing but make it harder to move those consoles. I would wager that it is not the case.

Likely a guy who just got tired of seeing only negative MS info get leaked. Suddenly some neutral or positive stuff gets leaked and we think it must be a marketing ploy...

IDK, I want to believe in Halo 2 Anniversary.

The weird thing with these leaks if they're Microsoft sanctioned are that they are getting people to wait until the holidays or next year to buy an Xbox One instead of getting one with Titanfall.

Oh man we've been had. I can feel Penello's lying fingers all over this.

We've been played like a fool! noooooooooo

You said this "good news" thing about the gears announcement too.

I have noted we've only been told information about games already announced or series that have been around a while but I don't really understand this "could use the good news".

Considering the higher price, Xbox one seems to be doing well and microsoft have a decent slate of titles announced and they're going balls in for titanfall in 6 weeks or so time.

Insomniac are working with MS, not because Sony ditched them, but because Insomniac are not happy with their relationship with Sony and they're liking MS support and MS $$$.

...Or. They're an independent developer and MS funded the pitch of the game

Not really arguably, 2 and 3 are leagues better. I personally thought 3 was OK, but the MP was weak compared to the other options, and the whole game was just stuck in the past. R1 at the time though was amazing and still a top game for last generation for me.

Yup. I hated R3's MP, but the SP made up well enough for it. R1 is immortal.

3 is a titanic step down from 2 imo. Large scale multiplayer was :O

Insomniac are my favorite developers, but wouldn't by any means call their games a cut above the others. and yes R3 MP is shit

Who cares? Bottom line is Resistance is a franchise Sony backed heavily and Insomniac couldnt ever really cultivate. And FUSE was the punchline to a joke.

Remember when sony had that huge marketing campaign for Resistance 2 and 3 (as well as Puppeteer and Tearaway)

i sure didn't. Sony funded the development of the games sure (probably) but they should know that sneding gaming out to die isn't really the BEST thing to do for an IP you're backing. Sony brought it on themselves.

what's the joke

Because they haven't put anything good out in YEARS. Nothing since the early PS3 days, and it could be argued late PS2

Well if this turns out to be true it looks like MS is not rushing titles out the door. That's a good thing.

I just picked up Halo:CEA and having fun with it. I hope they include 3D but this time at a higher res.

I think the implication here is that MS gave the go ahead to "leak" this stuff.
That's what I believe is being implied. There are lots of 'controlled leaks'. Some of the stuff from last year certainly was.

Edit:

Or is it because there is nothing worth leaking on Sony's side for now? :(
There is plenty of great stuff happening. Just be patient for a while until the announcements come. You've already seen what SCE is capable of on the first party front with the PS3, they're only bigger now. Also, if someone did a legitimate Sony leak with lots of information, it wouldn't end well for them. There are eyes on this forum, and some of the sources are also known.

I really want to wait for a white one, but I'm not sure if I will. Either way, it's good news all around.

I would be inclined to agree. The breadth of topics these leaks span is almost like they were sanctioned. Obviously I have nothing to prove that but as viral marketing it is a good idea, hype for some xbox one games even way off ones like Crackdown generate some buzz without MS having to officially announce games that are 24 months away which might seem desperate. At least this seems like reliable news so that is something.

The quick confirmation that was able to happen with the no disc drive system seems unusual since that would be a huge announcement reeks of testing the waters and although the Verge does dabble in gaming stuff Tom Warren is a friendly face for Microsoft to leak thing to, he is respected as a MS booster and works for a major tech publication.

I guess it is impossible to determine a controlled leak from a real one unless another leaker leaks info about controlled leaks. Then Leakception!

Honestly I'm happy for all Xbox One owners as I was one until just recently, however Halo(I cant get into the series)/Forza(Great but Forza 5 with micro transaction put me off for a while) was expected so nothing exciting there.

Halo 2 was very disappointing on Vista and just put me off Halo for quite a while, Halo 3 I liked and then I just never bothered anymore.

Crackdown 3 is pretty Interesting, however 2016? Fable Legends 2015? QB...not Interested at all, Sunset Overdrive looks amazing.

What I get is people get excited for different things, all opinions and no one is wrong, for me though? Yeah This list and the other info just tells me to wait until 2016 to pick up an Xbox One or later, I've said I'll re-purchase the Xbox in 2 years and this list hasn't changed my mind to re-buy it earlier.

Also $399 XB1 this year without an Optical Disc Drive would be a very hard sell, but you never know, good luck to them, I certainly will be staying as far away as possible from that potential abomination.(I just cant trust MS with the shit they tried to pull before Launch)

Don't really understand why they would ditch the optical drive but not Kinect when it's Kinect and not the optical drive that is basically fucking up the price, and the download only sku is going to alienate retail partners.

Are we witnessing the dawn of a new avenue of hype building and free internet journalism? I'm all for it as long as there is ~some~ transparency.

Hey, all I need is a video of whatever prototype/alpha that Media Molecule PS4 team is working on, and I don't need anything else for the rest of the year.

Those wizards, man. I don't know what goes in their diets to think of such creative stuff.
