PM's work 100% fine now - nice! :)

just FYI i get an error when visiting the subscribed threads link - I don't subscribe to any threads so that's probably why. Just letting you know in case it's a bug. here's a screencap:

Thanks for your work mate! Really appreciated! :D

Moreover, since this thread is full of Iphone users that should love videogames, would you name me your top 5 of videogame sites (news, reviews, videos...) that have an Iphone version too?

I could suggest Gamespot, Eurogamer, Ign (but just for the review section untill now).
Thank!

you are awesome, my man. Any time you make it down to Miami, i'll owe you a beer.

In lieu of that, do you have a paypal account we can donate to? Is your bandwidth still not an issue?

The lines are starting to blur with ckholer's latest update, but in the end it comes down to the interface.

I imagine Juice ultimately will be able to do more with his app, however ckholer is able to hit all mobile devices, not just the iPhone.

They're both crazy awesome, and they seem to have a healthy relationship in regards to their apps...so we all win!

Heh, thanks. My todo list on MobileGAF hasn't gotten much shorter as time has gone on, I think the current road map has something like 100 named and unnamed features or improvements I want to make.

So far I haven't set out to leverage anything that you could only accomplish through the SDK, but it won't be long before I get to those features. Reply notifications that notify your phone only when someone quotes you, image uploads from the device to a post, etc.

Hopefully I can secure a good chunk of free time to get cracking on it. Been tough making a lot of progress with a busy work schedule.

ckohler is a REAL GAF HERO

What I would like to see: a neogaf -> neogaf web app bookmarklet

I was going to make it myself but won't have time until next week at earliest and so wanted to the throw the idea out in case someone wanted something to do.

If you are viewing normal gaf >
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329737&page=13

It'll take that URL and change it to:
http://www.secondapps.com/neogaf/showthread.php?t=329737&page=13

Why do I want this? Well, I use email subscriptions heavily and the links within those link to normal gaf. I also bookmark threads on my computer using InstaPaper to read on the go. It'll be great if I could "mobilize" those links and read them in GAF Web App.

Amazing app.

Is there a way you could add two things?

1) Show your read/not read (new/not new) status based on your account, not the cookies saved in Safari
2) Have a "Mark Forums Read" button

I'm kinda obsessed when it comes to NeoGAF in terms of marking everything as read when I'm done reading :lol

o.O

Just a thanks again.

I didn't see it answered, so I'll give a final querie and then drop it:

Emoji? A limitation of the forums/web/web app? Can it be implemented? After all, all iPhone 2.2 users can see them (even if they can't make them).

Update:

Version 2.2 now live. Private messages feature still needs to be tested. No guarantees that those work 100% yet.

NEW FEATURES
  • Edit Your Posts
  • View Recent Subscribed Threads
  • Set thread subscription when posting
  • View Recent Private Messages
  • Palm Pre Support

BUG FIXES
  • Posting now respects your default and previous per-thread subscription setting
  • Rewrote how private messages are parsed
  • Removed green line in favor of showing log in name at bottom
  • Mobile friendly links redirect to neogaf.com on desktops correctly
  • Cleaned up editing buttons
*bow*

This might be doable. I'll need to investigate further.

2) Have a "Mark Forums Read" button
Hrm. Not really sure about that one.

Even if it worked for iPhone users (which I doubt), everyone else would just see the letter "y" scattered about. It would get annoying very fast.

Yeah, I thought that was the main reason. Thanks again!

Will the app get copy support when 3.0 is official? You can paste in your replies, but being able to copy someone's post would make it easier to multi-quote people.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. The copy/paste is system-wide feature. I don't see why you would need to even make support for it.

Honestly all I need to stay in the loop as a gamer is Neogaf and the banned blog owned by AOL and named after an old controller :D Just put i. infront and it's a nicely formated iPhone version, and there are specific sites for each system which is great because I only really care about Xbox360.

was using this for the first time in a while at work and noticed it had a login button. is it safe to enter my login info via this app? just wanted to make sure, but yeah this is way better than the last time I used it. work productivity is going to plummet. great stuff.

navigate to your post and click the pencil icon at the upper right of it.

Heh, if I stole the " icon for MobileGAF, then I'll say ckohler stole the pencil icon, since I had edits in first :)

Been killing myself writing in super redundant error handling. I could spend a million hours on this thing that no one will appreciate.

Someone love me.

:D nice avatar

Sometimes my reply doesn't show up even though the page loads up and everything. Like my most recent post in the Pre thread had to be made on the full GAF website as it wouldn't appear with the webapp. I'm not sure if it's because I'm quoting a particulary long post or because I edited it.

I have my setttings changed to 'last post' instead of 'last page' but when I click on a link from the subcribed threads page it takes me to the last page.

Aside from those two issues the webapp has takeN everything I've tossed at it. Great work, thanks again.

Is this app even on Itunes anymore? I don't know anyhow... .

somehow today.. when I checked neogaf on the iphone..

The app showed my post as green. WOW. this is the reason why I made my avatar an identifiable colour so I can scroll down, catch my eye and continue where I left off. What a great feature. Is there anyway for the system to update NEOGAF.www to make it do something similar? Until then, bright yellow avatar for me.

*awesome app by the way. Good work

It's a web app, so there's no need for it to be on iTunes.

But yeah I don't know how Evilore would feel about ckohler receiving money for this thing. I'd gladly donate some money, though, cause this is BY FAR my most used app/website on the iPhone. It has made for so many joyous trainrides, I don't know what I'd do without it.

Shacknews has a free iPhone browser in the App Store. It's called Latest Chatty. It was originally coded to browse the comment section and participate in discussion, but in the last couple months it has been expanded into an incredibly impressive full-service Shack app including main site content. It's pretty fantastic.

Have we got footage of this app working? I don't have an iPhone but I'm curious to see what you guys are playing with!

Oh also, I should have mentioned this in my previous post--I just tried out this web app for the first time tonight and it's extremely well put together. Great job!

I spent real time with this app, and posted from it, for the first time tonight. I really love everything about it, except I don't think there was an IMG button so I had to type the code out to copy and paste my picture link for my post. A img button would be great, maybe I just missed it or maybe it's not there, but overall I love the look and layout and speed and everything, great job.

The jump to last post isn't working for me on my 3GS. And if I click the arrow for suscribed threads it takes me to PM Inbox. That's not a big deal but having to scroll down so far is, is anyone else not getting the last post option to work?

Works fine on my 3G - different hardware but same browser so there should be no difference.

My guess is that you're hitting it too early before the page completed loading all the way so it can't skip down to the bottom since that part wasn't loaded yet.

Hey ckohler, I was wondering if you had any control over which keyboard pops up in mobile Safari? One small nice thing would be when you input a page number for the jump to page, it would pull up a keyboard with numbers on it. Just curious if there was any way to handle that. Posting is amazing.

Just tried that twice and it still only brings me to the last page as if the option isn't on. But it is. I don't get it.
