7 Ways to Play Destiny 2 Solo

XBOX DGAF is almost non-existent and most of 'the clique' plays on PS4.

People moved to PS4 because most of the people they played with quit destiny. The larger install base was on PS4 so only makes sense to play on the console with the most players to play with.

I started out on xbox and moved over to PS4 because xbox was drier than the mojave desert. Also what is this clique you speak of?

I thought it was clear after the first game Destiny isn't good for anybody. I guess the players that pretended it was good all this time will finally be redeemed... by purchasing a sequel that seems to have been made properly.

Most Destiny players must have had da Vinci levels of imagination if we pretended for this long...

if anyone thinks that they can play Destiny 2 solo, you are wrong, so wrong

if you don't have anyone to play with, and think the community will help you, you are also wrong, especially in Raids

but luckily there is an LFG, which really helps a lot to find players, even though sometimes they will have some annoying requirements like " you must have a certain exotic weapon to play with us"

if you love to play solo and don't want to play with a group, Destiny is not for you

Destiny community is probably one of the worst communities i have ever dealt with

Lol. Literally everything you said is wrong. Joke post?

I hated online gaming until played Destiny with DGAF. Now i've made some friends although thousand of miles apart, feel like true buddies we hangout with all over the weekends or Twitch chats.

Destiny community and for me DGAF in particular is totally the opposite to what you have just said.

hi random passerby, if you are in this thread because you just feel a deep compelling urge within your bones to buy Destiny 2 and you can just feel it's gonna happen no matter what you hear, please come chill with DGAF. :)

I remember I just posted in there that I was bummed that I wasn't able to finish King's Fall opening weekend. I had gotten stuck on Oryx for hours and tried with different teams but couldn't finish it. DGAF made a group for me without me asking just so I could finish that fight and get the clear before the weekly reset.
I had to go look this up. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=180314250#post180314250 :>

looks like fig and bogeypop were in that group, very cool stuff

You do know that Bungie reworked the sequel to be more friendly to solo players, right? If you take 10min to do the research, you will find out that your statement isn't accurate.

Guys please stop falling for xviper and his shtick. He's derailed other threads before. Now I don't know if he's joking or not but either way it backfired as usual.

Spoken like a true destiny 1 player. Grouping up with randoms for raids was the worst.

Funny, looking at my stats from D1, most of my time in Destiny was patrols, story, and PVP - almost all of which was done solo. So, hmmmm... and Destiny 2 is adding more to patrols and story modes? PVP might be less solo friendly this time around with the 4v4 change though.

if you don't have anyone to play with, and think the community will help you, you are also wrong, especially in Raids

Yeah, uh... about that. When my original vanilla clan fell apart, Destiny LFG and the "community" helped, a lot. I didn't even call on Destiny GAF but there were capped threads here regularly for anyone looking for help. And now Destiny 2 is adding guided games mode and in game clan stuff to make in game help easier.

but luckily there is an LFG, which really helps a lot to find players, even though sometimes they will have some annoying requirements like " you must have a certain exotic weapon to play with us"

Did you quit playing before year 2? Because this sure sounds like you did. Yeah, there was a period of time where Destiny LFG was pretty shitty about people having Gjallarhorn. But that went away in year 2. It could have come back with Touch of Malice but didn't. Even though I had a new clan by King's Fall, on Destiny LFG and the Crossroads app, I rarely saw people demanding people have Touch of Malice for future King's Fall raids or Outbreak Prime for Wrath of the Machine. Bungie learned from their mistake with Gjallarhorn and adjusted accordingly. As did the community at large.

if you love to play solo and don't want to play with a group, Destiny is not for you

Welp, sorry. My clan blew up about 8 months ago so I'm going into Destiny 2 likely playing solo most of the time. And I'll have tons of fun. Just as I had tons of fun playing WoW solo after getting tired of my hardcore raiding days. I'll eventually find a new clan and maybe even participate in DGAF this time around. Destiny is very much "for" me.

Destiny community is probably one of the worst communities i have ever dealt with

Guessing you didn't interact with it much beyond the first few months of the original game. And honestly, worst community? Yep, there's some shitty toxic people in the Destiny community but nowhere near as many as other online games. Destiny's online community is positively TAME compared to most long-running MMO communities.

+1 for DGaf being the best community ever. Way back in the early days I remember opening the door to the vault with a team of 5, when an underleveled blueberry jumped on a plate to help. IRawr invited him to the chat, and asked him if he wanted to come along. He did, and it was so awesome to help some random guy get great gear.

That was the first awesome "community" thing I was a part of, and there have probably been a hundred since then. If anyone has any doubts, I can go on and on and on.

Hey, I played with you and other DGAF members in year 1! Had a great time, too. I ended up quitting Destiny soon after Taken King as I was disappointed with what Bungie was doing, but the DGAF community is amazing.

As I'm on Xbox now, I'm definitely thinking of picking it up there. Always down to play with new people. I played with Dads of Destiny on PS4, so it'd be nice to get a chill group going sometimes.

Feel free to add me on Xbox. Always down to do whatever, even if Ive already done it.

there's ways to play destiny 2 solo? lol...I just basically explore everything and invite few friends if I need to

Yep. I have probably 250+ friends on psn from the gaf community. People burn out, and come and go (myself included)... but every time I feel like playing there is someone ready to go. I have NEVER felt unwanted in a group even though I'm a very average (below average pvp) player, and a lot of times there is at least one person on the fireteam that I've never played with. It's a great way to make more friends.

Playing Destiny solo must be a miserable experience.
I played solo u decent amount in D1, and it's actually pretty good. I used to throw a podcast on and go into the strike playlist and play it for hours or do bounties or casual PVP solo fairly often.

Guys, I'd love to introduce you to a community. Ironically enough, it's in the COMMUNITY section of GAF. You may have heard of it, but just in case, there were 44 OTs. THOUSANDS of posts. People helping people through all this content. Noobie raids. Blind raids. Inebriated raids. Flawless raids. Nightfall help. Sword help. Outbreak Prime help. Heck, even life help. We even had our own glorified Bat signal.
RIP Drizzay.
LUKE AND URK (you know, those guys from Bungie?) read the community section.

We are DGAF. We are actually here to help. If by some chance you're blissfully ignorant, I invite you to the community that you didn't know existed. Come on in, the water's fine. :)
Are you guys starting over for D2? I used to post quite often in it, especially during the alpha/beta/first few launch threads and then ring TTK and ROI launch, but haven't followed it closely since then. I remember there being soon beef between some posters - which it sounds like some of it moved to your discord channel(s), I'm just hoping all the hate/beef won't be there next week.

This is silly and way overstated as I've played Destiny on Xbox One since September 9, 2014 and never had an issue with finding players for any activity throughout it's lifespan.

People are welcome to play the game alone, but there are well over a hundred regulars here who love playing with new people and helping them. Me being one of them. There are so many good folks in this community. The more the merrier.

I believe we are starting over with a new set of OT's. Like any large group, there can be personality conflicts sometimes. It happens. But we keep moving! :)

I'm down for joining (PC) DGAF. I have a couple of friends who will play but not entirely sure how long they will.

Goddam it, why the wait for PC is so long :( Im still debating over buying it for PS4 or PC, It feels Ill be missing out on the discovery with you folks :(

Is it safe as a EU PS4 player to get the Digital Deluxe Super Edition from the US PS store? It's almost 30 euros cheaper on the US store :O

i think it's probably the best comunity on gaf

and, well ... none of them are really solo, they are coop with some kind of matchmaking

Yeah, the GAF community is great. I was only really into the game for a couple months but a team of GAFers took me through King's Fall and it was one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. They were really patient, explained how everything worked, everyone was joking around, it was a ton of fun. I felt horrible at one point because I had stupidly been keeping only one weapon for each slot (so if I had a sniper rifle in my second slot and found a higher-level shotgun, I'd just get rid of the sniper rifle) and I wasn't well equipped to fight one of the mid-bosses. I offered to leave and give someone else my spot because it was clear I wasn't contributing, but they wouldn't have it and we finally made it through.

Of course when I ran the raid again later with randos I found on Reddit it was terrible, but that true of any game.

I'll be a brand new Destiny player jumping into 2. I wont be completely alone because one of my closest friends and my brother are getting it too, but I have no doubt that DGAF will help me out when I have questions and whatnot. Honestly any community I've ever tried to be a part of on GAF has been nice to me. Have not had a bad experience in any proper community thread honestly.

DGAF not helpful or a good community? I don't think I've ever read anything more objectively wrong on GAF than this.

How can I be a part of the DGAF community? Every time I've tried communicating and whatnot I'd just get ignored, even asking questions for the weekly raids.

Dude, your alive 😀. You have been hidding lately.

My experince with Dgaf. Just got acepted. Asked if anyone wanted to run the nightfall. 5 minutes, and had 2 gaffers in the fireteam. We had never met before, just talked crap and had fun with the game (you got the best loot ID. I think i did 8 ghosts on 8 nightfals in a row....)

Organising a fireteam to kill atheon during the NTTE quest. Firts time i ever did Vault of glass.

Being carried on kings fall by Dgaf (very first time doing that raid), failing miserably on the jumping puzles. Trying to understand wtf im suposed to do on Orix, and still managing to kill the bastard on hard. (Yes i know, counter clockwise. Shish, give the newbie a break...)

Late night crucible trains both in normal crucible and IB and see if i could kill more than 5 people per game

And yes, many hours playing solo. Sometimes joining with randoms for NF, even when you had donw it already, just ti help a guardian out

As comunities go, Destiny, and DGaf have been amazing

I spent almost all of my time in Destiny 1 playing solo with randoms.

There was a brief period during House of Wolves were my brother and sister were on board and we managed to beat Skolas and 3-manned Crota's End, but other than that, pretty much with randoms.

If 2 is even remotely like 1, you can have a pretty good time with the game if you're like me and just prefer to play with randoms. I know those folks are out there.

It's one of the best podcasts games I've ever played.

I've not done much Destiny raiding (kids yo), but I've done hundreds of strikes, and the community has always been friendly and willing to help you out, provided you at least pay attention and are half competent.

You're wrong :)

I played Destiny pretty much solo and loved it. I would also account for time playing strikes in this because of matchmaking as there is no effort needed to join others. I did some nightfalls but never raid which require you to go out your way to find others.

I will be playing Destiny 2 mostly solo again but hope to do nightfalls/raids more this time around. Bungie understands that not everyone wants to play with others and there will be plenty of solo content. You won't experience the full game for sure but you're basically straight up denying the possibility of playing solo which is wrong.

Tried to see what you've posted before in the DGAF community threads to get an idea of what you've posted that had been ignored, and I couldn't find any posts. So I'm not too sure where you were posting before. Maybe my search skills are ass.

I guess at the most basic, I'd head over to the community thread, find the OT, and look for people asking for players for nightfalls, raids, or whatever, and sign on accordingly. Hawkian also used to run (and I think might again in D2?) weekly newbie raids, that was a good start for a lot of people.

There is also an lfg channel on the DGAF discord, though with the lull between D1 and D2, I haven't been too active there, so not sure what the current state of that is.

If you are looking to spark up something on your own, vague, drive by posts that just read something like "Hey, just got Destiny, my gamertag is x, add me for raids or whatever, thanks" aren't likely to get much traction. Try something specific and for the now, like the Colonel's request for help he linked up thread. "Looking for two more for a nightfall. PSN: x" posted on reset day will probably get some bites.

And generally just post thoughts, answer questions, etc. Make yourself part of the community by interacting with it.

I don't know, been on DGAF since the Alpha back in 2014 and even though I think the Destiny community on the internet by large is the best and most welcoming, I still find DGAF community to be really Cliquey....

How is pc expected to fit into this with destiny 2? Will ps4 still end up being pretty much the only platform where dgaf plays or will pc fair better then Xbox and keep a sizable player count?

Yup, especially combined with the quarter assed matchmaking in Destiny 1 and the half assed match making in destiny 2.

The community and half assed matchmaking are why instead of being excited to play day 1 I might never touch 2.

I spent more time using half assed third party matchmaking sites than I did actually raiding. It was certainly harder than any of the raids.

This game has the biggest community on GAF and you post on GAF, yet you choose to look for people on some random LFG website.

Just wanted to say DGAF is the biggest reason that Destiny is one of my favorite games ever. Amazing community full of helpful and selfless people willing to help and make sure you finished/found/started/killed/won whatever it was you were trying to do. Special shout outs to Hawkian, Kadey1up and Drizzy (RIP) and their respective clan mates. Just some of the many helpful people that frequent DGAF. I'll most certainly be back for D2. (PSN AdamKoy)

Video has me a bit confused.

You still can play through the story with your friends, right?
Yes.
The video is stating that you are 'able' to play all the story missions and patrol solo.
The game is still very much 3 man fireteam story and patrol.

Yes.

Okay, so the sentence was worded weirdly in the video then? Good.

Cause it made it sound like you have to play the story missions solo first, and then you can replay them with a fireteam.

Yes.

The way Bungie talks, the story is more designed to be single-player content. You can play it with friends, of course, but the story content is more solo-focused from a design standpoint.

oh man that woman sounds like she´s never played a video game before, going full in commercial-ad-mode in that video no offense

What? I never had problems finding people to play with even on the 360 during The Taken King. But yes, Destiny GAF on might as well be Destiny PS4 GAF from my time in that thread lol.
