not really. the world record is from an american in the 90s (who might very well have been juiced up), and americans from the 90s and 00s are well represented. there are your typical soviets and east germans, but unlike hammer throw plenty of modern putters make the list.
his age has nothing to do with the fact that his personal best might get him silver here at most.

You just don't get it do you?Olympics finals have nothing to do with personal bests,world records etc.Every single gold medalist from the past 6-7 olympics games won with a shot under 22m.Are they all lucky and fortunate?

we don't call it athletics because we feel, and rightly so, that all Olympic events are "athletics". (except maybe horse dressage)
So we call it track and field.

I like fencing over taekwondo and boxing combined. Fencing got more fundamentals and stuff.

But what does punching and kicking have to do with respect and decorum? MMA and UFC isn't a wild free for all of brutish animals. Even Brazilian MMAers are very polite. The problem as people point out is how incredibly rude and aggressive Brazilian spectators are. This is unheard of Behavior at the Olympics. No one should be proud of what the audience was doing during men's gymnastics. They psychologically ruined this guy's routine and made him break down on the podium.
