A very entertaining interchange at GameStop.

LOL, I dont get how people can be so loyal to some things. Football teams, Tech Companies, Auto makers, etc...

Off topic.

Does any other country have highways like this? I only see them in the USA.

There are a couple in the UK. One is so famous it has it's own name, "Spaghetti Junction". Thing is, they are a bit of a relic from the 1960's, when urban planners decided all societies ills could be solved with moar concrete!

Now they have a bit of a bad reputation as ugly and a failed vision of the future, daubed in graffiti and difficult to maintain, traffic nightmares etc etc

They're pretty much a feature of any large city in any sort of vaguely developed country in Asia

__________

Back on topic, I spent a few days demoing the OUYA at GAME (i.e. spending the whole day behind the counter and/or listening to customers). Plenty came in and placed orders for xbox one, just as they did with PS4. The other thing the GAME employees say is that you can put the money down in deposit form and then just put it towards something else later if you change your mind, while due to the pre-order limit of these consoles being hit "any day now", you should definitely consider pre-ordering at least one, maybe both, so you reserve your place in the queue

My experience was totally d8fferent. I went to pick up The Last of us and the store was empty. I was meaning to ask the gamestop chick her views on X1. But th3 store was empty and I didnt want to com3 off as a creep weirdo. Anyways after signing the receipt I asked her if she knew about X1 used games policy (I acted dumb) and that it doesnt allow used games. Sh3 said actually sony is doing the same thing with PS4, which is leaving it to the developers to decide, lik3 EAs online pass system. I said hmph never knew that and left the store.

Lol she gave you a true answer than you weren't expecting, that GameStop chick should get a raise for keeping it real.

They was like that with the PS3, except without the good reason

Well I think it's a task of consumers to inform these people that if their internet goes out for more than 24hours, they cannot play their legally bought games etc.

Oh well I guess they will know when their internet goes down and they won't be able to play their games.

Because for one : if MS internet goes down, you cannot play shit.
And two : Because buying this console and saying you are ok with all the draconian DRM gives the wrong message to the industry.

Its actually the consumers job to be informed before making a purchase. The employee doesn't need to start injecting opinions onto a customer in a passive aggressive way. His/her primary job is to sell the products being sold by the employer. Not turn potential customers away.

And that is why I hate shopping at Gamestop.

If some loser working the cash register called me an idiot for pre-ordering with them, I would have taken my business elsewhere.

I don't shop at GameStop, but if I did, I'd long for the day an employee questioned and lectured me on my buying habits. I'd tear them apart.

I'd lay into them. No $8.00 employee at GameStop is going to give me the business.

"Enjoy not playing when the Internet goes out?"

This isn't a third world country, if your Internet goes out frequently for more than 24 hours, I don't know what to say to you.

On another note, why do people have to continuously post the same response? Yes, the OP made a mistake by using 'interchange' rather than 'exchange.' The first 50 people pointed it out, yet the comments keep flying in.

Fortunately there's a product for this situation - it's called xbox 360...

Firstly, who cares what someone else is buying? Someone purchasing an Xbox One is not an idiot, may very well have done their homework, and decided they like the features better than the PS4. Or perhaps all their friends have gone ahead and decided to go with that console. Perhaps they plan on keeping their 360, have a Gold account and decide it's easier to just stick with that ecosystem.

In fact, people buying both systems is a GOOD thing. I dearly hope both consoles, really all three, get plenty of sales. Competition is vital. If Sony were the only game in town, do you really think there'd be any chance they'd be as consumer friendly as they are right now? Not a chance.

I'm rather surprised the store employees even mustered enough emotion over it to do anything other than offer another pre-sale. If I were a minimum wage part time worker, I know I wouldn't.

Secondly, as much as I'm against rampant fanboyism, it IS interesting to see the console wars start up again. It's been a while.

This will certainly happen more during the pre-order phase. But after both are on shelves with their prices (and the steep difference) easily visible and the word of mouth from consumers befuddled about the thick set of rules and procedures you need to follow to manage, share and resell your games on the Xbone start circulating around? Good luck with that.

In terms of this breaking through the mainstream... My 56 year old mum rang me up yesterday evening and said:

"Sooo, the PS4!"

and I said "Yeah, cool huh, was announced back in February though".

"Yeah and it's better than Xbox"

I said "what? What do you mean? Who said that?"

"Oh, I read it. It's £80 cheaper and it's better than Xbox, was one of the top stories on BBC news."

To which I replied "oh shit, they really have fucked up."

Amazing, that there is that trickle down. The mainstream definitely has interpretted E3 the same way the hardcore has. And that touchstone with the mainstream is going to make it a VERY difficult message to ditch in the next 6 months before launch.

I reckon more than half the people in threads don't bother reading other people's posts and only care about their own posts. Half those people are also trying to be funny.

That's not helpful or good in any way. Just douchey. Let people but what they want.

Passiveness is often weakness. Not always, but a good chunk of the time, it is just people sticking there head in the sand

This more than a difference of opinion matter, you would be selling someone a bad product. I couldn't do that with a strait face, its cool if that what you are into though,

Also, I almost forgot:

interchange
verb |ɪntəˈtʃeɪn(d)ʒ| [ with obj. ]
(of two or more people) exchange (things) with each other: superior and subordinates freely interchange information.

noun |ˈɪntətʃeɪn(d)ʒ|
1 [ mass noun ] the action of interchanging people or things: the interchange of ideas | [ count noun ] : we have a significant interchange of staff with the nearby college.

This has been done three times now.

Honestly I think GAME and GameStop should go on strike and refuse to carry it until MS come up with a better used game solution that doesn't restrict the market.

OP already put a definition at the start of the 2nd page. Dammit, now you're gonna be one of those posters that doesn't read other people's posts.

This. I hate what the X1 represents with a passion but I have cursed these two out if i was in that position. Im no idiot and if i want something i want something. Go fuck yourself with your shitty opinion on what i want to spend my money on.

There's a lot of hypocrisy and elitism everywhere.

This. Under normal circumstances people would be screaming murder about this but suddenly its ok.

This, competition is sooo important to us continually getting quality consoles and content.

If MS goes down we are just going to be forced into Sonys master plan.

/expected

At my gamestop, the employee was telling everyone who walked in that Xbox 360 used to be his main console but now he has to switch to PS3/PS4 because of the new Xbone policies. Then he complains about having to rebuild his gamer score, and tells people about the various outrageous comments of the MS Execs.

Some people cannot separate themselves from their online ID's...which is kinda sad.

Xbone will have guaranteed sales to many a million of xbl gamer rank concerned people.

But its not like the xbox was expected to be shutout from sales...it will sell many millions.

I appreciate when employee's of game stores try to inform customers. You get the impression that Microsoft is hoping that people don't realise the restrictions until after a console is bought, and that shouldn't be the case.

In fact, Sony might have a responsibility to inform consumers of the restrictions of the Xbox One.

To be honest I think they should inform the customer of the consoles limitations, but not in a rude way. If the person after hearing all the limitations still wants the system then just give it to them.

Honestly I was expecting a far more interesting/controversial story when I clicked the thread and saw the length of the post than what ended up being described in the OP, maybe because these stories are becoming common.
