I don't recall anything about banana splits. I took a piss in the middle so I must have missed it.

The first
Hit Girl fight at Rahzul's apartment.

reminds me that Vaughn fucking knows EXACTLY how to construct, film and edit a fight scene. Each one was so perfect.

pretty darn fun. nothing spectacular or that i will rush to see again.

adjust expectations accordingly.

Agreed. Fun stuff, but blown out the damn window yet again by GAF.

Favorite scene was
the first fight after his accident that was tossed on youtube.

I loved the mess of the whole thing and his line at the end of it. I was hoping for more of that in the movie. =( Messy heroics that somehow end in victory.

I want a Millar-cut on the Blu-ray where:

- Dave doesn't end up with Katie. Instead she sends him a pic of herself sucking her boyfriend's dick and he jerks off to it while crying.
- Big Daddy is really just a crazy delusional fuck with a comic obsession who twisted and warped his innocent little daughter after his wife left him, and, tied to that.. Hit-Girl does coke on the elevator at the end.
- "Six weeks ago, I was Heroes season one. Now, as far as the 'net was concerned, I was Season fucking Two."

Just give me these 3 things and the movie would be perfect.

Completely agree. That first would be some Observe and Report level shit, so good. I can see why they took it out.

I saw that scene but I don't recall anything about banana splits, and I didn't like her in it.

Serious question: how would a film "addressing" said moral issues matter? and what would you want them to do? Are you merely speaking for yourself? If so, why do you need a movie to tell you that child abuse and violence is wrong?
In one single scene, the film brings up the question of Big Daddy's choice to mold his daughter into a remorseless killer, and then effectively ignores it the rest of the film. I'd preferred it had they left that scene out entirely, because it seemed really stupid and trivial.

That's what I meant when I criticized the film for bringing up the issue and then ignoring it. If you don't intend to properly address the elephant in the room, don't acknowledge it in the first place.

Oh ok, i get that. For what it's worth, it's mentioned in the comic. Although I guess it's kinda like the backstory? Guess they didnt feel the need to explain it

Apparently not...I could see the first part not being in the movie, and maybe even the third, but the second? booooo

I haven't read the other impressions/spoilers yet

but thank you for making this thread and convincing me to go see this movie...

I went to a 4:10pm showing, the theatre wasn't even a quarter packed, but I got the feeling most people there enjoyed it as well as myself. It was full of humor, action, violence, nerdy references, foul-language, and some tense moments.

I loved everybody in this movie, short of Kick-ass' love interest, while pretty, her role didn't seem convincing to me to why she started to fall for him, it was rushed and sloppy. I wasn't entirely convinced about Hit-girl during her first sequence with her blade staff but everything else afterwards was awesome, particularly her scene where she went into save Kick-ass and Big Daddy, that was so fricking spectactular! I had already seen her moment with the guns shooting up and jumping/flying off walls in trailers, but it was still pretty awesome at this point I was rooting for her full force. Nicholas Cage was surprisingly good in this movie, and was sorry to see his character killed off.

The nerd friends were a little annoying. The movie's message to blend realism superheroism with some of the more ouotrageous stuff near the end was entertaining enough to not bother me too much. I hope so bad they make a sequel to this, this movie is SOOOOO mine on blu-ray when it comes out, day 1 muthafuckas.

i think every review i've read had been sort of weirdly enthusiastic or vehemently condemning, both of which i cannot really understand after watching the movie.

Yeah Jet-pack scene was probably the most ridiculous moment for me in this movie that made everything this movie would try to be realistic... and the bazooka to the gut, c'mon.

Well apparently Matthew Vaughn talks a lot of game >:(

Can anyone confirm that the
interrogation scene
in the movie?

Between
Strong's baddies and Kick-Ass/Big Daddy? It's there, no testicle zapping though.

I haven't bothered reading any reviews. Today is my birthday, so I just got up and watched it. But yeah, I couldn't quite understand the hype for this movie after watching it. Fun flick, but as you said, nothing spectacular.

The best thing about the film is just how pure fun it is the entire time. I can't even remember a movie that completely delivered in that aspect recently. The only one that comes close is How To Train Your Dragon. I can't think of a single film last year that did it, maybe Star Trek.

Well I'm not saying it was bad or anything. I was just expecting more with how you people were hyping it up.

But don't let my opinion hurt you. By all means, watch it. I don't see how anyone would not enjoy it.

I figured as much, and I'll probably give the comic a try at some point.

Again, my issue isn't extreme violence involving a young child - it's that the inclusion of such content raises a lot of questions that the film does a pretty shitty job of acknowledging. I'm not asking for the film to come out with some heavy-handed condemnation of Big Daddy, but I wanted to see the film address some perfectly relevant questions about his relationship with his daughter. In a film that jumps from one extreme to the other, it needs something to keep it grounded.

i'll open this with some positivity: nick cage was great, and it was a joy to see him be great again. also, chloe moretz was incredible.

but i think the film revels in its own absurdity. looking at it and WANTED side-by-side, they're both almost teenage masturbatory superhero fantasies about being a big stupid loser and then becoming something greater than yourself. it's not to be taken seriously in the least, if you ask me.

Yeah, I thought Cage did pretty well in this. The little girl had a couple of annoying scenes, but overall I enjoyed those too.

I think its safe to say this movie was amazing. Hot damn i did not anticipate it to be so good. It was almost perfect. So fucking awesome!!!

3 things I noticed

Nicholas Cage makes everything more awesomer, i love him dearly.
The little girl is one of the best characters ever.
John Murphy's music is fucking EVERYWHERE

Did i mention i loved this movie?

There really oughta be an extended version of this movie, as great as it was, felt like it could use more fillin in. Don't dissapoint for the blu-ray release.

Yeah, this was the most fun movie I've seen in years.

I, too, hope the BD release has some great features.

Just got back.

God damn was that fun. Some pretty interesting changes from the comic, but that was fun as hell :lol

Defnitely see this.

Sheesh so many mixed opinions!

I read the comic and am a big fan so I will give it a shot.

Sounds like the best way to go in is to expect to have fun with it and not a masterpiece.

I went in having no idea about the comic and thought it was one of the best things ever!

Seems like knowing the comic makes people jaded motherfuckers.

Nightvision scene and 28 days later warehouse scene were so sick. Still doesn't beat my favorite action sequence ever which is Chateau->Freeway Chase in Matrix Reloaded though.

I'm glad the first thing didn't happen. And the second. I don't want to watch the exact same story I read, I want them to make some changes.

But especially the first one.
I'm glad he ended up with her. I wanted Dave to get the girl in the end in the comic. I mean the way it was done in the comic was funny but I just wanted to see him end up with her.

Did we read the same thing?
Dave was a pathetic piece of shit with no chance of ever getting laid in the comic.

It at least made sense in the movie because he wasn't as weird and she was kinda geeky instead of being a bitchy rich girl.

Oh! But yeah, just got back: fucking brilliant. I was telling my friends to watch out for this the day the movie was announced and I'm very happy that I don't regret that. Loved it from beginning to end.

It changed stuff from the comic yet still remained faithful to it. I'm happy with what they did to Katie's character if not just for the
"fuck his brains out"
moment. The whole cast was great, the fight scenes were brilliantly shot (especially the second to last one),

Day one when it hits Blu-ray and I'll probably end up seeing it again.

I'm not sure what that has to do with me wanting to see
him end up with the girl. Just because in real life he probably WOULDN'T get the girl doesn't mean I couldn't hope the character WOULD.
.

Never said he wasn't pathetic in the comic.

I have a feeling it's gonna pick up next week. I think the WOM for this movie will be really good.

If any movie has a chance at becoming a "word of mouth" movie, this is it. Reaction seems to be great. Currently trending #5 on Twitter, as it has been all day. It's almost all positive comments.

Seeing a lot like this too:

Paaatrick Kick Ass is one of those rare movies that's better than the source material. half a minute ago from Echofon

Best compliment the movie could get.

Just got back and I loved it. There were some really cool shit in the movie
strobelight gun was fucking badass
. Awesome blend of comedy and solid action. I'll definitely be buying the Blu-Ray when it comes out.

honestly I wish the movie would bomb, for one reason - the wrong fanbase getting attached to this can totally ruin it. I mean, it's already starting with those godawful "ANYONE CAN BE A SUPERHERO!" commercials.
