for me this was finding out the halo 1 pistol fires automatically with the trigger held down
i legit did not know until ~2010 or 2011ish
dolphin had to have an update to specifically address that, otherwise when you upressed DKCR DK/Diddy would remain a huge blurry sprite

That's Nintendo for you. Samus and Link tend to also have "secret moves" in a lot of their games.
I can't even imagine all the secret stuff you'll be able to do in BotW. These details are really what separate Nintendo from everyone else.

Yep. Like the Samus "Crystal Flash" energy recharge in Super Metroid.
Your reserve tanks must be empty, you must have at least 10 missiles, 10 super missiles and 11 power bombs and your energy must be under 50. Once this is done, set a power bomb, but when you do, hold down L, R, Down and X and keep it held down until Samus becomes surrounded in a ball of energy, which will re-fill all your energy tanks.

Ooooh this one I actually did know! It was shown in the attract mode when you leave the title screen on for too long or something and then I think it was in Nintendo Power or something.

If you watch the attract demo you see this attack as well as a few other hidden ones. I didn't learn how to do this until about 10 years later though.

Everyone knows that, while in the room with multiple levels of ? blocks where hitting them in the right order allows you to get 1ups that if you hit them on the left side with the cape you get a 1up every time right?

I somehow figured this out on my own as a kid.
Not only that but it's her final smash in smash bros brawl, so this isn't the rarest of gems.

As I kid I always wondered what this random star block was all about. There's only a handful in the game and they spit out a power up like a standard yellow question block:

Nope. As long as you hit the block with the cape without allowing Mario to touch the block you will get a 1up every time. I remember getting the tip out of a magazine or book when the game was in its prime.
