If being "famous" or "special" on the Internet is your goal, more power to you, but why go out of your way to embarrass yourself for such a tiny thing as though it's a badge of honour? I remember when I had a thread backfire on me, I really did start to worry that I'd get an embarrassing tag on account of it. Luckily though, it wasn't as bad as all that and the thread died a quiet death.

This is true I suppose. I did make a few really long posts refuting him in the past... and then he PM'd me explaining that he was joking. Very subtle and even had EviLore fooled in this very thread.

Until recently the requirement was 150 posts or 150 days since registration. A while back I changed it to 200 posts *and* 60 days since registration, so those times are over.

And tags are GAF's badge of honour, even if they're negative. Distinguishing yourself from the others etc. If you hang around on GAF for a while, you're almost guaranteed to get one... or a ban.

GAFers tend to be distrustful of junior members as they are an unknown quantity. A great many are insane fanboys who have come to GAF from other forums and most get permabanned for trying to pull shennanigans they do elsewhere that simply won't fly here.

Some junior members are regular members who were punished for one reason or another with permanent junior status. See: Greatness Gone. Again, this adds to the distrust.

Don't worry though. Keep your nose clean, don't troll or get involved in system warz and you'll be fine.

Being a Junior can also mean a mod took away your thread posting privileges, meaning you can only reply on created threads and not make new ones. Maybe that was the case with you, but there's always a reason behind it and people usually notice.

A good deal of those who tend to be moronically distrustful are the people who actually care how long they've been posting here, though. It's an odd kind of superiority to hold over other members.

The funniest cases are when you get people calling out juniors who've only been here 2 months less than them. Crazy shit.

Don't fret too much over this man. I don't know how long you've been reading thesse forums, but GAF is almost like a IRC channel due to how fast stuff is posted, and since there are all kinds of people from all around the world here 24/7 there will be annoying and stupid people, but there are also very nice and intelligent members, and that's what's keeps me coming back. More than once I found myself rolling my eyes to the back of my head reading certain threads, and getting involved in the discussion trying to set things straight or to clarify some points made me had headaches.

In the end I try to not pay much attention to the stupid posts from people who act high and mighty (those are worse than trolls to me to tell the truth), and when I notice I'm getting too "internet: serious business" I even stay away from the place for a while. I don't think I could stop coming here at all though, believe me, I tried. :lol
