Looks like they're trying to split the difference in tone between the hyper-silly McG movies (loved the first one, the second got everything wrong) and the utterly crappy, straight-faced TV reboot, with the problem being that by not committing to either it looks discordant and firing in too many directions. I really like Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska's dry delivery, but Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Banks especially look completely out of place (Stewart is trying to be too edgy, Banks' performance looks forced and mannered). My suspicion is that this will be dump, but Balinska and Scott will do well out of it. Charlie's Angels is always a tough line to walk, because it has to be fluffy, light and silly all the way through (which McG mostly got right first time out) but if you push the jokes too hard it rapidly becomes insufferable (which he got completely wrong second time around).
