You could just feel the power coming out the TV on some of those shots. Jeez.

Edit: Federer being so renowned to get his first serve in on the big points....blows it twcie.

why is the stream quality in HD sometimes and other times its like all pixelated and just terrible quality that you can't even see the ball ? :[

So much crow to be eaten in this thread if Fed wins the whole thing.
Only if the final is Fed/Murray then yeah Fed wins. No way he beats Nadal. All those "close" 5 setters where Fed was a point here or there from beating Nadal was mental. He's got no confidence that he can beat Nadal.

He's beaten him before, so I don't see why he can't do it again.

And Fed breaks serve!!!

My prediction: If Fed holds his serve here he takes the match.

(btw...pass the salt, 'cause I'll happily eat crow. Fed is doing MUCH better than I thought possible this Open...)

As has been pointed out, the last "big" match where Federer beat Nadal was 2007 Wimbledon. I would LOVE to see Federer win this thing, but I can't see him suddenly putting all those past defeats behind him and beating Rafa. I actually dread a Nadal / Federer final. He has his number.

Yeah, over four years ago..
Since then the only GS hardcourt surface Nadal beat him on was Australian Open, in a tough five setter (the one where Federer broke down crying)

Yeah great memory there. "The last hardcourt slam against Rafa I cried"

Great reasoning, so Federer almost beats Nadal on his favourite surface, where he's virtually untouchable, but he's got no chance to beat him on hardcourt. Please.

Losing in 4 sets is *almost* beating him?

Not to mention that Nadal wasnt even at his best at the French this year. He looked shaky in a couple of matches and still beat Fed in 4.

I think he had a respectable showing, but "almost beat him" is pushing it.

Fed's backhand is a liability. It seems like if he hits it with top spin, he can only hit it right back to Djoko, he never hits cross court with it...

Fucking commentators suck. Hes reading off a list of people tuning in from around the world and hes acting soooooo surprised at whos tuning in. STFU.

While Nadal can get a little bit into Federer's head, I don't think Nadal has his number on hardcourt. Their H2H on hardcourt is 4-4. Also, the "Federer hasn't beaten Nadal in a big match over four years" is a slightly misleading argument. They've only played each other in Grand Slams four times from 2008 on, twice on clay (where Nadal *does* have Federer's number). The other two were, as noted, close five setters which could have gone either way. So I think Federer has a decent chance.

That is, if he and Nadal get through to the final. Which is far from certain at this point.

I do think Federer will at least win one more Grand Slam (even if he loses this US Open). I don't think Nadal will catch Federer but will come close (he'll probably catch Sampras). Djokovic will give Nadal troubles for the rest of his career. I see Djokovic only getting better. I'm not sure how much Nadal can improve anymore. And competition as a whole is getting stronger too. Of course health factors will also matter, you never know what can happen.

You do realize he lost the fourth set 6-1 right?

Fed led 5-2 in the first set, had a set point in the next game and his dropshot was just a couple of inches away from winning that first set. Not to mention he couldn't serve it out aswell.
