Now I've seen all three shows it's an obvious win for MS, Sunset Overdrive looked like the best thing ever, can't wait to play Halo 2 online again and Crackdown was the only game all E3 that got me out of my seat.

Only negatives were no Banjo, Perfect Dark or indeed anything from Rare.

Got a chance to watch. The focus on games is encouraging. Pure focus on 100% games is how an E3 presser should be done. Take note, Sony. That said, I saw absolutely nothing that made me want an Xbone. When the nice multiplat games were shown, all I could think about was how awesome they will be on PS4.

In the embrace of a wind hug.
I feel Microsoft showed things that are too far off. Crackdown, Platinum Games New IP and Phantom Dust didn't even have a basic 2015 date in their trailers. I am guessing those games are 2016. At least Sony has BloodBourne as a 2015 spring release. Uncharted 4 slated for 2015 and Ratchet and Clank slated for 2015 with the movie. I like that both LittleBigPlanet 3 and Forza Horizon 2 got announced and releasing in the same year.
I don't think so. Just look at this E3. Microsoft had Dance Central, the Master Chief collection and Forza Horizons 2 ready for a 2014 launch without discussing them until this E3. Expecting two or three new titles to be revealed in the same E3 each year may be too much but I don't think you can count them out completely.

2015 looks like Halo 5, Fable Legends, Quantum Break, plus other unannounced titles.

We don't know what Rare is up to (if anything). We haven't seen what Undead Labs has in store for State of Decay. We don't know what Twisted Pixel or Press Play are doing. We've heard rumors of Ruffian Games working with Microsoft.

The point is, when comparing Sony to Microsoft, it's easy to look at all the studios that Sony owns and compare them to the studios that Microsoft owns and see which is working on what. We don't know the breadth of agreements that Sony or Microsoft has with independent developers (not talking indie games here), so it's hard to make a true apples to apples comparison of what Sony and Microsoft really have in the oven.

Nintendo and MS conferences were both really good. I liked the charm Nintendo had on display, but I'm most excited about the games on Xbox.

Microsoft had a great lineup. I'm most excited by Sunset Overdrive, Dance Central, Halo MCC, Ori and Blind Forest, Inside, Crackdown, Scalebound, and Cuphead. Cool to see continued development of Project Spark (I still think it needs to be more user friendly) and I like that they're bringing back Phantom Dust (it's just not for me).

MS could have knocked it out of the park with the addition of a Rare game (Conker, Viva, Battletoads, or Banjo), a 1 vs 100-like game, and a JRPG.

Really hoping the outcry of the Conker skin for Project Spark got through Rare's stubborn head and they get a team on it stat. I'd settle for a HD remaster with multiplayer on dedicated servers as a good start. I expect Rare and/or Chris Seavor to be involved in some original levels for Project Spark at the very least.

Fable is a good looking game. I know its UE4 but, damn that looks nice! IGN showing off some gameplay. A bit more Diablo than normal Fable.

It really does look impressive, the gameplay itself doesn't look so hot and I'm not liking what I'm hearing about the game's focus/direction.

Someone was asking earlier, it has a single player mode but you'll be forced to buddy with three companion AI. It seems the core game is what we saw at E3. Someone plays the villain and four players fight through 'arenas' or hubs.

Yeah, according to the IGN footage, it will be Episodic. First season is said to have 15 Episodes. Based around a central hub and you travel out to do the story stuff. The player the evil guy Vs sounds interesting but I wonder how the balance will work out. Would be more interesting to see more humans and more evil players to really mix things up. :D

The episodic stuff really threw me. Don't like the sound of that all if it all revolves around you having to fight through hordes of enemies to reach the villain.

Just give me a proper Fable. Please.

I'm not sure how I feel about it either. It's a beautiful game, but the gameplay looks pretty boring. I'm hoping each character has a specific role and lots of abilities and customization, but I'm getting worried based on the gameplay we've seen. If it's just a button masher without an aggro table like Guild Wars 2's PvE I'll be very upset. At least the guy interviewed on IGN was a big Everquest fan, so maybe there is hope.

Also, we know we're getting 15 episodes at launch each at about 30 minutes, so does that mean the game will only have 7-8 hours of gameplay? Maybe with the main hub having side activities and also each episode having multiple difficulty levels then the loot grind won't feel so bad?

I'm glad we'll get to try a beta before buying into the game for sure.

If they use UE4 to make a real Fable...I will be all over it.

I do like this direction but its not the Fable I wanted. Hopefully we get some more footage of how the game actually progresses. They mentioned it was like a TV series, so are we to expect story setup, then gameplay and then story outro?

Totally forgot there was a beta in the works. I'll definitely check it out, but right now I'm not sold on this at all. I think you hit the nail on the head, the gameplay does look very boring.

I didn't want to say it as it's hard to say that without actually playing it, but the main takeaway from both demos now is that it's all so boring. It's Fable Heroes given a AAA budget. Not at all what I wanted from Fable and I certainly hope this isn't the future of the series.

I could see that being the case. Outro will probably the villain escaping from his/her castle or whatever and you're thrown back into the hub-world.

That was live only, or is there anywhere I can watch?

Finally got around to watching the whole show. Kudos to MS for bringing only games and leaving the bullshit in 2013. Phil Spencer is doing an amazing job. If I was an Xbone owner I would feel way more comfortable with the system after this pc. As someone without an Xbone however, the show also didn't do enough to convince me. The multiplats simply will have the superior version on the PS4 and what is left is not enough for me, especially since they showed what they got way into 2016 and possibly even farther.

Notable stuff:
- Sunset Overdrive looks fantastic
- Scalebound has soooo much potential, love Platinum
- Fable Legends actually looked decent

I thought the conferences were even until Sony had the new guy talking about crap for 30 minutes and then the tv show for another 10. Also not showing Uncharted gameplay, just another teaser was a let down.

MS had a really good show. I think the MC collection was more than everybody was expecting. Wish they showed a tech demo of Halo 5 but a beta this winter is awesome. THey had a better show.

Thanks for posting. Kind of funny that he says Halo 3 looked good... it didn't (imo)
Halo 3 suffered from its rendering resolution. It was just really low, resulting in a bad IQ. With rendering in native 1080p/60fps, this won't be a problem anymore and the game will probably look solid, because the effects etc. all looked nice anyway.

Btw I expect that Halo 4 rendered in native 1080p/60fps will probably look better than some "next-gen" games.

Fable Legends, Halo 5, Quantum Break already announced for 2015 is great. Forza 6 is a surefire bet, and Rare should have a project ready.

So huh, I feel kinda weird taking this decision, since I never owned an OG Xbox nor a 360 (didn't even care for them tbh) but this gen I'm making a change, after seeing MS conference and seeing some of what they got to offer I'm totally choosing the Xbox One as my secondary console (which could always turn into my primary down the line, who knows :p). I'm a big fan of Insomniac and Platinum so that really helped too!

I'll totally get it the day NHL 15 comes out, since that was the game that motivated me the most for making me consider getting either a XB1 or a PS4. See you soon guys!

So far, here are some of the leaks that are confirmed by E3:
  • Forza Horizon 2 is confirmed & will be released at September 30th, 2014
  • Sunset Overdrive is confirmed & will be released on October 28th, 2014
  • Halo 2 Anniversary is a go & part of the Master Chief Collection, due out November 11th, 2014, with access to Halo 5 Multiplayer Beta
  • Halo 5: Guardians will be released on Fall 2015
And with the previously announced 26 new markets that will get Xbox One are:
September 2014
  • Argentina
  • Belgium
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong**
  • Hungary
  • India
  • Israel
  • Japan
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • People's Republic of China*
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • South Africa
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan**
  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates
*Announced after the Chinese government lifted ban on console sales.
**Announced at E3 2014

But this begs the question: What about the other 2 countries? Here's the countries that are not included in the official announcement:
  • Egypt
  • Indonesia
Is it possible that they would be announced later at October 2014? Like the July announcement, while the leak said they were supposed to be launched in those markets in July?

Final thoughts on E3 2014 by Phil Spencer

http://news.xbox.com/2014/06/events-e3-letter-from-phil

As we wrap up this E3, I thought I’d share a few quick thoughts on the week. It’s always one of my favorite weeks of the year and this E3 was incredibly special. We saw amazing games from innovative creators, developed for Xbox, Sony and Nintendo. Some people have asked who “won” this week and the answer is simple – the gamers. It’s wonderful to see our industry healthy and delivering what we all want – great games.

Thank you to all who watched our briefing, visited us at the booth, or read about the great games coming to Xbox One. The team worked very hard to create a show worthy of Xbox exclusives like Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Fable Legends and Ori and the Blind Forest as well as the pipeline of creative independent titles coming through ID@Xbox and blockbusters such as Assassin’s Creed Unity, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny, Evolve and Rise of the Tomb Raider. In many ways, our entire presence at E3 was built to showcase the incredible lineup of games coming to Xbox this year. With nine exclusive titles, and exclusive content for many more games, we believe Xbox One will be the best place to play this holiday. You can see the full list of titles here.

As we look ahead, our team is laser focused on delivering the best line-up of exclusive games and continuously working to deliver new features and improvements to Xbox One. As always, we look forward to your feedback. Check out Xbox Feedback. It is a new tool that allows you to suggest ideas for Xbox and vote on ideas submitted by others. It’s been really exciting to see over 169,000 votes on the site since it launched earlier this week. As I said at our briefing, Xbox One is being built by you and we are better for it. I can’t wait to hear your ideas.

We’re just getting started on the road to the holidays and look forward to continuing to deliver more games, more product improvements and more entertainment in the coming months.

Thanks,
Phil
