So halo fans were speculating and then were confirmed by MS that halo was coming out this year. I don't get where you are taking this ?

halo_5_tweet_robsemsey.png

it was clear as a day especially with them confirming that halo was coming this fall that everyone and there mother were expecting to play a shiny new halo on their shiny new system.

You can't argue with fact. This is exactly what happened. if you want to justify delay for whatever reason, that's fine. but people were expecting Halo 5 not a decade old port.
Halo fans have been speculating for an updated/refreshed Halo 2 since Halo 3 was announced. Put no stake in it.

Massive grain of salt needed. Morty says the bundle was planned, but got axed.

Who would you believe? Take your pick! ;)

See this is exactly what I'm talking about as far as these so called insiders go.

Nope that isn't happening.

Oh wait, yea, yea it is happening.

Actually, no it's not happening.

I mean changing with the wind. Are we to say the sources just up and changed their minds in a whole of a day.

We are all insiders.

Yes but I've just decided I want a "Covenant War" collection for Xbox One. Reach, CEA, 2A, ODST and finally 3, all in one amazing box tthat includes some sort of book like the Hyrule Historia. I would gladly pay $150+ for the whole thing

Why should a title not be delayed indefinitely so that it's an infinitely better game? Yes I do want a better game and I prefer the delay over rushing it out but that doesn't stop me from being disappointed. I am both ok with the driveclub being delayed and disappointed it is doing so. Am I mad at the developers or publishers? No just honestly disappointed.

And Halo 2 eh. I loved the game but I've played it before and depending on how the MP is done I could see myself getting into it. I'm more a Halo 3 kind of guy.

With Halo 5 I'd at least be happy with the campaign I'm sure. Already played through Halo 2's campaign multiple times so while a remake will be nice it's not super exciting

I don't get disappointed by delays anymore, usually. It's almost always to make the game better, and I'll bet everyone here has a big backlog they need to get to anyway.

ntkrnl posted in this thread earlier this morning. Post #1180 on page 24.

He/she is (for the time being) apparently still alive and kickin'.

nt posted after that too...

Well, there is obviously going to be way more than what I typed out.

Blow to the ego as it may be, we knew Halo was going to happen and Crackdown 3 has been hinted at so very much. Platinum Games title is not much of a drop in the water either, in the grand scheme of things.

LOL. Such is the nature of rumors :)

I know you have posted quite a bit of info over the past few days, but I was wondering if you knew anything about Halo 5's Gameplay. Thanks!

I think a combination of things make me feel pretty good about Crackdown 3 if this information is true.

First being Dave Jones and second being that its quite far away, seems like MS are intending to give it a decent development time.

Still not sure what they were thinking with an 8 month development time...

I have high hopes for Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive (and intend to purchase them), but I think neither will light the world on fire. Titanfall and Halo 2 Anniversary will probably make a much larger splash, like it or not.

The amount of force MS is pushing the Xbox One with leads me to think this will be a return to the original Xbox's software glory (to this day, it's probably my most played system, and I started with an NES). Exclusives seem to be gaining back momentum, having lost a lot in the previous generation, and I love it. Multiplatform games tend to be overly derivative, because the mentality behind their existence is usually "lowest common denominator."

When I reflect back on the generations of consoles I enjoyed the most, it's always the ones that had a lot of exclusives. It made the competition more cut-throat than simply feeling like each console being a Blu-Ray player, and you just buy whatever because it has all the same movies.

I purely blame the the result of Crackdown 2 on the 8 month development time.
But there was still some nice new feature that I'm interested to see included in 3.

That doesn't answer my question. By that reasoning, we wouldn't port Halo 3, which he was suggesting doing.

3 is a main series game. ODST was more an offshoot side project, and didn't even have standard multiplayer - no matchmaking. I could see 3 way more than ODST.

Who cares if it's main or off shoot? Halo 3 just happens to be part of the main series, while ODST is claimed by many to be the best campaign in the series. I don't see why they should leave it off.

Perhaps release it in a separate bundle with CEA (this time with the original multiplayer), Reach, and ODST or something.

No, that scene doesn't appear in H2. Also, the metal bird is Forerunner in its design, so the trailer was definitely for H5 (or whatever they end up calling it).

I don't know why there is any interpretation needed here. Specifically with that trailer which was clearly the next chapter of Halo. It continued the
Cortana is dead
story, Chief was cloaked? Things were floating in the air and this huge forerunner thing pops out of the ground.

343 and Microsoft announced Halo 5 for 2014. Now they are redirecting again and you know what, 343 does this a lot.

I don't think its a coincidence that so many high level people came and went at 343 and this happens. Now the game might end up better but lets not pretend that Halo 5 didn't just get delayed if true.

i hope H2A comes out this year and they push H5 to fall 2015. New Haloez need a break.

You know, I would be fine with that. I remember my anticipation for Halo 3 building up, every campaign screenshot was an event, and it all culminated in that amazing campaign debut trailer at E3 2007. It's something I would love to experience again, especially if it means we'd get a better game in the end.

I'm kind of hoping he leaks more tonight... wondering if he has anything else.

Hopefully there's something actually worth leaking this time instead of a million more halo, forza and fable stuff. I was on the sidelines when the leak happened but I was baffled when everyone though it was some huge surprise MS had a ton of Halo crap coming.

What was a surprise was finding out the big new studio MS created to make a new IP is being turned into a Gears of War factory. Now that was a day I wish I was here for lol.

So... if the leaked schedule is true I am not seeing much for those like me who aren't Halo, Fables, and Gears fans. Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break might be cool but not drop half a grand cool. Baring some crazy stuff announced at E3 I'm not seeing a game I want for for awhile. I like Titanfall but that'd be a PC game for me.

Ntkml had stated there's more. He just didn't want to give everything away.

I got the impression he didn't have an Xbox, he was just stating a frustration over a lack of interesting games. Once the whole Gears thing happened I kind of realized MS is copying the track they paved last generation. Start off with a bunch of moneyhatted 3rd party games with some 1st party sprinkled in, then coast with Halo/Forza/Gears. We'll see if that means the last half of this generation is as much of a wasteland as it was on 360, but the early signs are troubling to say the least.

I don't have any worries yet. If you ever thought they'd just ditch their biggest franchises..... I mean come on.

Gears was new last gen anyway. Halo 3 didn't come out for two years. Forza was practically a 360 game - came out in 2005, same year as x360.

I'm primarily a Playstation gamer but I've owned every Xbox up until the One. I also have a gaming PC and much prefer shooters with mouse and keyboard. I was kind of lost in the 360 generation since Halo kind of petered out for me around 3 and Reach and Gears, Forza, Call of Duty don't do it for me. I loved playing multi plats with Live's superior service and there were some gems here and there that I absolutely loved.

But I was really, really hoping Microsoft first party stepped up with new IPs. Now, they might be doing that, but so far that seems to be left to a few studios while Redmond assigns their uber talent to a few mega franchises.

I'd love for them to do something like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica with Sony and split 343 or Black Tusk into two teams with one dedicated to a new IP if they aren't doing so already.

So, TL:DR I have very, very few reasons to want to own an Xbox One based on the current information. I'm starting to think it's going to be a very late gen purchase, if at all, with the PS4 and PC taking up more of my attention with their libraries.

I would've bought an X1 for Quantum Break. Same for Alan Wake and 360 (before there was a PC version). Love Remedy.

I debated on whether or not to start a new thread for this, but I think the mods would like a break from policing it honestly.

Pete Dodd's piece on this leak - http://doddscientifics.com/2014/02/01/ntkrnlxnorovirusxnpds/

Most interesting part is:
The email was written expressly for me. I mean, obviously all emails you get are written for you, but this person wasn’t just putting together a mass email and trying to hit industry personalities with info. He was responding directly to my tweets saying that NTKRNL was not a part of Microsoft marketing and that Microsoft was trying to track him down with all available resources and that not only was he going to be fired but they were also going to press charges about releasing trade secrets. I read the email about five times. It made zero sense to me. Actually, let me clarify that, it made zero sense that they would spend the time writing this email *TO* me. Yeah, #PS4NoDRM was a big deal, I’m also not oblivious to the fact that I am much more visible in the community now than I was several years ago… but I’m not a bigtime player. I’m barely a bit player. Why spend that time communicating with me? This person didn’t care what I thought. They just knew that I had some sort of reach and were trying to spin it. Big or small. IGN or YouTube personality. They know they need to get the message out through everyone.

I was hoping to see that new IP from Black Tusk. To me it was showing they at least were going to commit to a new IP of their own that was going to have a decent investment. Now it seems like that has been side-tracked to get something more of a guarantee of sales. Both Nintendo and Microsoft seem to be playing it awfully safe when it comes to high profile titles. Sure Microsoft is more likely to write a blank check to gain exclusives like Ryse and Titanfall more so than Nintendo but their own studios seem to be stuck in a rut. Fable, Forza, Halo and now Gears of War with Rare being left to make use of Kinect.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
It's a confusing mess to me also. I tell every detail I get from people I trust. They sometimes contradict. When they do I'm just as lost.
When someone says yes, and someone says no, and they both hold equal weight, wouldn't it be best to drop it? Which... I think you're already doing? We'll find out sooner rather than later regardless. Dunno what the big deal with bundles is any way... It's not like they're Nintendo handhelds.

When did this happen?!

I've always read the title of your post. I promise!

It was prototyped but it isn't coming out as of now. And I assume now is too soon to then to rekindle.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
