I've turned off updates on my PS5 and will probably do the DNS trick so it can't reach Sony servers, just to be sure.

Can't wait to finally play Bloodborne! I should be good on games until PS5 Pro releases and in the mean time play everything online from my PC.

I hack most of my systems at one point or another, but nah this ain't worth it to me.

Now if there was a jailbreak for the latest version of my old PS4 id love to homebrew that one.

Sony: Owns a studio that has specialized in remastering/remaking entire games.
Also Sony: Dragging their ass on FPS patches 3 years into the new generation.

It is as close to free goodwill as you can get in this industry, dammit.

Bloodborne is already a blurry, ugly mess on ps5 - I can only imagine what trying to push 120hz will do to the resolution... unless, I'm misunderstanding what's on offer?

Why do you think that it needs a drop in resolution to run at 60 fps on PS5? It's the same 1080p just with unlocked framerate.

How in the hell can hackers be giving people what they want on PS5 but Sony can't?!
Hackers can not bother with testing and fixing occuring bugs and glitches.
  • The Order 1886: v1.02: 60 FPS
    • Notes: Softlocks will occur in Chapter 6 and 9 during Quick Time Events. Disable patch to progress.

I'm actually playing through it now for the first time and I think it looks great. I have seen comments on the Internet describing the game looking like a complete mess on PS5. Some comments said it has something to do with HDCP turned on or something. No clue if that's accurate but yea, looks fantastic to me, crazy that the game is from 2015.

Its pathetic how lackluster sonys backwards compatibility efforts have been, this isn't hard to implement with the resources sony has but when you have a consumer base that will fall over themselves to buy the most basic of remaster efforts at 70$ why would they even try. I mean they are launching a remaster of freaking the last of us2 and you can be sure people will buy it in droves at 70$ when we should have gotten a fps unlocked and 4k patch like the xbox enhanced versions from this gen.

Sony should just release this for everyone.
Thousands of bug reports: 120 Hz is not locked, it does not work, something is worse than before (notice the * in the patch notes before).

I would love to have more options but it should be per game and guaranteed by the game maker or guaranteed by Sony. This is kind of PC like modding things like Steam Deck can offer for console like gaming but that consumer products cannot offer as the support cost with many loud and sometimes not careful but quick to blame the manufacturer consumers that would cost in customer service more than you gain.

Yeh, real easy testing through every PS4 game. Can you imagine the complaints they'll be getting if they did this and half the games don't work properly with it? Then instead of the very few people saying 'hackers can do it why can't you' they'll have every gaming forum, news outlet, gaming YouTube channel (especially XBox centric ones), you name it, saying how incompetent they are when it's just 'easy to implement'

Just give me 60fps patch on Driveclub you arogant Sony!!

Is this too much to ask for?
Upres to 1440p and add a bit of raytracing and then you have essentially a current gen game considering how little progress racing titles (graphically) have made in the past 10 years or so.

But it will be.. Retroarch on PS5 will be nice.

I guess, but why not just use a PC for emulation? That way don't lose regular console functionality and its just less hassle all round.

I mean, if you're the sort of person who can afford to have a PS5 that is essentially stuck offline, you can afford a decent media PC to stick under your TV :D

PS4 and PS5 games will continue to be patched + Switch emulation should be decent on PS5 and I'd like to see what can be done with PS3 emulation.
Imagine having a PS5 that can play all your games from 5 generations 🥳

Because it's a PS4 game? Seems to be the part you're misunderstanding. It doesn't run any better on PS5 than PS4...because it was never patched or updated to do any better.

Of course a PS4 game running on PS5 leaves a lot of extra horsepower on the table, that could be used to uncap the FPS.

120hz is a bit too much for these cpus. I'd settle for just 60.

For games that can even run on a base PS4, 120 should be in reach of most titles

Imagine being able to emulate a PS3...

I'm not interested in it, my PS5 is on the latest FW always. I just remember the PS4 crack was pointless unless you wanted to pirate games.
I haven't played RDR2 and Bloodborne - seemingly two of the greatest games last gen, and with only a year until PS5 Pro releases I won't have trouble waiting to play my PS5 games on that - actually I'd rather wait, just like I waited to play RDR2 and Bloodborne.

This is one dude without complete documentation and full access. You can try to defend sony like a brand evangelist or actually dare to demand better than the bare minimum. They can easily build an emulator that can run the games with higher resolutions and framerates and add the games that are works in progress later. Look at what a small team did with rpcs3 with massive limitations. You really think this is beyond sony,s capabilities with far better talent pool, resources and access to the source code and documentation?

The reason they will never do it is because they know they can ripoff their consumer base who will buy the most basic of remasters at full price.

You keep saying easy, so its easy to build emulators now is it? Ones that run every game at expected levels of performance? and then keep updating said emulator.

Question, are you a developer? you must have vast knowledge of development (of the PS5) to say 'easily build an emulator' (I presume you are talking about PS1, PS2 and PS3) or its easy to make every PS4 game run at 120hz on the PS5 (and this one dude has support for, what, 12 titles? if Sony are to do it they'd have to support thousands)

I am not saying it is beyond Sony's resources, but those resources are better spent elsewhere, you know, making NEW games.

I'll just never understand why Sony just ignores the the massive amount of free goodwill it could garner from it's fans with patches like these.

I just told you a tiny team with massive limitations already put out an impressive emulator while having little access to source code, documentation etc yet you completely dance around this and use whataboutism to deflect. Keep in mind the ps3 is extremely difficult to emulate and has an architecture far removed from the ps4 yet they still managed to accomplish this. The ps5 is designed to make the transition to the new console as smooth as possible. The amount of effort and resources needed to implement this is far from the massive endeavor you are portraying it as. They can start with ps4 games and then decide to move on from there and keep supporting the project.

Ah yes the resources can be better spent on making bare bones remasters which can be sold to the consumer at crazy prices. The last of us2 remaster and the plethora of other remasters are definitely better use of those resources.

No, you see, it runs worse on ps5 compared to ps4- that's the part you're misunderstanding.

It looks even worse than it does on PS4.

That's all.

I wasn't saying anything more than that, simply that it's already an ugly mess.
