I think Freedom Wars is set for this summer, while Gravity Rush 2 doesnt have any release date yet. Gravity Rush is probably the latest released 1st party Vita game, but i'm sure there are more stuff in the works that isnt announced yet.

There's also Over My Dead Body 2, which should comeout this year I guess.

Lol. Anyone who thought that WiiU Fit would have any impact should.... become the CEO of Nintendo. Looooooooool. :D

The 3DS situation should be ringing alarm bells in Kyoto. They need to release the cheaper 2DS model soon, or do something else to stem this decline.

I agree. The hardware sales for the 3DS now seems to be drying up (not just in Japan, but everywhere else as well).

There needs to be more compelling games or something. Even the PS Vita is getting more Japanese 3rd party support in Japan.

Without the 3DS to carry hardware sales, that total YTD is depressing to look at >.<

It's LTD is nearly on par with the GBA total sales in Japan (which was at nearly 17 million).

I hope all of Nintendo's Qol Software bombs hard and they use their resources to focus on games. If they think that don't need third party, at least bring us 1 game per month.
If we didn't have software drought I would mind, but that's not the case.

I was expecting Yokai Watch to bomb but it looks like Level 5 finally made another decent selling franchise.

Wii U Fit bombed hard so maybe QOL games are on the downslope. Perfect time for Nintendo to jump in the market.

To me it seems more like people have no reason to buy a Wii U for games like Wii Fit U.

The fact that Iwata actually thought Wii Fit U would do something, makes me horrified at how their QOL thing will be designed and the software they make for it. They seem unable to comprehend the fact that all of the designs they've made with the Wii __ series is currently obsolete in the market and seem to have just reached the conclusion that everyone would love to buy this crap if there wasn't a pesky videogame machne in the way.

To me it seems more like people have no reason to buy a Wii U for games like Wii Fit U.

So then why are they going to buy a QOL platform/system/nonwearable/blahblah by Nintendo?

Attention:
  • THIS IS FOR 2014, not just one month..
Rules:
  • Do not edit your post after the deadline. If you do, you'll be disqualified.
  • The official yearly hardware sales will be the yearly total published by Famitsu or the sum of weekly numbers for all versions of the system available.
  • The official yearly software sales will be from the Famitsu Top 100 or the latest total available.
  • Any game not released in the period will be taken out of the predictions.

The joke in these threads is on anyone who thinks SmokyDave isn't serious. It's a double con.

Iwata, on the other hand, just might be the supreme joker. I can't tell. It's either that or he's a moron.

Forgot about GR 2, so thank you. Wasn't it announced that all Sony studios work on PS4 ( that's why I asked to begin with)? Makes me wonder if they will release anything besides Rush 2 and Freedom Wars.

Thanks.

I hope they do but they'll probably combine numbers for both PS3/PS4 and PSP/Vita.

Well even if they combine their numbers when it comes to last quarter data maybe they still give us new updated sell trough figure for PS4 considering how impressive its sales have been.

DQM2 sold out on Amazon, new shipment on Feb 15... lol?

[3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D # <RPG> (Square Enix) {2012.05.31} (¥5.490) - 513.183 / NEW

It's going to fail so bad. Maybe then Iwata will resign. Or he'll just take another pay cut and promise to do better next time. Endless cycle.

Hmm, 1:00 AM PST/4:00AM EST

What should we be expecting for Sony?

Pitiful handheld numbers, great home console numbers. Considering how low the losses were for gaming division during the first two quarters (about 157 million combined which is pretty low considering the ramp up for new hardware launch) maybe they even turned some nice profit during this holiday quarter (gaming division).

Should note their earnings release documents/slides will be up 2hrs before the earnings conference call.

Will be interesting, all eyes are probably on how much TVs are still losing them rather than Game..?

People will be eyeing the movies division numbers too just to see how bad they are. Sony really need to consider what sort of movies they're greenlighting, and to finally force a budget on people.

Amazing Spiderman 2 will probably help them a lot for the next fiscal year. Not sure what else is on the release slate.

This. The casual/non-gaming audience have all moved onto smartphones & tablets now.

I don't know what Nintendo was thinking that another version of Wii Fit would help out sales of the Wii U.

You act as if Nintendo didn't have this in development for a while. Like Nintendo said, they thought they could convert the 500K people still technically using Wii Fit. They got about 85K if you include the bundles.

Just took a quick look and Panasonic and Sharp, which were losing billions due to the strong Yen (Sony's excuse in the last two years), are already making money. Most of the other big Japanese electronic companies (Hitachi, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu) are also making money; only saw NEC losing.

I expect Sony to make company to NEC.

The big one coming up next is the Robocop reboot.

I think the original point was movies that were going to help Sony, not further bury them.

I know, but 85K doesn't seem to be as big as 500K, nor did it help move many Wii U's off of the store shelves.

From the other thread:

Iwata said this about Wii Fit U earlier last year:

"Our survey in Japan shows, for example, that more than 500,000 people are still using their Wii Balance Boards on a daily basis, and we find similar trends in other regions, too."

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata believes that Wii Fit U is going to be the title that finally puts the Wii U on the map.

By making Wii Fit U free for a month, Nintendo hopes that many of these daily Balance Board users will choose to upgrade to the Wii U console. "By using the pre-release trial version as a catalyst, we will strive to create and disseminate buzz, and ultimately turn it into an enduring bestseller," he adds.

Nintendo: Half a million Japanese people still play Wii Fit daily

Maybe their survey should have included the following, rather simple but important question:
"Are you willing to pay $300 for a new WiiFit?"

[PS4] Hardware - 2.700.000
[3DS] Hardware - 4.200.000
[PSV] Hardware - 1.700.000
[WIU] Hardware - 1.500.000
[3DS] Monster Hunter 4 G - 1.200.000
[3DS] Super Smash Bros. - 1.000.000
[WIU] Super Smash Bros. - 750.000
[WIU] Mario Kart 8 - 1.200.000

I was really hoping for a sign that they would change direction at the Investor's Presentation, but we really got nothing of the sort.

They just defended the GamePad, the software, and the direction. The real problem is that the underperforming QoL software weren't taking up enough resources away from games, so it needed to become its own platform.

It's a very difficult thing to admit that not only did your ideas fail, but you don't have the strategic capacity to fix the mess. If Iwata goes down, he's taking the ship with him.

Is there an exhaustive list of Japanese third party titles announced for both platforms somewhere?

I'd be interested to see just how big the difference is, regardless of which has more support.

Edit: I only ask because of your usage of 'proven false each time' which I assume means such a list is available. I tried to create one myself a week or two ago and didn't have the first idea how to aggregate the necessary data.

Does anyone have the graph comparing the Pokemon games' week by week sales and Monster Hunter 3 Portable's sales vs. 4's sales? Thanks.
