A KOJIMA Productions employee has been tested positive for COVID-19

Kojima productions don't seem to have any big games on the horizon, so I don't think they have much to worry about other than the person spreading the virus around.

If the employee is younger then 65, which I'm guessing he/she is, he/she'll live, most likely. No need to panic.
That's not the big problem. The problem is how many he/she has infected without knowing. And how many people they have infected or will infect, who might die. So it's never "not a big deal" if someone has been infected.

For example, let's hope he hasn't visited his parents or grandparents lately. Or a spouse who has diabetes, etc.

This is typical misinformation that I keep seeing repeated. Covid-19 is at least twice as deadly as the flu—and we don’t even have the data on a full global pandemic yet, as that info is still developing. Look at the US, for example, with a larger than average obesity rate and pre-existing conditions and you’ll see that as of today the mortality rate is 1/2 of the survival rate. Let that sink in. And a larger percentage of those infected are also under 65 than in other regions of the world.

This particular virus is especially dangerous given how easily it’s transmitted, how much of a viral load each infected person carries (1000X SARS) and the still not nailed-down mortality rate, whIch seems to swing widely per region.

Stay safe all. And stay the fuck home. We’re all gamers, so that shouldn’t be hard for us.

It's tough when all of your rights are being violated. Sure I'm a gamer but I'm also an outdoor person, I can't be locked up like a god damn animal all day long.

People need to stop with this woefully inaccurate mindset. There has been many cases of people that have contracted the virus in their 30's, have no pre-existing issues and the virus has killed them or very nearly did.

One recent Olympian gold medalist who is only 31 said it's the worst thing that he has ever experienced and thought he was going to die. If someone with an incredibly good cardiovascular system says that, we all need to be careful.

You guys realize getting CV isn't a death sentence, right?

Talking to my wife who is a doctor and her colleagues, pretty much everyone is going to be in contact with the virus eventually. You may or may not get sick. Chances of you dying are extremely low though if you are under 75 and don't have preexisting health conditions.

Staying inside now is good advice because it spreads out how many people are sick at once, overwhelming our health care. Staying inside WON'T keep you from ever getting in contact with the virus. It will happen eventually.

The same is true for the flu. CV has a higher death rate than the flu, but we are still talking very low percentage.

And the numbers of people who get CV and die are actually lower than what is reported in the media. Right now, the only people in the US getting tested for the virus are the people that are in really bad shape. Most people that have the virus are not in as bad of shape and aren't being tested and don't even know they have it. So those people aren't being counted for the percentage of people who get the virus and two weeks later get back to normal, just like any other virus.

According to estimates from countries who have undertaken mass testing - Germany, South Korea and Iceland - roughly 60% of people will have very minor and/or no symptoms at all. Pretty easy to inflate percentages when the government is only willing to test people with fever and respiratory problems. Most people will experience nothing even though they've been in contact with the virus. Everyone should quarantine and be careful so we can stop the spread but this fear-mongering bullshit needs to stop. Most of the countries that are losing hundreds of people per day - Italy, Spain and France - are extremely physically affectionate cultures (2 kisses on the cheek, hugs etc...) and their respective medical systems are getting overwhelmed. As an aside, it has been mentioned quite a few times that Italians tend to share a household across many generations. Germany has 56,202 confirmed cases as of yesterday and only 403 dead. Let's remain vigilant but scaring people with charts that misrepresent the situation (lacking context and facts) doesn't help anyone.

How many of these smoke like a chimney?

Shows the age distribution. Let's keep our heads here. Accurate as of 03/25/2020.

EDIT: Sorry about the size but it was originally meant for a phone.

Pandemic. Everyone locked in their underground bunkers waiting for Amazon porters to deliver toilet paper and otter hats.

The future is death stranding...

Which also means that life will be insanely boring if the game is anything to go by...

Hopefully all that traveling and grandstanding and all the ted talks they did did not spread the virus to anyone susceptible to it.

There are lots of places that have confirmed COVID cases, why does this need a thread? This isn't any more or less important than any other company having an employee with this. Should we make a thread for every company with a case?
