Djokovic better win tomorrow (aka I hope he wins). He's going to have to come out of the gate EARLY and sharp, going for his shots. There's been an awful trend in his last 2 matches were he lets his opponent dictate play. I don't know if Djokovic is taking an "I want to play more like Murray" approach but he's doing a horrible job. I don't know whether it's nerves or a lack of belief but his game has left a LOT to be desired.

But if I were to put my bias aside and just want to see a high-quality match, I'd love to see Dubai Djokovic vs. Roland Garros Federer. Both men in their respective matches were superb. Actually, Fed was just a serve machine at RG. In Dubai, Djokovic was sublime in ALL departments.

As for the winner, my brain says Federer in 4 but Djokovic has turned it up 3 out of the 4 times they've played this year.

With Murray-Nadal.....I see Nadal pulling through. That is unless Murray plays Nadal like he did in Australia last year. If that's the case, Murray can win in 3 quick sets. Otherwise, Nadal in 3 or 4.

ANYTHING but a Fedal final >_<
 
I just recently started following tennis more closely, so I've never seen Roddick play in his 'prime', but I have to ask. Has he always been this lazy? I feel like he just gives up too easily. Also, when he changes direction, he looks soooooo slow!
 
Roddick in his prime was a good player. He got into a lot of Major finals but the only problem was that his opponent for most of those finals was Roger Federer.

This was when Fed was in God mode constantly. So basically Roddick was Federers bitch in the Slam finals. I dont think Roddicks confidence ever recovered.

Roddick has been in 5 Slam finals. He won 1 of them and lost the other 4. His opponent for all his losses was Federer.

I agree with pretty much all of this.

I don't, however, see Murray being able to beat Nadal--Nadal's just been playing way too good these past two matches. In perfect condition and focused enough to completely destroy Roddick.

I think we saw Murray's current ceiling in the Isner match. Nadal played beautifully against Roddick, and looked like he could have turned the heat up even higher if Roddick had been more of a challenge....

In my opinion, Roddick is an example of a player not evolving with the sport. He was a good player, but even in his prime I don't see how he could have competed at the level the top 10 is playing at these days. At least not consistently.

And he's kinda always moved like a lumberjack. No grace at all.

In a nutshell, he got a taste of glory, rested on his laurels, and didn't evolve his game. I predict the same fate for Petra Kvitova, actually.
 
When Roddick played Federer in the Wimbledon finals in 2009, he played an awesome game. He did everything one could expect even altering his game, yet in the end Federer won that game (Roddick definitely did not choke in that game unless you consider his break of serve in the 77th game of the 77 game final to be "choking" -- if so, that's way too harsh!). Prior to that match, Roddick had gutted out a victory over Murray which was quite an accomplishment considering his losing record vs. Murray at the time (I think it was something like 2-6) and the fact that all of England was rooting for Murray. Watching Roddick's loss against Federer I felt crushed for Roddick, and can only imagine the frustration Roddick had felt at that time (which was also clearly visible by his expression and in his voice in his post game interview). I think some speculated that even though Roddick lost the game, he had found the next gear in his game and that his effort would propel him further, but it seems that instead it took its toll. Ah well, he's still a very good player, but I doubt he'll ever win another grand slam final with Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, etc still around (but I hope somehow he does).
 
Bopanna/Qureshi out in semi finals. Damn, only loss I truly cared for. Literally glued my face to the Android app checking the livescore. Too bad, hope they get a slam or two down the road anyway

if he gets to frustrated it's all over. watch AO07 Federer beating for a similar pattern than yesterday

if he's playing well he can be quite the opponent check Wimby09 finals to see a fighting roddick.

he was never the ultra fast guy but 2 years ago he lost quite some weight to be quicker (but having a less good serve) now he's back to being slow again but the serve didn't come back.
 
Just came back from an absolutely gruesome match, legs are DEAD. Luckily I got all the junk food I need. Better not disappoint Roger

This Fed match is easily a 50/50 case, and if Fed manages to win, there is no way Nadal will just run over him.
 
My friend just bet me 50 bucks Federer will pull off another successful tweener

i live possibly 5 minutes from Flushing Meadow and there's no hint of rain here. that must be one hell of a tiny raincloud.

I love Federer but sadly he's Nadal's bitch now. Nadal will run over him if he manages to make the finals.

At RG he was basically only a couple of huge points away from taking that final.
On clay...against Rafa, this year. Don't be so sure.

You're not making a strong case for Fed beating Nadal. When was the last time Fed beat Nadal in a slam? 2008?? I can't even remember.

I believe it was the 2007 Wimbledon final. Holy crap.

Wait, I didn't say he'd beat him, I said he would not get run over.
Still, I believe he's got a good chance.

Last time he beat him, it was the '07 Wimbledon final lol. After that, they played 4 more times in a GS. Rafa absolutely murdered him in '08 at the RG final.
But after that....look it up. Twice, they played a 5 setter, and more recently an epic 4 setter in the RG final. Which, if it wasn't for a couple of huge points, could've gone to Roger's favour. He arguably played his best claycourt tennis ever there.

Roddick has never been a great mover, he's probably the slowest guy in the top 25, and when movement is one of the ultimate weapons in the game, you just simply can't be slow out there.
