A funny man at a game store

I'm going back to talk to him because I love crazy conspiracies and this guy has great ones. But everyone's calling me out and saying stop messing with the crazy guy. To the people saying not to post this thread because it's useless, this is NeoGAF and I can post my gaming related experiences all I want.

This sounds like half the people I've ever known who play games in New Orleans.

Only one is a Sony fanboy and swings the other way from this guy. I wonder what the psychological basis for this behavior is exactly?

I work at a game store in Australia and I am absolutely ASTOUNDED that somebody is employing this guy to sell games. How has he not been fired yet?

To all the people saying that product knowledge is not needed to work in retail in America...are you being serious?

Makes no sense to me at all.

We have high schoolers who can't read. I mean, I dunno, I live in the South, maybe it's worse here, but I'm willing to bet half the country is like this. All you have to be is a warm body without a prison record and enough brain cells to not kill yourself on the job.

I must admit, I'm thinking this. Ryan Pitchford? PS Vistas? It's too contrived, if he got it wrong, he'd get it more wrong than that.

Either you made this up, or he was winding you up.

He was trying to wind him up sure, but I've known people who act this way all the time. This is 100% believable to me, as scary as that may be.

That's weird. I'm in New Orleans too and with a few exceptions my experience is the exact opposite! I would say it may be an Eastbank/Westbank thing but I've met a bunch of PS fanboys from both sides. I guess it's all about who you know.

Funny :) Also the part where he said that the Xbox 360 has an automatic translator that translate people talking german into english, lol.

Could be, most of my older acquaintances are mid-city, and are in their 30s now. Some old Penny Arcade crew, some from out East when there was still the Plaza and Fun Arcade. There's only one guy I really talk to anymore, but he relays to me all of his arguments with the others. They should know better, but they've been like this since Genesis/SNES days. I don't need to tell you passions run deeper than common sense sometimes down here.

I've gone to tournaments of sorts on the Westbank but I don't really know anyone down there. Mostly young whippersnappers who kick my ass.

Penny Arcade? I used to catch the ferry to play there every day. I remember me and my best friend ditching 4th grade to go to Mardi Gras arcade on Canal because word got out that they had SF2:CE. Got to play one round as Vega before cops came and raided the joint. Good times. Most of my competitive play was at Penny Arcade. The only places on the west bank where you could get some good matches was the arcade in Oakwood mall or at Schwegmann's. Anyway, always nice to find more NOLA-GAF.

Haha, yeah, it was well known even to us sheltered Metry kids that Mardi Gras games had drug deals going on out back. I still have a few of their tokens lying around somewhere.

The lady of the house is gonna get a kick out of hearing that I found her a fellow Mardi Gras games Vega player.

Wow op, nice delivery!

Do you think he was lying for attention? Or as Aiko Heiwa says...because he did seem to really believe it*. Sounds like he needs help..and not from GAF!

*although he was having trouble selling that automatic translator part himself ;)

Film it all and return. I await a goldmine.

US retail just wants you to be a warm body to serve entitled customers, push credit cards without commission, and not fuck up simple tasks. It's minimum wage work.
