ACG's review PS5 crapped out already

Does anyone actually not buy the extra warranty they offer through the ps store? If you're already outlaying $500, spend the extra $50 people.

2 years of warranty (normal for electronics) is already good, and after that there is still "responsibility for unexpected faults*" at Finland (probably for rest of the EU too)

* it means that if I buy a TV and it is fair to assume as a consumer, that items like TVs last for 5 years at least and if it breaks at year 3-5 aka after warranty, there is still a good chance to get it repaired, replaced or full/partly money back from the shop that sold it/manufacturer.

consumer can assume that console lasts for 5-7 years in normal usage, so there is no worries here. And it is not automatic process, but not really difficult either. There is whole "consumer panel" that helps consumers to suggest/force responsible parties to refund or repair items, just few calls / emails.

Extra warranties are like 80-150€ here for 5 years, so it is mainly waste of money as electronics usually breaks in first few years (in official warranty period) or like 5-20 years later

Yeah, in the US we don't have the fantastic consumer protections you guys seem to have elsewhere. It sucks, but is what it is. The extra 2 years is only like 50 bucks usually anyway so it's not a huge outlay and gives you peace of mind that your $500 isn't gonna become a paperweight too quickly.

Therefore you have a broader variety in manufacturers and brands especially in the eletronics department (for example tv´s) and one can only assume how much of it is because of the socialist regimes and their rules and regulations in europe.

My series x startup story was kind of funny.
Keeping in mind I have an av closet with a small ledge behind it, so I elected to put the series x behind stand up, sideways. I couldn't really see the ports, so I was doing it by feel.

Hook it up, press the power button. Nothing.
Press it again - nothing. Panic starts to set in.
Hold power button. Nothing. Check power plugged in, yep. Check power at back of xbox, had come loose while plugging in other cables - yay, power! Chime!

Look on tv, no picture. Try other inputs on receiver, nothing. Double check on receiver, is on bd/dvd input. Double check tv, is on hdmi 3.
Panic sets in. Check hdmi on xbox - feels like its in fine. Check receiver, power on and off. Nothing. Double check hdmi on back of xbox, somehow had it jammed into expansion slot, lol. Ok, should be good to go!

Turn on xbox - nothing. More panic! Lol
Try a bunch of random things, eventually, start checking receiver settings - i had remapped bd/dvd to hdmi 6. Move hdmi to hdmi 6 input.
Turn on again ........and........yay! Xbox!! Lol

I feel so sorry for the people that have failed consoles. In all my life, the only console I ever had die on me was a launch PS4 Pro. It still lasted about two years and many hundreds of play hours. I actually dropped my Switch in the toilet (long story, involved my fiance and a few too many drinks) and even that still worked after it dried out.

Of course not, we have actual consumer protection laws here in the EU. If this happens to my PS5 Sony will fix or replace it for free (for 3 years).

Must be nice. It's beyond ridiculous that the US is still so behind in that area.

I was positive there's be some news of hardware failures soon after release, but a review unit dying even before launch is just crazy. Seems like after Xbox 360, the floodgates opened on first batch consoles in general being susceptible to failure at a higher rate than what's reasonable. It's the main reason why I never make the plunge at the beginning of a generation anymore.

I had a launch PS2 that literally died like a week after warranty expired. I was so pissed.

Nobody remember the late BLOD scare PS4s had on launch?? There were a LOT of launch PS4s with defective HDMI inputs leading to a blinking blue light and no video signal.. mine was one of them. Sony knew this but too close to launch to recall

I got mine home at midnight, turned on, BLOD.. called Sonys dedicated helpline for this issue that morning at 6am, they had a new console out at my house THAT DAY, and they collected the defective one.

Day 1 problems it b

LOL these fake news have too stop
Hopefully now that these new systems have new families, the new families will help them kick their vaping habit they had at their old house.

They insist they didn’t want to do it but their owners forced them to vape.

Some of them have now become addicted and may spread the habit to their friends.

Meph. Lots of automobiles die in the first five thousand miles too but there's still billions on the roads around the world.

I've read reports of ps5's bricking after transfering data from ps4.. so I'd honestly wait tight on doing that just yet.. even using extended storage.. just in case
