D'oh!
Looks too goofy in 3D.

Gameplay looks like SF. :)

Graphics still look somewhat early but they have plenty of time to clean things up and so on.

Hell yeah. :D

I can see that it still needs to be polished and tweaked and refined (at least in terms of models and animation) but it's really encouraging to see it running like that, I'm officially keeping my eye on it

I am pretty excited that they made it a little more casual friendly. I always liked the idea of fighting games, but whenever I tried to play them I realize I don't have the patience or willpower to learn the moves and timings. This seems a lot more noob-friendly, while retaining its depth.

As for the graphics, I am really not so sure. It looked kind of...odd. It does still behave and move like Street Fighter, but the art style is a little to weird. I don't think it translates too well into 3D. The game is trying to go for a cartoon look, but it looks like a failed attempt at realistic.

Maybe it is just me though. I am still excited to see how this pans out.

Really? I didn't know he did, or at least, enough to follow someone speaking it at a pace like that.

I don't think he's fluent, but he can recognize words and phrases. also, it's a hard impulse to suppress when interviewing or talking with somebody -- you want to appear as if you're paying attention and being polite.

1 hour left. Based on the screens on GAF, I want to kill someone.

hmm, i like it, video looks good, if you can sit through the boring 1up chatter, animation and effects are top notch, certainly is street fighter through and through

id buy it on XBLA, retail, i'll pass

we had already been told that those models are nothing but blocks right now...
EGM pg 69 -- "We could play as any of the four aforementioned characters"

They mentioned that the other models are rough, but I'd still like to see where they are going with them.

For the most part, I had just assumed that 1Up was going to be holding something new back for the big video unveil...

As much as I love the street fighter series, I am not looking forward to these visuals at all. Why couldn't we get some very nice new HD sprites? 3D isn't needed for fighting games.

I was certaining hoping for Dhalsim and Chun-Li, considering they've been confirmed as in the game and playable.

WTF?! It's the same 2% build from when Shane interviewed Ono. We all knew that it'll be the Ken Vs Ryu footage. Well, except for you...

At this stage Chun is bare bones polygons and Dalshim lacks moves they were not ready to be shown, Ryu and Ken were.

The real question, can you 2 in 1 fireballs from low roundhouse????

Anyways, looks pretty good to me. It moves good and the animation seems snappy, which I like. I just want to play this bad boy.

I was kind of hoping that characters in motion wouldn't look as disgusting as the pictures. They just look damn weird and odd but I cant fucking wait.

Sooo sounds like a lot of crow is being served. Where's that junior pissant from the SFIV EGM hype thread that said '2D gameplay using 3D models is unpossible! Literally can't be done. Teh tech is from the future and doesn't exist yet.' Or something along those lines.

I never got why it should be impossible, the animations are mirrored for characters facing left, like in a 2D game, so nobody stands with their back to the camera like they do in SF EX.

Still haven't seen footage, but one of the mods should change the thread the title, or at least remove the question mark, as it is confirmed that the SFIV footage has landed.

Looks hideous artistically, and the models don't exude the same 2Dness of that Battle Fantasia game that Dali was pimping.
Yeah, the art style is a definitely different, shall we say? The characters look more like Marcus Fenix than Street Fighter. The big, bulky look makes them look goofy and alot more like cartoons. Judging by their size in terms of scale, Zangief will be enormous. Perhaps this is an effort to market it more towards the Western market? Though I don't see why they would need to do that.

IT LOOKS GREAT!!!

IT MOVES GREAT!!!!

It is as it should be. Can't wait to see more characters.

EDIT: And the backgrounds are beautiful.

You've got to be shitting me. The animation is jerky as fuck. It might not be unpossible, but this isn't an example of it unbeing so.

to me the game play looks like a mix of 3s and SF2 so I think this game will please a lot of people. Ryu looks fine, I think Ken needs a little refinement..

Dude, it looks fine. Quit bitching..Hit detection looks like its on point, the hit themselves look like they have some weight too them, dosent look floaty like 3d fighters.

That's the point. The junior was saying some really idiotic stuff, but it didn't seem like it was just to incite a reaction. Rather he actually believed the idiocy he was typing.

I'm still waiting for my d/l to complete, but without me seeing the video I can say

1)The game is very early (only two textured characters and one level, no telling how incomplete Ken and Ryu are)
2)Apparently the game has been sped up, so what you see may not be actual game speed, hence some of the jerkiness

Wow, definably one of those games that looks a lot, lot better when in motion than in stills. Considering how early in development it is at the moment it looks like it moves just like a proper Street Fighter game should. Any fears about it being anything like the EX series can lay their fears to rest, by the looks of things. I also like the slightly more casual approach because for how much I loved 3rd Strike (favorite in the series), I have never been able to get really good at any of the advanced stuff. I'm excited for this, although I do hope they treak the art style a little..

shane knows some japanese.

That would be quite a lot of Japanese to know! :D

Still, it's polite to nod along or say "yes yes" even if you have no idea what is being said. I think in Japanese a lot of interviewers have some kind of syllabic gesture they say that assures the speaker they are following.

Remember folks, this game is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay early. I'm sure it'll look tonnes better later down the line.

Ona-san (I think) said it was probably 2% complete in his EGM interview

They said that about Killzone.

It was said about a whole shitload of semi promising games that looked like shit in development and they all ended up looking like shit in the end too.

I still haven't seen it in motion, just shots of the ugly looking simian-esque Ryu.

It looks very, very early. I personally think it looks much too early to even show but oh well. That's all from me. Looks much too early and they should have waited to show it off.

he's not kidding you... it looks great, especially for being so early on. I'm also really digging the cancel/ feint system they have added.

Looks pretty awesome in motion. It's fast and fluent. The few combos we see totally look like something from the old SF games just with 3D graphics.

My only complain so far is that some of the facial expressions look really goofy but it's still early in development so who knows what will happen.

Gameplay looks better than I expected. Very SF-ish. I think the character models are pretty horrific, but this isn't something thats going to stop me from picking it up.

Except this one looks incredible, period.

And btw I haven't been into Street Fighter since Street Fighter II, and now I WANT BACK IN.

am I the only one who is glad it dosent look like some anime or something?
what do you mean...? I'm simply glad that the hit detection looks like street fighter and that they seem to have taken the good ideas from SF3 and molded it into a sf2 type game.

You mean like Alpha/Zero? I actually liked that style the most. It would have been cool to see those character designs instead, but you take what you get.

I pretty much agree. Make it as easy as a wrestling game in terms of learning moves but with wayyy more depth and strategy.

So far the animation does seem jerky, but this is a work in progress.Hopefully the animation gets fixed up dramatically along with the character rigs being fixed.

After seeing how big Ryu and Ken are, and hearing about Dhalsim being fairly average instead of the skinny ass that he was, I'm REALLY interested in seeing the Chun-Li model :D. Thigh size more than anything.

Ok, seen the footage, don't know what to think. This has got to grow on me, I guess, but I'm certainly not writing SFIV off.

I didn't like the voices though, were they the definitive versions?
