This is what happens when you scare all the gays away.

Can we discuss how insane it is that the Winter Olympics hosts roughly one fourth of the number of athletes and one third of the number events as the Summer Olympics, yet the Sochi games somehow cost about $7 billion more than the Beijing games?

Systemic corruption at every level of commerce and government?

At least in China you've got the deterrent of, "if I get caught they'll put a bullet in my head."

It's pretty sad to think that largely Sochi was supposed to show that Russia is still a world super power and what they're cabable of but now everyone is just laughing at them.

How about the fact that Russia is spending more on a road connecting venues than Canada spent on the entirety of the Vancouver Winter Games?

Have these journos ever left the States? Stray dogs and not flushing TP are common in Eastern Europe.

i've been there plenty of times, have not been to a toilet where I couldn't flush TP. but I stayed in places that are at least approaching modernity.

When I lived in Brazil the not flushing paper was common enough that one facility I went to had signs telling people specifically that they could flush their paper and to please do so because bins were not provided.

I've never encountered this in more than 20 years of travels through Spain, France, Germany, Italy, etc

Yeah, that's definitely not something you would find in western Europe. It's more a central/eastern Europe thing, and only with older buildings (there are new norms for pipe sizes now, that are the same for almost every European country).

Those beds might be destroyed once the shagging period of the athletes comes. I read news that they always outstrip the demand for condoms every olympics.

That's logical when you think about it... when you round up thousands of young, fit athletes in the same place, what would you expect to happen ? :p

That's gonna be one awkward shit...
Weird thing is, you can see the line in the wall where the stall divider was.

Maybe they took it down after realising the doors won't fit?
