I've fixed the missing posts issue. It was indeed a problem with ignored users. When I have time tomorrow, I plan on adding a way of displaying when posts are hidden with a link to view them like what the real site does versus just hiding them.

Keep an eye out for the neogaf logo, in the top header, in a future screencast. ;-)

External links open in a fly up modal, as well as images. The toolbar at the bottom has a compass to open your current page in Safari, as will the modal - similar to the facebool app.

Remembering the pages you are on are on the todo.

Bug report: If you start a post with the character '@', using the web app, it won't show up on GAF. If you update a post and add '@' as the first character, the update doesn't show up on GAF.

lol same, it's all Reader and the webapp.

I don't know all the right words and phrases, but in human language I believe it's the same reason Opera Mini doesn't let you zoom freely...the page is rendered and sent to you, you're not interacting with a live site. It doesn't play nice with any javascript and has to reload for things that should just appear. Both Google Reader and NeoGaf webapp heavily rely on javscript.

Feature request: Would it be possible to provide the image size in KB or MB as part of the gray image box so that I can decide on the fly whether or not to look at the image? I always browse with no avatars and no images because it's faster, and sometimes, an big animated GIF can really bog the iPhone down. I'll pay you $10.

It doesn't have anything to do with GAF. The neogaf.com server doesn't download every photo in every thread. Nobody would do that. It'd be like me asking you to upload hundreds of random photos to your personal web site with the intention of telling tens of thousands of people to go look at them 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The way it works now, the images appearing in threads are really hosted all over the place and no one site has to host them all.

Thanks. I'm aware of that method. Thing is, I'm not sure I want my app making all those extra CURL operations every time a thread is displayed. Take a desktop thread for example. That's potentially 50+ extra 1k CURL transactions every time the thread is viewed unless I do some kind of caching of the info which is even *more* complicated. That's an extra 50k per page view and if just one of those 50 image servers is slow to respond, the entire thread is slow to display.

It just seems like way more of a headache for such a trivial feature.

I haven't had time to add this to the main menu but this link works if you are logged in. Otherwise, you get nothing.

Trivial? Perhaps. Useful? Given the limited main memory of mobile devices, very useful I think.

But not at the cost you (and users) would have to pay to get it. I wasn't thinking of an actual solution when I said it - I was thinking like a user. Oops

Is any of it stored on your server.

I've just been playing around with it on my Nexus One, and it's really slick. Always wary about putting my password into an unfamiliar site tho...

The web app does not store anything about you on the sever. Your session information is stored in a cookie on your phone only and your password is only seen once by the web app as an encrypted MD5 string when you first log in.

I don't know what the point of a native app would be at this point. The webapp behaves close enough to what an iPhone app would behave like and it supports more devices.

the fact that everyone on gaf uses this app on all different smartphones is enough reason for it to continue to be a webapp. it's more accessible that way. i agree with you lets just keep it as a webapp.

I'd like an "enable this image" feature too. I'd like to tap on the images in the OP for example to see the images, but I wouldn't click on the following images which would probably be planes taking off.

Can you not change the img src to a button image and when you tap on it, JS swaps the src for the actual image?

What's the point?

It'd be a for a single device instead of all devices, and the only real benefit I can think of would be that transitions between screens would have animations instead of just loading pages.

You could just bookmark each forum. Then you can switch forums without having to perform a page request.

if you're using a blackberry just press b and you instantly go to the bottom of a page. i imagine theres something similar on other devices?
