Buying one of these right now is like making a $20 bet Nintendo doesn't introduce a revised 3DS with the second stick built in. Except you're not making the bet against anyone, so if you're right, you don't win anything.
So, what does it mean that I'm buying a 3DS on Sunday?Buying one of these right now is like making a $20 bet Nintendo doesn't introduce a revised 3DS with the second stick built in. Except you're not making the bet against anyone, so if you're right, you don't win anything.

But it's so comfy compared to the stock 3DS. It's a win/win situation.Buying one of these right now is like making a $20 bet Nintendo doesn't introduce a revised 3DS with the second stick built in. Except you're not making the bet against anyone, so if you're right, you don't win anything.
I had it for free with Resident Evil Revelations. I just used it for Resident Evil... and now, it's in his box. I doesn't used it again, even with RE:R.
I thought it was worthless for RE:R, but I'm glad I had it for Snake Eater.
Depends on how else it's redesigned. A better shape for D-Pad use alone would make it worthwhile to me.But if you already own a 3DS, it makes more sense to spend $20 on a Circle Pad Pro than to spend $170 on another new 3DS.

Does Kid Icarus support it?

What a lot of people forget about a 3DS redesign is that if they were going to go the extra circle pad route, they'd also have to have two extra triggers too. This would mean that the 3DS wasn't pocket sized any more.
I'm five hours in to Revelations and haven't used the CPP; and the game controls fine for me. Capcom did a good job, because everything about the game is just fluid, including the controls. Unless Nintendo starts making games that force the use of the CPP, I probably won't purchase one.
Good. Making the system so small resulted in it being uncomfortable for a lot of people to hold.

Throw it out, duh!
I'll get one when Capcom confirms MH3G for North America.

Yep.
I kind of wanted to take the bet against Stump (I think it was him) but then I realized it's not even worth it.
But if nothing else, the first 3DS redesign will not have two pads, for the reason you list and also because it's only valuable to all of two genres. You don't split your userbase over something so trivial.

It's valuable to any 3D game that has a controllable camera.
Imagine the next 360 or PS3 shipping with a controller with only one analogue stick. Totally unthinkable, isn't it?Not racers, puzzlers, fighting games, RPGs, SRPGs, 2D action/adventure games, sports games, shmups, RTSs, point-and-click adventures, simulations, sidescrolling platformers, and a ton of other game types.
Essentially it's for first person shooters and 3D action/adventure games.
And even then, you say it's "valuable" but lots of people above are saying they didn't even need it for games it was made for.
Completely not worth Nintendo's effort, and definitely not worth splitting the userbase.
Why would they HAVE to add extra triggers? If Nintendo only includes a second analog stick devs would simply not use the extra triggers of the Circle Pad.
Because then what was the point of putting them on the CPP in the first place? Plus it, means that you'll still need something extra to play the CPP games, so they might as well just leave it out again and make the battery bigger.
How many analogue sticks does your iPhone feature?Imagine the next 360 or PS3 shipping with a controller with only one analogue stick. Totally unthinkable, isn't it?
The second stick is valuable. I wasn't aware this was even open for debate until now.

Does it matter? Still doesn't prevent them from simply adding a second analog stick.
Granted, it would be weird for someone with the revisioned 3DS being unable to use the second analog stick in RER. Even if the "3DS Lite" was still compatible with the CCP it would be a little weird, but not a dealbreaker since there aren't even that many games taking advantage of it.
So, a little convoluted? Maybe, but not a dealbreaker as long as there are no games exclusively made to work with the CCP.

I wasn't saying anything about a revision, I was disagreeing with the premise that a second analogue stick is only useful for two genres. It's unthinkable because of their back catalog of games that would become unplayable due to prior reliance on it. Losing the analog sticks in their case would also be splitting the userbase, and just as bad.
You don't add controls to a handheld mid-generation without marginalizing those who already purchased the device. It's simply a bad decision and I wasn't aware that was open for debate.

It still wouldn't be standard, so there isn't really a point.
Again, why add the triggers just to remove them later?
Well that's kind of the subject of this thread. The (valid) assumption is that your posts tie back in to that subject, with an implied "...and that's why the 3DS's revision should feature dual analog." If not, please communicate better.
And as I said earlier, people in this thread stated that even the games that dual analog was designed for do not need it.
