It specifically states that they pick the best 101.

Oh, didn't catch that before.

If that's true that's fucking stupid. Only the top 1% of the player base ever gets to play the fun part of the game (but they can do it over and over!)

Had a full party last night having a blast. I really like the changes they made. The level system is fantastic and should keep me motivated. I wonder when it caps out... outside of that it ran smooth and was a hit with those I played with.

It's like Call of Duty only with trivia questions instead of shooting people in the face with assault rifles.

Wooo! I didn't have Gold over the summer so I never got to play! Really looking forward to playing this. :)
It is definitely fun, but I don't recommend playing every single Extended Play like some do.

I was burnt out about half-way through Season 1. :lol

I like the changes they made. It feels more competitive now, and I love the big Extended Play room that looks like a stadium.

The One can only be selected once a season; the Mobsters can only be selected once a Show. That means they should logically get through somewhere between 1000 and 1500 potential Mobsters per show, more if the Ones suck (which they shouldn't do, given the new selection criteria, but we'll see!). I think I saw numbers like "almost 30k players" banded around a bit, which means you'd probably be looking at 5-10% of players getting a chance in the mob.

I assume it's actually on in Europe? The website's showing a schedule, at least (and wasn't for Thursday), but it's not been updated to talking about Season 2. If it is, I'm sure I'll see some of you guys there tonight.

Edit: Oh, now it has! Guess that confirms it.

As an aside: I'm sure the *very* first time I played it I was browsing the future shows section and I saw an Extended Play devoted to Video Game Trivia. I couldn't make it to that one but I thought I'd keep an eye out in case it cropped up again; it never did. Did anyone else see that? Was it a figment of my imagination? Did anyone get to attend?

Oooh, I'm gonna have to jump in to this again:

So awesome - I need to see my guy do those.
I couldn't help but laugh when I unlocked this dance:

It only has the arm-roll and pelvic thrust part, but still a riot. :lol

I guess instead of trying to fix the problem where no-one could hear the host, they just fired him.

On the last couple of shows last season, I could hear him just fine; I thought they'd nailed it completely.

I think the actual number is somewhere between that 1% and 5%, once you figure into the fact that the player base is probably around 50k or 60k instead of 30k, and the fact that there are rounds based on weekly and season scores (which, face it, you have no chance of getting in on either of those unless you play extended play all night every night).

Regardless of whether the number is 1%, 3%, 5%, or 10%, that's STILL 99%/97%/95%/90% of the players who have literally zero chance of getting into the game. There just needs to be *some* random factor in it.

I mentioned my WoW raid night before. When a *trivia game* needs more of a time commitment than a MMORPG's high-end raiding to get to the meat of the game, you know there's a problem.

I attended one of those Video Game Trivia sessions. It was surprisingly challenging; not that I did bad, just the fact that I missed a few questions was a bit humbling when you think you're hard-core ;).

And there were a fair amount of non-XBox specific questions, in case you thought Microsoft would take advantage of the fact that they are in control of the game content.

Why did it cut to a presenter when the official twitter feed said there isn't one...

Breaking every 15 minutes, forgetting they don't have a host but keeping the section in. Well done MS.

They did video game themed Extended Plays every Monday Night.

BROKEN AGAIN. It's an average of every 15 minutes.

How on earth did this pass ANY certification?!

Just had my second freeze, was looking forward to this but alas no host and issues such as these have really turned me off it.

One of the most common questions we hear from players is, "How do I get selected as the Mob or the One?" Well, in season 2 it’s all about score. Each round of our Live shows, we select the One or the Mob based on 3 alternating criteria:

· Season score – Your total score for the entire season.

· Weekly score – Your total score for that week.

· Previous round score – The score you accumulated in the previous round of the live show.

Before every round, we pick the player with the highest score -- based on that round’s criterion -- as the One. Then, we pick the next 100 eligible players as the Mob. The next round, we select based on one of the other score criteria. Earning score during Extended Play will boost your chances of getting selected, but even those who first show up for the Live game still have a shot. Simple, huh?

That doesn't sound that bad. It's rather easy to place top 100 in a single round. And I seriously doubt it's actually exact anyway.

They haven't resolved the error messages I was getting consistently towards the end of the first UK series.
They can shove this shit back up their arses.

After playing in the beta and never getting in the mob, tonight I got in.

One question in it goes to ad break and CRASHES again.

I'm done for the night, fuck this shite...

Looks like Toythatkills deserves congratulations right at the end there, enjoy your Uno!

I did learn that if I rebooted as soon as I spotted a freeze on the way, I could recover just fast enough to get into a game with a four-digit crowd, even as low as 2k one time. The next round, I was in the mob - really lucky.

...except that it appears that an awful lot of people think that the BBC have made the massive coup of getting Matt Damon to play Doctor Who, meaning my One went out before I could get within the prize zone.

Thanks

Priiiiiiize! I don't really want Uno Rush, but, whatever. I maybe could've been The One if the game lasted one more round!

Four crashes, though. This is way less stable than the beta, what's up with that?

You have to do that in a LIVE game. This isn't LIVE game right now. First one is tomorrow.

wow, I was amping the entire second game trying for this. Good to know. I got 7 of 12 achievements last night and really like the changes. It seems like a lot less points per game, looked like the reduction came from the elimination bonus. I'm looking forward to the live game tonight and any new changes.

The game kept freezing randomly AND there were lots of adverts for GCHQ...

Hmmm. Someone at Microsoft find out whether there were any suspicious connections from the Kremlin during the show. Those damn Russians hate Uno Rush after all, they're known for it.

I'm really disappointed at the lack of a host. A host makes it feel so much more, real, I guess.
Back in the day (okay maybe a year ago), EA had a free trivia game with live hosts (I think a gaffer was a producer or played some role too) every day for several hours. Yeah, having hosts adds a lot to the atmosphere almost regardless of what they actually contribute. Don't tell me they couldn't get someone from the team with a modicum of personality to run the show.

They wouldn't even need that much personality. How hard could it be to get laughs just by taking the piss out of people getting easy questions wrong, etc!

Exactly you'd think it would be easy. Then again there hasn't been a single trivia game even 1/10th as good as YDKJ: The Ride was so many years ago, so I guess trivia games must be harder to make than it seems.

So I can't join in with my Gold account, because they went ahead and region-locked it (was that really necessary)? Once again I get punished for moving - thanks Microsoft.

And I can't join the Silver games with my correct-region account, instead I get an error "Can't retrieve info from Xbox LIVE. Please try again later".

This is pretty cool, I'm liking the changes they made.

It's neat how the camera cuts to random people in the crowd, and you get to see their gamertag and stuff. It's funny seeing some of the crazy avatar outfits and stuff - steampunk dudes, guys with ODST armor, etc.

I don't know if it's deliberate, or just a coincidence, but one time a Friend of mine happened to be in the mob and it cut to him once. Pointing out that "Hey, there's someone you know who's not in your group!", or just a random appearance?

This is the "top 101 last game" game. So everybody who got every question right.

This is going to take forever. One of the reasons no randomness is a stupid idea.

EDIT: Words eaten. Still a stupid idea :P
