We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Looking good. Not had a chunky campaign to bite through since God of War back in April; this should do the trick until Red Dead. I also missed Sunset Overdrive so it'll be nice to see what Insomniac have been putting out.

Not my cup of tea.

Shocker.

I suppose that since this is the "Gameplay launch trailer," there will be other launch trailers to come (e.g., story launch trailer, etc.).

Looking forward to the game. It's a dry spell, I'm stuck inside because it's so friggen hot outside, and I need something to keep my thumbs busy.

Other than being a "PS4 exclusive", and thus getting an automatic 20% bonus of metacritic score , what is so good about this game?

There have been so many spider-man games in the past, and weren't they mediocre? Why is this one different?

If this was multiplatform, nobody would be talking about it. Sony games are so hyped, and most of the time they end up disappointing.

Can't wait to play this. Looks amazing! But what is going on with One World Trade Center in that trailer? It can be seen around 0:21. It looked right in many of the previous trailers but now it looks different. I'm a bit sad if they can't use the tallest building in New York in the game.

Yes, absolutely, a new Marvel game would get zero coverage. That fad is like so over.

Please tell me how many times people were hyping up a Spider-man game, or any superhero game, this much. Even the best one, Arkham Asylum, was kind of a surprise, and not hyped for months in advance as if it was the next greatest thing ever made.

This game has a big budget and they have developed it for many years. Many of the previous open-world Spider-Man games have been movie games and the developers didn't have much time.

There has been no Spider-Man game with the budget of an exclusive AAA game. All past Spidey games had mediocre budgets and heavy time constraints compared to this, the last one (TASM2) even had their budget cut to a quarter of the first one.

I'm not commenting on that, it may very well be overhyped, partially perhaps given how well PS4 has been doing this generation. Larger target audience -> more hype, it makes sense don't you think?

However, you said "If this was multiplatform, nobody would be talking about it", which is absolute bullshit. Marvel is very popular at the moment everywhere, as is evident with Infinity War being the fourth highest-grossing film of all time.

The hype was misteriously absent from previous Marvel games, like Spider-man, Thor, Iron man, etc. And the only time people talked about those games were to trash them.

Remind me. Were those games developed over the course of many years by a well-respected developer known to be able to pull it off, or in a rush to meet a movie deadline? Was there footage released years earlier, confirming it might actually turn out to be good?

Gonna be so dang good. I gotta make my way over to Gamestop later this month to pre-order. I wonder if they're doing a midnight release?

Any of the developers of those games were at the level of Insomniac?

This time Marvel looked for developers to get the game done. Before, developers would pay Marvel to get the license to produce the game.

It makes all the difference. If you ever get to play this game, make sure to compare it to for example The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while it was not trash, I'd bet Imnsoniac's will be way more polished.

That said, I know that you are not being serious and it's just console war stuff, the 20% bonus on metacritic gave you away. Almost got us, though!

That felt more like a "Story Launch Trailer."

Anyhow, once again, it's time to dust off the PS4 and hope it doesn't melt playing this like God of War...I really should just grab a Pro.

This game is winning me over after watching an actual "Gameplay Trailer".

I am full on for the hype train, but don't dog pile the guy saying have some reservations. Outside of Batman superhero games are generally meh and the last few Spiderman games have all been variouse levels of Meh to outright bad.

I am going to get the game. I am expecting tons of fan service. I just hope that they don't over complicate things and that the game doesn't become a boring set of fetch quests.

I think what provoked the responses was implying that the hype was because it's a Sony exclusive, not because it is a hero game.

I must confess I'm full on the hype train since the announcement. Spidey is my favourite super hero and I think Inmsoniac it's a great choice. I mean, everything could happen but I think most likely it will work just fine.

You going to cry about Sony's metacritic in every thread? There's a reason why the game was hyped so much, its because of the trailer. Go play your Sea of Thieves, ya know, the game that wasn't overhyped to hell and became a dud.

Jesus Christ, give it a rest. We get it, you can't play it, you are bitter, sucks to not own the right console.

There is a huge difference between the previous Spidey games and this one.

Being a SONY exclusive means higher budget and more developement time, plus Insomniac is more talented than Beenox.

The last few Spidey games weren't THAT bad either (well, excluding TASM 2), they were just low budget, hurried releases to keep up with the rights deadline and/or the movies release date.

Shattered Dimensions and the first TASM were good actually, and the Activision games weren't half bad either (especially Web of Shadow, which is the best super hero game ever made right after Arkham Origins and City).

Insomniac+high budget means that the game will be AT LEAST at the same level of Batman Arkham Asylum (which I find overrated, imo); plus, do not forget that this is the first chapter of an ongoing series, so the comparation standard will be from the second chapter onwards.

I'm sure that if he really wanted to play it, then he could easily go out and buy a PlayStation 4. It's not like you have to take a loan like if you had to buy a car or a house, to get a PlayStation 4.

But he is right though. It's impressive how hyped exclusive Sony games are. I also believe that if this game was multiplatform then the hype would be a lot lower.

The salt is real in this post lol "20%" bonus? Sounds more like probably your console of choice games getting that 20% boost lol hahahahahaha

He is right? So now you guys are the metric by how ppl feel about games? We have other threads where ppl feel the same about Nintendo games and i feel Zelda was wayyyyyyyy over hyped but i know that my taste is my taste and I really believe some ppl really enjoyed the game the way the scores reflect. If anything I've seen Sony exclusives in the past get dogged for %hit other games didn't get dogged for e.g. Starhawk (dogged for tutorial type campaign yet other games didnt get docked for similar campaigns), Drive Club (Online wasnt working for a few months, however, Halo Collection was borked for a year lol and reviewers scored it high), and a list of other games. Stop the nonsense.

The narratives ppl push over inanimate objects and dedication to that is insane lol Some Sony exclusives score that high and are praised even in the graphics department because they are just that good. I hope this scores really well so the tears can flow.

So you find the best superhero game ever made "overrated", but see no problem in hyping up CG cutscenes and QTEs for a game that hasn't even been released?

I don't buy stuff because of hype.
Good for you! And myself, even though it looks good to me so far, I'll wait for the reviews. As we've already had "first looks" from multiple sources, the review embargo will probably lift well before launch - I'll have plenty of time to preorder, if I feel it is worth the purchase and I want to play it immediately.

But you said "I won't play it because it is mediocre" - that simply does not compute. Unless according to your logic, every game that is hyped beforehand is mediocre. In which case, I think you're missing out on plenty of terrific games.

Don't feed the trolls. Who gives a shit about hype? If you like what you see? Buy. If you don't. Don't buy. I don't care what anyone thinks about a game.

I love what I see but for me it's, as someone mentioned, not a gameplay trailer More like in engine cut scenes.

Yes, overrated due to horrible boss fights, boring stealth sessions, horrible art style and direction, short lenght.

Personally I like QTEs and for the few I've played and watched I think Spider-Man's combat is more deep.

Batman games are cool to look at but ultimately not fun to play. Combat was rock-scissor-paper, detective mode was just basic puzzles and most action scenes meant Batman hiding under the floor like a wuss. The best super hero games are made by Sucker Punch. I'm hoping Spider-man does not copy Batman too much, Spider-man is a much more mobile and is a real superhero, not rich guy in a cape.

@Thiagosc777: It's funny that you accuse people for liking the game because it's exclusive but at the same time you yourself hating on the game just because it exclusive.
