Doesn't seem like it is exactly tearing up the BO in the UK. 6 million over two weekends. A good thing the budget is so small. Lionsgate is poised to drop the ball yet again.

Wow, it's tough getting people to go see this. But, yeah, they apologized afterward: It was that good.

There must be a Hit-Girl sequel. Must be. Don't fuck this up, America.

US: They are having nationwide 10PM screenings next Thursday, check your theater!

Yeah, I sent a message to 20 of my friends about the 10pm screening only 3 people (who already were excited) told me they want to go. Kind of sad :( I really hope it does well but Lionsgate seems to be fucking up yet again.

Saw this with a few friends today, changed from Clash Of The Titans to this.

Cinema was packed, everyone had a riot of a time. So far my fav of the year.

Loved the
not knowing how Lost Ends remark Kickass thought he was gonna die
:lol

I have no idea why they're forcing Americans to wait until the 16th.

Welcome to the world of Unamerica, I guess.

Saw the movie a few hours ago. Fantastic. Got a serious John Woo / Tarantino vibe from it. I went in knowing pretty much nothing about the film, as I purposely avoid information on films I think I might like, and felt pretty rewarded by the plot which was surprisingly interesting.

I had no idea that this film wasn't out in N.A. yet, someone posted this awhile back and asked me why I hadn't seen it yet... they knew I was canadian... it wasn't released yet. Guess i gotta wait till the 16th... the more I read about this the more I actually want to see it in theatres, instead of just waiting for its blu-ray release months down the road.

That scene and that music was stunning, gave me the chills. Big daddy slaughtering the gangsters in the warehouse to that music from 28 days later was also epic.
Wait. As in Godspeed You Black Emperor - East Hastings? Because that sounds ridiculous!

Just came back from the cinema with my wife. Fuck it was awesome. Excellent soundtrack, too. I want my little girl to kick ass like Hit Girl when she's old enough.

Completely loved it. I enjoyed the comic book versions of the love interest and Big Daddy's backstory, but other than that it was great.

went to see this last week with my girlfriend, we both loved it!!!!!! hitgirl and big daddy should of been the lead actors in this film because they stole every scene they we're in :D

wow, this was surprisingly good. there were some legitimately fantastic action scenes in it too, which I definitely wasn't expecting.

excellent movie.

Saw this again earlier this evening. Still amazing, still a ridiculous amount of fun, though the relationship plot is even less convincing on second viewing, the pacing has a few weaknesses, and of course it isn't quite as effective as it was seeing it fresh and being genuinely surprised at the cinema for the first time in a while.

I can't believe people liked the inclusion of John Murphy's tracks in the film. Surface of the Sun was so awfully out of place in the scene I got the feeling Vaughn was looking for any excuse to put the track in there.

Just found out that COMIC SPOILER ALERT
the ending of the film is the total opposite of the comic book

Don't know what to think.

Not really. (Book/Movie spoilers)
There are notable changes, obviously. The death of the mob boss is more down to earth, Big Daddy's back story is different and, yes, the love sub-plot turns out totally the other way, which I think is better/funnier. Still, I'd call it a stretch to say that the ending is the total opposite. HG and KA kill the mob boss, other heroes spring up, they go lead normal lives.

Honestly, the business with the bazooka et. al. was fucking awesome, so I didn't mind the change.

I specifically meant the
love sub-plot
.

I guess I shouldn't judge before I see it. It shouldn't be too hard to outwrite Mark Millar after all.

Finished the interview:

Apparently, it's already beat IB in world wide numbers.
and oh yeah...

he just CONFIRMED a sequel!

:D :D

edit:

Millar just posted figures for Kick-Ass UK performance:

"Mark, Universal has put togethr this summary of our performance to date on KICK-ASS vs a number of relevant, high profile comps:

Our KICK-ASS cume after 6 proper days (plus 5 previews days) on release stands at £5,400,611.

Comparisons at the same stage of release (6 days plus any previews):

• Sin City - £3,399,734 (cume £7,111,791)

• Kill Bill 2 - £3,841,949 (cume £9,164,398)

• Kill Bill - £4,106,441 (cume £11,669,641)

• Watchmen - £4,202,535 (cume £8,914,462)

• Inglorious Basterds - £4,999,824 (cume £1,746,513)

• Wanted - £5,095,082 (cume £9,744,017)

• Batman Begins - £6,056,795 (cume £16,594,603)

• 300 - £6,315,662 (cume £14,496,852)

As you can see we're doing well against our obvious comps with only the 2 biggest hitters out-stripping us so far. Tonight we should expect a similar figure to Tuesday (£340-50k), so an impressive £5.75m by the end of wk.1."

So good.
Not only was it hilarious, some of it was pretty powerful too
the scene where Big Daddy is lit on fire and he's instructing Hit Girl what to do was fantastic
. Hit Girl needs her own movie, shes proof that kids can be awesome in movies. The movie also proved that Nicholas Cage isn't always a horrible blackhole of suck.

The romance was little "ehh I'm not buying it" but it didnt hurt the film as much as it could've. They are stupid teens afterall.

Oh, and:

Fuck this shit I'm getting the bazooka.
:lol

yeah, the
HG rescue scene
was totally fucking ace. Best action scene I've seen in a fair while.

Read the comic yesterday on my iPad, and am now excited to see this. Some of my co-workers are also excited. It's been spurring a discussion at the office because we got in trouble for publishing Ebert's Book of Eli review, which had "WTF" a couple times in it. So we're wondering what the reaction will be when we publish a review over a movie called "Kick-Ass." Too damn many conservatives read the newspaper in Oklahoma.

So I'm reading that Dave
actually gets with the girl at the end?

Hugely disappointing IMO. I was hoping the movie really played up how much of a loser he was, but it's not looking that way.

Once again. You'll go in expecting it to be about Dave, but you get Hit-Girl and Big Daddy and completely forget about Dave, leaving you wanting for a sequel that leaves Dave and focuses more on Hit-Girl and Big Daddy. Along with that you'll get some of literally, the best film making in recent years.

I really don't care about Dave anymore. It's all about Hit-Girl and Big Daddy, sort of how everyone loved The Joker in The Dark Knight.

I think I just liked the comic for totally different reasons than everyone else. I have a feeling I'm gonna be disappointed with this film.

Then you might as well stop reading the comics bro, future issues have been said to heavily borrow from the film.

That's how I feel, however Dave was pretty much the glue that held the film together, and I liked him too, but its just a case of being overshadowed by the more badarse/interesting characters.

Saw the film yesturday and loved it. Please dont ruin it with a sequel, let it stand alone.

I looked up Aaron Johnson (19years old) on Wiki and saw that he is expecting a kid with his 43 year old wife. I mean, what the fuck.

If it's successful there will be a sequel and if it's like the planned comic sequel that Millar has planned, it'll be called Balls to the Wall. :lol

Went and watched tonight, for the "premier" here in Aus, abysmally there was only about 10 people there, but everyone seemed to love it so i reckon word of mouth will push this film up.

The cinema I was in was 3/4 full (saw it last night). What premiere are you talking about?

I dunno, was first night i thought..... well that's what it said on TV, meh.

Cinema stunk like mouldy ass as well.

What a fantastic film! I'm usually pretty cynical about action films, but I can't see anything topping Kick Ass for fun during the rest of the year. It's very rare I leave the cinema without being disappointed about something, but it kept me hooked from start to finish. Great stuff :)

Yeah it did, its the day all movies in Australia are released. Does anyone know why we got this a week before America anyway?

The biggest Kick Ass fan/shill/creator of this thread being banned 2 days before the movie releases in NA....cold-blooded :lol :lol
